I have a feeling the 2011 refresh is gonna happen sooner than later...

I got my 2011 MBP 13" this past Tuesday. AMAZING!!!

- Sandy Bridge i7 Quad
- Lightpeak
- Blu-ray Writer
- 16GB Memory
- 512GB SSD + 1TB HDD
- 1920x1200 Display
- $999 price tag!!!

What are you all doing waiting around posting on the forum??

So, no mentioning of the GPU.
Than it has to be only onboard intel. Good for you :) EpicFail

I to belive there will be an Update in February, like the TS said. Just my Gutfeeling.

Of course, i am waiting to buy an MB. I would love to se a version without optical drive.
Hell i would even buy an Air if it would have i5&GF540M.

But sadly i dont belive the MBA will see an update, just too soon.

And the 13 will pretty much be discontinued. (again gut feeling)

We shall see.

Tod

Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum and a relative newbie to Apple.
I'm anxiously waiting for the refresh to buy my first MacBook Pro.
Can anyone tell me was the last refresh a Keynote or just a site update?

There was a site update yesterday, no keynote.

I believe the last "refresh" was a spec bump, but this was only reflected in the store.. I could be wrong though - check out the MBP section of the Macrumors Buyer's Guide.

Sorry for the confusion.
Question is: was the April 2010 MacBook Pro Update delivered by a Keynote ( like the iPad/MacBook Air) or did they just appear on the Apple Store?

It would have to be a fairly radical design change to warrant a press conference, and even then I wouldn't bet on one.

I have a feeling the 2011 refresh is gonna happen sometime in 2011. Maybe even in H1. Maybe even on Tuesday!

It's above the average, but that doesn't mean that it's the longest it has ever been since an update; the Mid 2010 models were released nine months after the Mid 2009 models were.

Yes but the guy was saying they is a year between releases on average, which there definitely is not

Why do people see the 13 as getting discontinued? Would KFC stop selling chicken? Would Home Depot stop selling hammers? Would Budweiser stop selling all light beers? Generally, good selling products aren't scrapped.

I am not saying that the 13 will come back with an amazing upgrade though; it is more price oriented than the 15/17 and so it will not have as many features. I also don't see the new MBPs making champagne fall from the heavens and immediately turn all existing MBPs into an outdated paperweight.

The 13 is gonna stay. People want the pro level power in the small size. The Air doesn't replace it because it's not a workhorse. On a 13 you can fully use sound and film software and it's still small. Can't do that on the air and the 15 is a bit large considering it doesn't have to be that big to do the same job. They will at least keep it this year.

I'm going to sleep now. Hopeully when I wake up it will be February and the morning of the refresh. Then I can read over the specs as I deliciously decide what model to go with.

How about the 24" iMac?

the 13 inch MBP will definitely stay. I go to Penn State. WE ARE......PENN STATE! and i cant tell you how many rich sorority girls or any daddys girl have the 13 inch macbook pro. It took alot of business away from the regular white macbook with just about the same specs but $200 bucks more. Its an easy way to make more money for apple. Who would want a white macbook when they could have a shinny aluminum case? Whether it gets an internal update is all in the hands of jobs replacement.
