Better question, why is this subject being regurgitated?

It's good people should vent and that healthy, and the most important point is that it's Helping Apple to see what people like and consider it, look what happens now many people are using the iPhone 5 5S 6 6S and so why?
Price once when ATT Verizon T Mobil Sprint were subsidies the phone we replaced it very year. now not every one can afford it, no new really reason to upgrade (do you thing face ID is something spacial reason to upgrade ?)so for Apple to listen what people like I think will help them selling more product.

Sorry but the X looks much more appealing than that wannabe Galaxy that Google put out. Huge head and chin bezels and rounded corners for no reason. You also need a purse to carry it around. Looks more like a phone from 2011 than 2017.

Owned an S8 for two months, sold it. Really annoying experience. There is barely perceptible lag / delay all around that you do notice compared to the iPhone and Pixel experiences. Bixby is a fail. Curved edge screens are so useless in my opinion, to each his own. By default the phone doesn't even run at full / highest resolution you have to set it. I assumed it would just create more delay so I let it be.

I can handle the P2XL just fine and it fits into my front pocket. I agree the bezels could be smaller. Doesn't bother me. The notch bothers me.

I respect your reply, but if you look at how the space is utilized on the iphone you’ll see that there is much screen real estate with less body and you can also have more info (time, battery life, connection)

I get what you're saying. I just prefer small bezels rather than a notch cutting into the screen. I don't need to see battery, signal, etc., all the time when browsing the web. I ran a command from my PC that hides the nav bar and status bar when in Chrome. So it is totally immersive. If I want to check battery I just swipe my thumb down from top and the status bar fades in and out. The iPhone's notch and ears setup is intrusive to me. I respect that others enjoy it or don't have issues. It's what makes the world go 'round.

Of course I agree with you about letting Apple know what we dislike and why. I don't have an X, I bought a iPhone 8 instead. I can't afford to update yearly either. Carry on.

I don’t mind the notch. just hate Face ID.

Interesting. Most are opposite. They dislike the Notch, but like Face ID. I for one am neutral to both, but then again, it's just a phone to me and as long as it executes what I require it to do on a daily basis, thats I can ask for. But I do think Face ID has a lot of Potential.

The notch doesn’t really take up screen space most of the time since there would normally be blank space in the center of the menu bar anyway.

The appearance of the notch was never an issue with me. I really like the X in every way. However, the notch does prevent battery percentage from being displayed and that is an issue for me. I know it's just a swipe down from the top right to find the percentage, but I got used to, and liked just glancing at the phone to see if it needed to be charged.
I also hate that the percentage isn't displayed.

I like the Notch. What's not to like?

One the phone? Doesn't bother me one bit. Then again, I mostly use my phone in portrait mode, so I'm aware that may play a role.

Notch Johnson FTW!!

The only issue I have is landscape video. I’m sure I’ll get over that as well when I buy the new x this year.

They could have skipped the notch and just had a bezel at the top. But the advantage with the notch is that they can now move the status bar to the very top. So one more line for content.

Like a lot of people I hope it’s a temporary feature until the technology develops.
I have no issues with the notch as a temporary fix. But what is Apple is going to do when they no longer need the notch? Segmenting the top of the screen to be two separate pull down options seems poorly planned.

That is one good use of screen real estate to be honest. Lessens interface issues

If they skipped the notch and put a bezel at the top, it wouldn't provide any additional space for video. It would just make the display a little closer to the 16:9 aspect ratio most video is shot in. If you watch video in its native 16:9 aspect ratio so nothing is cropped, an iPhone X with a notch is going to look identical to that same iPhone X with a bezel instead of a notch. If you zoom the video to full screen (cropped mode) the bezel would be less distracting.

Where I think the bezel would make more of a difference for some people is in gaming. I mostly use an iPad for watching video or playing games, but I loaded up a game on the iPhone X and found that it displayed full screen with no setting to reduce it to a less wide aspect ratio. So the notch is definitely visible in the game, which makes it feel less immersive in my opinion. Not all games are like that of course, and one could argue that the developer deliberately ignored Apple's own guidelines for utilizing the iPhone X screen area.

In my honest opinion. I actually like the notch. Especially how the time and battery and all sits on each side. It's different and organised if you ask me. Having the screen that goes right across seems a bit boring these days. The notch doesn't bother me at all.

Although I don't watch much videos and viewing pictures it doesn't really make a difference.

But there are a few things that does bother me. Apple is lagging far behind upgrading phones and technology and I'm VERY close to switching to Samsung. Anyone else feel the same?

They are leading in some technologies (chips, Face ID, iOS imo) and lacking in some. Like all companies do. Apple has never been the first either so not sure what the sudden problem is really. Could you clarify what you mean with upgrading phones?

I used to think they was leading in iOS but not anymore tbh. iOS 11 went downhill and chips are only useful to a certain point lol. FaceID yes ,clearly. I feel as if other companies bring out new features and Apple spends years perfecting them then released which by then is far too late.

What I meant with upgrading phones and technology, was like the screen, fast charging, water resistance and features that have been out for a very long time on other devices. With this day and age I feel iPhones are a thing of the past compared to other devices. Just a matter of opinion though.

Well I can't say I don't agree with you about those features. But that's one of Apples "problems" especially with OLED. They probably wanted to use it sooner but they also need someone to manufacture millions of them. And that goes with many technologies. One small Chinese company can probably ship a phone with a under screen fingerprint sensor with a as for now low yield rate. Apple can't really do that with the amount they need to sell.

If you want the latest and greatest Apple really doesn't deliver that. What they do deliver in the grand scheme of things is products that work. And technologies that stay around for the next phone and not removed as it didn't get any traction with costumers.

Strange reasoning. I personally don’t care for the notch, but a bezel is NOT a notch.

Are you calling the walls around your TV (if you have one) notchs too?
They are if a larger screen could occupy that space in the same footprint. That is the principle of the iPhone X. Fit as much screen into all available space on the front.

After a week of owing the X I have no problem with the notch. I don't think I ever did until it became the talk of legend. It would be nice if it was smaller but it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the phone. I don't watch a ton of video on it. I use my iPad for that. And I love the size of it over the Plus.
