Why not? It's only $100 more.
Yeah, fair enough, I personally just don't think it's worth it.

It seems a bit odd that they actually need to ship you the $100 gift card. Given that you need an Apple ID to use either iTunes or the App store why not just credit it to your account. There must be some aesthetic value to the card I'm missing.Ordered 2 13" ultimate configuration at 9:05am. Neither has shipped yet, they shipped the 2 $100 iTunes gift cards around 4pm. Estimated delivery date shows Jul 26 - Jul 28
It's that chalky one I assume. But what about first time buyers? Are you going to tell them that they need to go and setup an account before they can purchase? I'm a web developer as well and we do a lot of iOS apps now, I would not allow a "2nd party" (I'm assuming that's what it's called) application touch confidential information like that. What if there is a flaw in _their_ programming? It's probably for security and what not.It seems a bit odd that they actually need to ship you the $100 gift card. I got a good lol at that as well, but mine is 13" and it's Z0MG too, or did you get the size wrong?Z0MG is the part number for my 11" ultimate in the order confirmation!
I don't think this is knowable at this point. Both chips have a TDP of 17W, so there's no reason to assume this. Info: http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/21/intel-adds-to-ulv-processor-line-with-1-8ghz-core-i7-and-i5-opti/
Update 2: just got order confirmation for my order that was placed 8 hours and 20 minutes ago. Not shipped yet and no shipping email still.
Strobe, I still haven't gotten an email confirmation! Hmmm...Still says I can cancel it too. I ordered around the same time you did too... Website says: "Ships: 1 - 3 business days
Delivers: Jul 27 - Jul 29 "

I am very surprised though that I paid $10 for 2day shipping and my card is sent with 2day shipping. I'm also shocked that they sent it now because in the cart it said that it ships after the computer. Today passed quick though, hope they all do until it arrives (maxed out, Tuesday - Thursday).
Yes, of course. The first Mac that I bought using the discount was from a brick-and-mortar store.Just a quick question guys. If I buy at the apple shop, can I still get an education discount + $100 gift card?
Asking because I don't want to wait for delivery (and yes, I'm a student)

Finally moved to "prepared for shipment". Getting excited lol.
Anyone know if there is something like airplay but for video on these? I know That some discrete cards on windows laptops have WiDi that transmit the display to a receiver plugged into a TV. Wondering if there is something to do that with this MBA to my apple TV.
Because you want the customer's money ASAP. You don't want to inconvience them. And hell, if they don't redeem it, good for the company.Hadnt really been thinking about first time buyers, but what difference would it make. How could they use the card without setting up an account?
You've completely lost me with the 2nd party reasoning. If I buy an MBA online and Apple credits the $100 card to my iTunes/App store acount using my Apple ID instead of physically shipping me the card how is there a second party involved? Apple and I are the only ones involved in the transaction. For that matter its only when they physically ship you the card that an outside party is involved (FedEx, UPS, etc.)
Congrats. Still hoping for mine to move soon. I really hope it is here tomorrow.
What time did you order yours?
