I just don’t see the benefits of spending the best part of £1100 on a device that isn’t £400 better than the more popular phone in the range.

This is my opinion, but once you get used enough to the screen quality on an X series phone, there’s no going back. Both in OLED and pixel density. I’ve played with numerous 11 demos in the store and I notice upfront suddenly the text, I can see pixels and it’s not as clear. Going from an X/Xs to 11 would be taking a step backwards in that department and it’s not something I would do because I actually do care about the screen. Those chunky bezels, I’m really not a fan of. Finally, I have no clue why they’d get rid of the blue for the 11 when it was clearly one of the most popular Xr colours.

And also Apples leather cases, which are now exclusive to the X-series line. What I will give you though, the telephoto lens which is exclusive to X-series line, I don’t care as much for. I got a really nice headshot of myself taken a few months ago with my former Xs for something I needed, but when will I next need one? Probably not a while from now. Ultra Wide and Night Mode (available on both phones) have many more everyday possibilities and uses.

Correct everything else about the 11 is similar enough with the 11 Pro. 11 Pro still has an hour extra battery over the 11.

I can see a difference between OLED and LCD on iPhones but it’s not enough for me to prefer either to be honest. I’ve got an 8+ right now and I have to say the XR screen to me is plenty good enough for my phone needs. If I had a phone with OLED I’d probably like it just as much. I’ve known a few people now who have gone from the X to the 11 and not complained about a loss of quality too.

It’s what apple said but so many battery tests and reviews have shown different results between the two, with 11 coming out on top in the metrics vs the regular pro. Even anandtech’s review has the 11 holding out longer in most categories. Largely due to the screen resoltuion saving battery I think.

It loses out consistently (and big) when watching movies though, but that is to be expected with the OLED tech saving energy on blacks.

As for the “once you get used to oled you never want to go back” thing, that depends in the person. I have had many super screens from samsung but decided to jump to iphone 6s plus years back (even then the samsung screens were already amoled and better), then back to note 9 and now I went for the 11. I never really had trouble with on paper ‘worse’ screens or a sense of ‘wow’ when going to ‘amazewow premium screens’.

I really don’t get ‘it’ concerning these screens and I’m pretty ocd and not the average consumer. And tbh looking at some pics on this forum the pro oled screens (and the ones I checked in several stores before deciding) seem to have issues that would make a perfect LCD screen better for me and this is what I have. If you have a perfect one though, congrats.

I think it’s noticeable when looking at my pro max and my wife’s 11 but to be honest it’s not something you wouldn’t get used to..it’s still a great LCD screen

To me it’s about having the latest and greatest iPhone and looking like a boss. When I pull out my iPhone 11 Pro when I’m at Starbucks people know I have the latest and greatest because of back camera.

🙃 😂

Yea why not? With device payments it only cost $11 a month more to get the latest and greatest plus better resale value.
Yeah but I doubt everybody is looking at you in awe unless they are kids lol. You say $11 more but more than what? It’s nearly double the monthly cost compared to the iPhone 11 from what I’ve seen unless it’s a 3 year contract.

A 11 non Pro 64GB is $29.12 / month. A 11 Pro is $41.62 / month. My bad it’s $12.50 / month difference was off $1.50. Both on 24 payments.

Still for $12.50 / month I got the latest and greatest.

Not that people are looking at me in awe, they know I have the latest and greatest iPhone that Apple has.

That’s super cheap. The Plus is around £70-80 a month in my country.

If that’s important to you then fair enough. I couldn’t give a toss what people are thinking about me when I use my iPhone in public but I am 37.

No offense meant here, but I assure you, those people who see your phone, who are dealing with real life issues and have real life priorities don’t give a hair on a fly’s a$$ that you have the newest iPhone.

I see a lot of people say they have problems with the OLED PWM (headaches, eye strain), anybody know what rough percentage of people experience this with the OLED iphones? It seems like a lot of people are mentioning this. Is this something that Apple can improve on (PWM) with their displays in the future?
I don't know the figures. I've heard 10% being thrown around but I don't know the source of that info. Alls I know is that I was on the 6 and was excited to upgrade to the 11 pro. Played with it in the  store for almost an hour and when I walked out of their, my eyes felt strained and I felt an exhaustion that I don't typically experience. I went home and just laid on the couch.
so I really had no choice but to go with the 11. It's chunky and bigger than I like or want, but the pros outweigh the cons.

Nobody pays attention to me anymore at Starbucks because my iPhone doesn’t have the 3 camera’s on the back.

Got to buy an iPhone 11 Pro to flex at Starbucks again.

I can’t show my face in Starbucks anymore since the last time. My phone was ringing and I pulled it out of my pocket to answer it and pretty much everybody gasped! I think a MBP even fell on a hipsters lap in shock! I literally had to run out covering my face. I own an 8+.
