What about scumbags like me who use an iPhone 6S and don’t feel in any way inferior? Where would I fit in with your presumptuous diatribe?

What are you even doing here, you filthy plebe? Using an internet café computer to post, I presume?

The folks who bought the 8 are the same folks that bought the iPad 3.
Another generalization into which I don't fit. Something strange happening here, folks.

Nah mate, writing this on a pathetically inferior iPhone 6S as my fingertips slip on the tears of pure jealousy. Seeing all these posts from people where owning the iPhone X suddenly injects wisdom and a need to pity gobshites like me for not buying this technological marvel just makes me sad and envious.

I wouldn't feel bad as they made their decision and I am sure are relatively happy about it. I do think at some level they were probably hoping the X wasn't any good though. From everything I've read, they were very wrong. The X is easily the best out there.

Honestly I could afford to buy either but am heavily leaning toward the 8+. I don’t like the narrow screen of the X, and I’ve been hearing weird things about the OLED screen. I believe the X also has worse battery life than the Plus, which is a no go for me.

I wouldn’t waste your time feeling sorry for others, it’s a bit condescending.

I'm super-curious about battery life on the X. Going from a 6 to a 7+ was HUGE for me (solely in terms of battery). My wife wanted the X partly (mostly) because the battery in her 6s is crap -- even after apple replaced it under the recall.

After our experience this morning where the phone wouldn't swipe up at all, I'm kind of glad she decided against the X. It would be horrible to get it and have marginally better battery life than her 6s did when it was good.

Wondering what you heard about the screen? While we had hers I noticed it was a bit yellow... well, sort of a lot yellow. I would have tolerated it as I've done with my yellow phones in the past, but it was a bit underwhelming.

Give it 6 months and all you X owners will be back here moaning about screen burn in..... /s

I don't recall this being an issue for any of the recent (last 3 years) Samsung OLED smartphones. Why should it be for Apple?

Note: I have an iPhone 7+, but can't afford an iPhone X and must wait to save up before getting one. No jealousy, it's just the way the world is.

I now see that anyone that says the X is a beta tester has different thoughts about heir decision. It’s justification is all you’re trying to say.
Classic is boring. 3 year old design. The 8’s shouldnt of even existed imo. The 7’s should of ended that stretched out cycle of big top and bottom borders.

Classic is reliable. I’ll let you beta test the X for me. 😉😛

The iPhones 8 are still great phones, but I agree I bet a lot of those owners wish they had waited for the X. This truly is the best product Apple has ever made. It is literally perfect. Flawless. Incredible.

Why do you assume 8/+ owners are crying into their cornflakes, wishing we’d waited for the X? I think people who bought the X have more money than sense, but I don’t keep going round saying it... 🙄

I originally planned on buying an 8 and let the X users beta test the phone but that was more trying to convincing myself that I didn't want the X. I just played with one in stores and it is unequivocally the best iPhone Apple has ever made. The feel is extremely premium and the screen is so good that it looks fake, as if the icons are stickers on the screen.

Then I planned on buying a used 7 to hold me over for the XS but the iPhone X doesn't feel like a beta product, it feels like a flagship product.

Yup, your post just about sums it up, although I for one don't feel sorry for the 8 users.

It is still an issue. S7 Edge a friend has does it badly.

You poor sap with your 2015 technology, how I pity and scorn you. Of course, iPhone 8 owners, with their September 2017 tech, pity and scorn me with my lowly 2016 phone, and are in turn pitied and scorned by the exalted ones, using glorious November 2017 tech. I don’t even know what my poor brother, who is still using an iPhone 6, must be feeling today. Probably abject despair.

Really, you had to make a thread to tell everyone about how you feel sorry for anyone who doesn't use an iPhone X? I think you need to re-examine your life if this is really how you feel. Some of us feel sorry for people that willingly spend $1100 on a freaking phone. But you don't see me going around spouting it in my own thread trying to make other people feel bad when no gives a damn. No one thinks you're cool or somehow better than everyone else because you feel sorry for iPhone 8 users. Yeah their lives must be so horrible... They only have an iPhone 8.

This is an interesting thread. First of all - I am sure that the iPhone X is a fantastic piece of kit. However, I bought an IPhone 8 Plus.

My last iPhone was a 6 that I used for 3 years. It was quite slow on iOS 11. The battery needed replacement.

Decided that I’d get the 8 Plus. It should last me 3 years. The battery should be good for that long & the processor with 3GB RAM should be good. Since I wanted this phone to last 3+ years I decided that the LCD display was a better option.

For me the IPhone 8 Plus was a cognitive choice. I know that the iPhone X is definitely more sexy & I am told that OLED is fantastic. However, for me the iPhone 8 Plus was best.

Lol. Funny.

I feel sorry for the X owners. Having to pick up your phone, hold it at a certain angle, and stare at it to unlock it is like, 3 steps back compared to Touch ID. The horror stories are already beginning to show up on this forum. People are even having a hard time getting their phones to unlock while laying in bed.

Apple s**t the bed and all of you are going to hate this unlock process when the novelty wears off.

My Technology Acquisition Policy is to buy what I need, when I need it, and to get the best I can afford that meets my needs.

Admittedly, "need" can be elastic . . . . 🙂

But I needed a better camera in September so I bought the 8+ and I'm very happy with it. I didn't want to wait, even two months. The 8+ is a stunning piece of "fully refined" design.

And "afford" does play into it. I'm really enjoying seeing the iPhone technology advance. But my next priority is the Watch 3 with cellular, so my tech budget is pretty maxed out. (Also have my eye on the new Kindle Oasis.)

Apple's quality control lately is like Mercedes in the 90s - looks good from a distance, just try not to touch it too much, it might break.

This thread made me laugh 😀 As a person who already had bezel-less, super amoled screen phone (Galaxy S8) i simply can't be so excited about X as many of it's new users 🙂 Sure it looks superb and works just fine (tried it today at the store), but for 1179 eur - not worth it. I will wait for ~3 months or something and then i will buy it brand new from the local classifieds site for 750 eur (usual practice for me). And then i will be happy with the deal 🙂

In fairness, there were a lot of folks who lost a lot of sleep over the removal of the 3.5mm

I wouldn't consider it being a Luddite to question a "progressive" change in a tried-and-true method but the bickering and personal-level comments just make everybody look stupid.

I went from a 7 to a 8+ but T-Mobile lets me get a new iPhone every year, I’m glad I waited because after seeing yellow screen complaints and next year the tech will be upgraded. Also the larger version is coming out next year which is will be great

It blows my mind people have True Tone enabled and complain of yellow screens. It literally adjust the screen temperature to the ambient light.

I got an 8 Plus several weeks ago with a deal through Sprint. Very happy (came from a 6) and not currently interested in the X.
