There is no sense to be insecure of what phone you have, hell Apple went as far as to make all of the phones fall in the same 11 model family this time around. Same processor, apps, cameras(-1), features, etc. Let’s be real, it’s just a phone and you our apps all work the same even on a dinosaur device. People who “Can’t live without” there OLED display on their tiny iPhone screens are watching tv/movies at home on a LCD display and not losing any sleep at night lol.

An iPhone is still an iPhone. I learnt that this year after briefly switching to a note 10+. Picking up an Xr temporarily before I went back to the Xs max. The Xr was inferior specs wise to the note 10+ but I didn’t care. I was happy to have an iPhone again. It’s the experience that matters.

I have the Xs max and my 11 pro max is coming today but they are all iPhones at the end of the day b

Give yourself some time as you can adjust. Think of the money saved. But if you prefer the smaller size Pro just go for it.

I’m just so used to compact devices. Haven’t had a plus device since 6S minus the Note9 (still use it but as a media consumption device not daily driver). Maybe I should wait. I’m just not sure if $300 is enough to justify a smaller device.

hahaha it can happen! the 11 is a little bigger but that little is really noticeable on the day to day use!
Yes it is. I find it difficult to reach the upper left to see notifications.

Yes, I know, the 11 is on the "brick" side, the 5,8 is in the fence, and makes a difference on hands and pockets; is literally 7mm shorter and 4mm narrower, but it counts.

Also consider storage, the 128 gb of the 11 are easy to catch, but the jump from 64 to 256 on the Pro is too much for me.

Yeah on paper it doesn’t seem like a huge difference. Like what’s 0.3 inches going to do for anyone. I didn’t think much of it until I started texting and trying to reach for the upper apps.

I’ll be honest I prefer the bigger phones, I wanted the XS Max coming from an 8plus but the deal for the 11 was too good. I’m not a pic taker so I don’t need 3 cameras and I had an X couldn’t tell the difference with the screen, my wife still has the X and I did compare my 11 and her X and I wasn’t a game changer for me. But I’m happy with the 11 and probably will keep it for a while. Nothing wrong with any of the phones in the 11 line they are all great, just different for the needs of what we are looking for.

I just chock up these threads as, "I was going to get the LCD iPhone all along, just wanted to use my return window to test the expensive device", then run to post how they didn't like it or it wasn't worth it.
Now they can tell anyone who listens, "Yea, I had the Pro, it just wasn't worth it."

What value does your salty post add here? Why not just move on and ignore it?

I was so excited to get the 11 pro. I was upgrading from an XR and really wanted the extra camera lens, the amazingly reviewed OLED and the 25g less weight.

however, once receiving the phone I just didn’t get on with the display. It seems muddy and yellowish to me. The fade in and fade out time for bright and low light seemed slow. I was underwhelmed.

now I have the 11 I can’t be happier. The screen seems sharper and more white. Perhaps its a taste thing but I like it so much better. I do miss the telephoto lens but will just learn to stand back and digital zoom like I did with the XR. The less weight I don’t feel much, the size seems largely the same (the screen is bigger on the 11), the alu vs steel sides are not an issue as I use a case and the battery seems largely the same. The fast 20w charger provided with the 11 pro is worth having, but I have many 10w iPad chargers around the house and they are almost as fast.

I say if you don’t mind the extra money and love the oled, the 11 pro is worth it, but for me I like the 11 better and its cheaper ....

Were you able to walk into the store and get an 11 right there, it was not backordered? And what storage capacity did you get? Just curious, as I am waiting 2 weeks as my carrier had no 11's in the 64GB configuration available, all backordered until the end of next week. I am jealous if you were able to just walk in and get one. :)

I agree though on LCD vs OLED- besides my headaches/eye aches caused by the OLED PWM when I look at my wife'sXS Max, I just prefer the look of the LCD much better- the OLED is WAY too warm, whites look orange or even light red.

I see a lot of people say they have problems with the OLED PWM (headaches, eye strain), anybody know what rough percentage of people experience this with the OLED iphones? It seems like a lot of people are mentioning this. Is this something that Apple can improve on (PWM) with their displays in the future?

I think you make a good point about the battery. To be honest after having the 11 for a short time I am not noticing too much difference from the pro. This might be because the XR was actually the long life phone of its generation and the 11 pro has being playing catch-up. The 11’s battery has only a tiny bit more capacity then the XR but the 11 pro is 25% more then the XS.
I would also like the telephoto lens. I do item photography for eBay and also flattering people shots.
Using the XR and 11 I step back and use the normal lens digitally zoomed in. It’s ok in good light but noisy in bad light. The telephoto would be less noise.
I do appreciate the new wide angle lens though, it means much less use of the pano function for me.
I would prefer a 11+ with the telephoto lens. That would be my perfect phone.
Of course any weight reduction on any of the phones is also welcome.
The 11 is 90% there ....
I went from the X to the 11 and also missed the telephoto lens because I used it a lot for video of kids sports. I bought a moment 58mm lens off eBay for $80 and it works better than the Pro telephoto lens because it attaches to the a better sensor. Is it always with me and handy? No. But 95% of my telephoto lens usage is in scenarios I know ahead of time and the thing is like having a golf ball in my pocket. Still came out $300 ahead.

I got the iPhone pro on launch day because of the smaller size , weight & telephoto lens. However, I exchanged it yesterday for an iPhone 11 because the screen font is more important than anything to my aging eyes! The iPhone 11 has "Zoomed view" mode so I can set font to the largest (without using accessibility mode that screws up screen design) and get a boost from zoomed view too. The LCD IS whiter (better black/white font contrast) also. Money is not always a factor- Reading a screen font without having to reach for reading glasses every time IS a factor. (Max is too damn big & heavy even for someone with large hands). Launch day recipients: Today is your last day to exchange!

you should definitely use what is best for you

one of the reasons I bought the 11 pro originally was that I expected a nice size and weight saving from my previous XR

However the 11 pro at 177g, practically felt very similar to the 194g of the 11.
The Samsung Note 10, at 156g, felt definitely lighter. However I decided to stay with Apple so this wasn't an option.

In terms of size, we are talking 150.9x75.7 vs 144.0x71.4
As someone mentioned above, they are the same if the 11 pro has a case on vs the 11 without a case

certainly the marginal benefits of the size of the 11 pro are worth it if you like the OLED screen. I didn't notice much difference between the 5.8" 11 pro screen vs the 6.1" 11 screen, but its nicer to have slightly bigger

For the 11, I ordered in-shop from my provider (Vodafone) in the UK. They have no stock in shop for the 11 or 11 pro, its all by order. It came three days later

At the end of the day, just enjoy what phone you have. Nobody really cares what phone you have just in the same way you don't care if I have an 11 Pro. Hell I don't even care that I have an 11 Pro. Its just a phone. I only ended up upgrading from my X so that my wife could have an upgrade from her 7. If she hadn't wanted an upgrade I'd still have my X nevermind an 11 or an 11 Pro.

Buy whatever phone you want for whatever reason you have, and let everyone else just do the same. There are far more important things in this world.

I don't disagree with you but this is an iPhone forum where we discuss iPhones, not "more important things in the world". Seriously this is one of the most vainglorious things that gets flung around here way too frequently.

I bought 11 pro as well last week. Thought all headaches due to past pwm issues I had with X are gone but this morning woke up with severe headache.
Not sure if this is because of my phone or due to my high bp. I still can’t figure out. Last time this happened with X I replaced with XR and all headaches are gone. Now am worried.

One thing I love about Pro is the telescope lens. Man that lens is so sharp and superb and useful with kids.

See the below pic with a telescope lens for example.

Why o why could Apple not have one lcd model with 3 lens. God knows. If my headache stays till Monday morning then I will replace with 11 for sure as it’s no point to jeopardise my health. These are just my opinions and am not trying to influence others.

I swapped out my Pro Max for the 11. Next year’s redesign will be more than an incremental upgrade and hopefully will be worth getting the premium option. $1100 is a lot when you can get all the must haves for $400 less.

This is part of my calculus as well. I *badly* want a zoom lens but also think I'm likely to want to upgrade next year. If I can live without optical zoom for a year, then I'll feel much better about doing a year-over-year upgrade next year. (And yes, I realize many here upgrade every year, but that's never been me.)

I lost the OLED lottery. I’m tired of this, I’ll return tomorrow my 11 Pro for an iPhone 11.

Yup. I’m with you too. I’m actually a little confused why everyone prefers the OLED so much more. My iPhone X gives me mad headaches, but I have a hard time sacrificing features to get the LCD screen. I’m hoping the iPhone 12 won’t have OLED or at least will get rid of PWM.
I was in the same quandary last year so I got the Xr. This year I found I can use the 11 Pro. I think the iPhone 11 is a fantastic phone and incredible value, though. But I am glad to have the optical zoom again. Digital zoom is very good but the optical zoom lens gets me in a bit closer without image degradation.

LCD displays do have nice color going for them.

iPhone 11 128gb for $299 with att retention under 2 year contract is the biggest bang for the buck right now. That is the phone i recommended for all my att friends.

I have in my hand iPhone 11 128gb (sams club $200 gift card) and iPhone 11 pro max 256 ($799 with att retention)

price/performance value. iPhone 11 is the phone to get.

saying that. I’m gonna to keep the iPhone pro 11 max. It’s just that i prefer the biggest screen.

I’m gonna to sell my iPhone 11 128gb to a friend for $600 after I pay it off so he can use it on verizon.

I feel less guilty spending $799 on the pro max 256gb. I felt guilty paying $1250 for the Xs max 256gb last year.

it’s all about cost. And $800 is ok with me for the pro 11 max. 2 year contract. But I’m not leaving att anytime and very happy with service especially 6 lines for $200. $33/line.
