Its no surprise that queue jumping is going on really.

If you were Apple, would you let each delayed iMac have a knock on effect down the chain? This would mean sending out thousands of additional delay notices and rearranging thousands of additional shipments which would lead to additional work and delays.

I'm sure Apple will just rearrange the delivery of the iMacs that were supposed to be shipped in the problem period and keep all the others to their original schedule as much as possible.

This means some people who ordered their iMacs later will get them before other people who ordered them earlier.

It's not the fairest option, but it is the sensible one.

Shipped! :) Finally. I'm in Pennsylvania and UPS tracking says November 28th. I hope everyone's ships soon as well!

We'll get them soon enough.

In the meantime I'm reading up on magic trackpad vs magic mouse, I've got both coming so I'm reading up on the pros and cons.

What are you going with?

I ordered just the trackpad but not sure I will use it. I have a Mionix NAOS 8200 gaming mouse that I really love and will probable stick with that.

I also have an Intuos Pro Medium tablet for photography work.

My current PC, which I built, has an ASUS X79 motherboard, 32GB of RAM and a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD in a Corsair case. Also has a high end Corsair power supply and water cooler. Once I get the riMac up and running I am not sure what I will do with it since I am committed to an all OS X and iOS workflow.

I am thinking about breaking it down and selling the parts on eBay. I have all the original packaging and many of the parts still have some value for builders. What do you think?

Hi from the UK,

I have been reading these threads on this forum for the last few days, positive and negative reviews.

I have ordered the

iMac-retina
4ghz 32gb ram 1tb ssd for the main hardware with the 295x graphics card as an upgrade.
Due date 11th December

My perspective is simple, times are changing bandwidth is more fully available and this device enables me to create hi-res content for a market which is now growing. This is an emerging market.

I have 4k requirements on video and hi-res imagery which also combined with drones for my shoots creates a demanding environment for content.

As this product develops so will the software drivers and associated OS X updates.

If it dies and goes wrong it can go back to Apple under AppleCare.

Just moving into an area I have also seen on here surrounding gaming and as such, I was wondering about the internals of this device not that I will do this but it just occurs that;

This is my first purchase into the iMac, please be relatively gentle.

If a gen2 or gen3 model comes out with a better/more efficient graphics card is it not feasible for them to be retrofitted into earlier models. Albeit the AppleCare arguemt, but let's just take that out of the equation for a minute.

I expect the inners to be the same, unless the main board is changed in a later revision if a new cpu is available but can't be utilised in the current socket architecture.

I hope I am making sense.

Now more than 24 hours of Preparing for Dispatch. I really hope this isn't going to revert back to Processing Items. :(

Looking at the spreadsheet, I suspect that a lot more people than have posted have advanced to Preparing for Dispatch or even had their order shipped.

At the same time, I note that no one with a 1TB SSD has yet posted about having their order sent. Could this be what's holding us back, tatty27?

Finally some update: "'preparing for dispatch"!

Ordered on the 21st October! Expected delivery date: 26th to 28th of Novemeber! ... 5 weeks waiting for the new retina iMac...

Fusion vs pureSSD: I went for the Fusion (ssd+hdd) because it will be several times easier/cheaper to update the hdd part compare to the ssd one. In 2 years I would be able to replace the fusion's hdd by a 10gb ssd. About performance, the fusion is not compromising it so much in my point of view.

I've shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiped!!!!!!!!!!

:) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Good to know about that :)

Great news tatty :). What delivery date have you got ?

I set up a ups account and applied for ups my choices to track it.

Fingers crossed for thorf and the others who ordered late October.

I've got 1st Dec but no tracking ID as yet. There are 2 packages which will merge at some point at which time I'll get a courier tracking thingy.

Weird about the two packages unless they are referring to the thunderbolt cable I ordered?

Woohoo, went from Dec 5 - Dec 10 delivery date to shipped and a Dec 1st delivery.

I am able to track my shipment, and it looks like it will arrive even sooner!

Scheduled Delivery:
Friday, 11/28/2014, By End of Day
Last Location:
Arrived - Shanghai, China, Friday, 11/21/2014

I ordered on 11/04

I've no idea whats going on here, ordered on the 30th and STILL stuck in preparing for dispatch.
