I feel bad for the 8 and 8 Plus owners

How am I not supposed to be defensive when X owners are acting like 8 owners are a bunch of peasants haha

I can put a 6, 6s, 7 and 8 on a table face down. You'll be able to tell which one is 8 guaranteed lol

Ironically, my 8+ is slower than my 6s+ in a few regards. One notable one that's annoying - when you launch messaging - it takes a little bit of time for the new message icon to appear. If you're in editing a file and you want to take some action on it when you're done - that box with the up arrow takes a good 10-15 seconds to launch. Never had that problem on my 6s+, but most of it was pre-iOS 11.
 
It doesn't really matter. What I've noticed, especially with the yearly carrier and Apple upgrade programs, that a lot of people I know upgrade every year. It's like the phones are being leased now. Whoever didn't get the X this year will get next near's upgrade and don't feel bad for the X beta testers since they'll probably get the new one next year too.

It's going to have issues as with any product that is accelerated like that. It's better to wait till 2018 till they got the issues all fixed. Believe it or not, the iPhone X is a beta phone.

After my experience this morning, I agree.... And you bet your beta I won't be getting another one anytime soon.

The 8’s where a filler upgrade. Speed wise you won’t notice a difference between the 8’s and the 7’s(in everyday use). Basically the same phone minus wireless charging which isn’t a big deal to a lot. Glass back could also be a negative to a lot of people. Cameras are better on the 8’s I’ll give it that.
The 8’s where for the people that had the 6 or 6s that didn’t want to wait till the x came out and price difference(even though they raised pricing on the 8’s for some odd reason). The pricing for the + version isn’t much less than the x also.
Also the 8’s are for the people that don’t want to learn new gestures and are OK with staying with a old and boring design. Someone like my 70 year old Mom. She would be happy with an 8 for just speed reasons and better cameras than her 6+.

The Note didn't have iOS, and you are right I don't want to learn how to make Emoji's smile, you know that's too complicated for a 70 year old but for you smart "innovative" types it's perfect.
 
I had to chuckle when someone feels bad for me for preferring a more tried, true, and basically perfected version of the phone I have enjoyed the most?

I thought about the X, but I felt it would be a very expensive beta product. I love Touch ID, and judging by the Verge's review of Face ID, I am not interested in having to adjust my habits to be able to unlock my phone to see what notification I got. Touch ID, I press the home button and it just turns on and lets me go about my business seamlessly. Face ID, I have to hold the phone at a certain distance not too far, I have to make sure the angle is right. I don't think it's horrible, but I do think it was a second option because they couldn't get Touch ID integrated into the screen.

The beta portion will be noticed and complained about the most when iPhone X owners are in their apps that were not yet optimized for the iPhone X, or the developer is still figuring out how best to work with the notch which may introduce new bugs in their software. So if you have apps that are not yet, and may not be optimized for the X for a while, you bought yourself an iPhone 8 with no home button and a software bezel.

My 8 Plus screen is probably the best screen I have seen yet on an iPhone. Thats the other problem with the OLED technology is the changing tint by angle. Many threads on this forum are complaining about that.

It seems like there is quite a bit to have to tune out and get used to on the X where I am enjoying my tried and True design and screen on my 8 Plus.....it just works.

So I insist, no need to feel sorry for me for getting precisely what I was looking for.

So true...came from a broken 6+ myself. Not really concerned with beta testing the X but I’ll definitely get an X+ if that happens next year!

The iPhones 8 are still great phones, but I agree I bet a lot of those owners wish they had waited for the X. This truly is the best product Apple has ever made. It is literally perfect. Flawless. Incredible.

At least the 6s Plus had 2 gb ram. double that of the 6 / 6 Plus
 
As an iPhone 8 user im planning to upgrade if there is an iPhone X Plus that came with at least 6.3 inch or something like that.

I had my 6 jailbroken wiyh these gestures already and I’ve missed it for a year. I loved the way it was to close apps and open Multi tasking and control center. I was pretty sad to go back to stock iOS for the 7+.
 
Let's be honest - if you can afford an 8+, you can afford an X. 8+ buyers were not convinced by the value proposition of the X, or preferred the form factor of the 8+.
A few more threads like this one, and X owners will all be tarred with the same brush, as d**ks. At least until the next iPhone.

I don't believe Apple "engineered" the display, I may be wrong.

But would you say this is the end all be all for OLED displays on an iphone or will there be a better OLED coming to future iterations?

So it's preference. That's all it is. It isn't about wanting to learn or anything else, just preference.

Just like I prefer driving a manual transmission even though technology has made Automatics superior to manuals in some cases.
 
I considered an 8 Plus and I would have been extremely happy with it. But decided to wait and get an X on launch day. If it was going to be into 2018 like some of the manufactured rumors were saying I would have gone with the 8 Plus and been very happy.

But I am a gadget geek and wanted the latest.

I have 99 problems by the iphone X aint one.

In a weeks time your phone will feel pretty much normal to you. This time next year come back to me whilst I show off my X+ (or whatever). I'm patient with my tactics. Always opt for second gen (although getting the 8+ is technically 3rd gen). Point is, I'm more than happy to wait. At the end of the day my twitter timeline is still going to have the same content on both phones.
