i7 / 8GB / 512 SSD / 295x

Ill upgrade to 24GB myself.

I went i7 / 16gb / 1tb SSD / 295x

Got 2 x 8gb sitting on a shelf ready to up to 32gb.

I wonder why ours are going out last when we ordered before most of the other people who posted on this thread?

I've got a 6TB LaCie 2b drive and also a 12 TB NAS so plenty of storage. I also cant see me needing more than 16GB, never mind 24 :) I wont be using it for professional video editing or photography. The odd casual game and developing mainly.

I'm in the UK, maybe that has something to do with it? Are you in the US?

No, I'm in the UK too.

I don't need 32gb but I thought seeing as I'd maxed out the rest I'd go for it. I'm worried more about future proofing it than performance.

I've got an 8tb Thunderbolt WD MyBook Duo which I'm going to use in RAID 1 for ext storage and a 3tb WD MyCloud which I already use for Time Machine on my rMBP and will be plenty big enough for the iMac to use too.

I got the 1tb SSD not for storage but because I do a lot of web app dev and have 5 or 6 vm's for testing in Parallels. The extra ram will probably come in useful when I have them running.

I have to say that despite being a sworn PC user and builder for 15 years, since I got my mbp 2 years ago all I've wanted is to go mac full time.

Almost there now and I can't wait...

The extra RAM will definately come in handy with stacked VM's

I'm pretty much the same, had a RMBP since Jan 2013 and its the best laptop I've ever had (and Ive had a few).

Converting my windows gaming rig that I hardly use these days for its original intention so will also be fully across to OSX (which I love) and will look great on the RiMac.

Hopefully tomorrow well get the email.

No movement overnight here... I was hoping to wake up to a Dispatched status, but no such luck.

tatty27, I don't know why they're dispatching later orders first either. It's very discouraging. That's not how they should be doing things. But they probably don't expect people to know, and so don't make an effort to stick to an ordered queue. I suspect they may also divide the orders into groups to fulfil them or some such thing. That could easily produce this result if some groups were a little faster than others for whatever reason.

In any case they'll get to us soon, I'm sure. Today, I hope.

We'll get them soon enough.

In the meantime I'm reading up on magic trackpad vs magic mouse, I've got both coming so I'm reading up on the pros and cons.

What are you going with?

I have both and I find that the mouse it's still the most convenient input device. Also I use an Wacom Intuos tablet and that give me the precision I need for some tasks. I recommend you to take a look at MagicMouseFix http://mmfixed.com. It's not the best looking add-on but it's good especially if you have a large hand.

Another small add-on that I found very useful it's BlueLounge Jimi. http://www.bluelounge.com/products/jimi/

As for the Trackpad hmmm... I't's not that comfortable as you end up keeping your fingers in a strange way in order to not touch the trackpad with your other fingers. I don't like myself with a pinky in the air while I'm at my computer :) and I think that stress your hand/fingers in a long time.

Thanks, I'll have a look at those.

To be honest I'll probably stick to using my logitech performance mouse while I get used to use the mac os for my day to day work.

It's one thing using a mbp for evening on the settee stuff but I think it's going to be a bit of a shock to the system using it full time

No actual shipment notification today, still preparing, but I did get my Space Bar stand to slide my keyboard and trackpad under! My iMac's home is ready. :)

I've got a shelf stashed with goodies waiting for mine's arrival. 16gb ram, an aluminium 7 port usb3 hub, thunderbolt storage, mini displayport to hdmi cable, several white usb cables and a ups because we get regular power cuts (I had a 500gb ssd killed this year, that is NOT going to happen to my new baby!)

Yeah .. Never use your most loved gears without an UPS :)
I'm not a big fan of USB hub's unless you have really gazillion of little toys. I prefer all my USB3 connected directly to my computer to get the full advantage of USB3 speed. All my backup drives are connected to my router and they do their job pretty well over AC Wifi. I don't need speed for those. The main 'WORK' drive it's and 4Gb Thunderbolt :)

For god sake BACKUP. BACKUP. BACKUP. Hdd's are cheap. I know so many people that don't have any backup and I heard no-backup stories even from people who do this for living.
Did I say BACKUP?

The hub is for things like the little logitech usb connector and dongles I have to use for work software so they're not taking up the ports on the imac which I'll use for drives etc.

The ext thunderbolt storage is using raid for redundancy. I run a business from home full time so backing up is always on the top of my list of priorities ;)

(I'm a reseller for a cloud backup company too which helps :) )

Same here. Work from home. Also have ownCloud on my server for clients and another online backup with crashPlan.
I don't use more that one USB stick at the time and that's why Jimi was the best solution :) I'm a bit OCD and I like my desk clean. And I mean clean.

You'd freak if you saw the state of my desk then lol

Don't want to look at that, and I don't ask about your code comments also ;)
I'm bad at commenting my code. I think that I will remember but that's always wrong. Sometimes I stare at my own code for hours trying to remember wtf was in my mind then. So I compensate with a clean desk :D

I'm very good at commenting my code. I have a crap memory so I've learnt the hard way!

I start to have a crap memory. Maybe that came with age :). But look like having a crap memory I don't remember that I have a crap memory so I'm still bad with my code comments.

Let's keep on the topic.
I want my computer :D .. yeah I remember that!
Still 'Preparing ...' but Sun just shine over China now.

Hi all,

Southern California
I ordered this :

i7
8g Ram
1TB Fusion
295 GPU
no apple care, paid with Credit card.
ordered: on the evening of Nov 5th.

Original Nov 21 - Nov 26 by Standard Shipping

Nov 11th apple put hold on my CC which expired on the 14th.

Nov 18th I called and asked if there would be a delay, Apple Rep said shouldn't be and I asked to upgrade to the fastest shipping possible. The Apple Rep upgraded my shipping for free, which I thought was nice.

Nov 20th (this morning) 4am got a letter saying there has been a delay new expected time is Dec 3 - Dec 5.

Nov 20th @ 9:22am got text and email from apple saying my Imac shipped. from Shanghai, CN, FedEx tracking says delivery for tuesday 25th !!!!!

-no credit card charge from apple on my credit card yet. Imac shows up in my support page now.

Very crazy !!!! Very happy to finally hear its on the plane/truck.

Only question is I figured the fastest would be next day air, so I thought I would have gotten it friday or monday, but I'm not complaining. This is my first MAC, I'm switching from high end gamming PC's to apple.

PS: I love that Space Bar Desk Organizer, just ordered it to raise the mac a little.

I have been doing some research on pricing , this is 1 of the configs I will buy, the other is the same thing only thing different is the HD, trying decide this one with 1Tb ssd or the 3TB fusion, please let me know your thoughts.

4 p.m. here already and no change. I'm getting really fed up of hearing reports from people who ordered a week or so after me and have already been dispatched. No offense meant to any of you, of course - it's Apple that's at fault.

I think all of the others should phone apple and tell them they will refuse delivery of theirs unless ours are sent out immediately! :p

I opted for the SSD for future proofing. Of all the the machines I've repaired over the years the hard disk is the most common component to fail and with the imac being a sealed unit I wanted to minimise the risk.

I do actually feel pretty bad that mines jumped the queue of the likes of yourself and tatty27.

Seems pretty unfair if you ask me
