The phone shaming needs to stop. It’s juvenile and says more about you than the person you are trying to shame. It also sounds like you think Apple makes junk. Remember when they only made one size phone, you wouldn’t dream of shaming someone for buying a 16 vs a 32 gig phone...This forum needs to get back to letting others enjoy their purchases...imo of course.

With that said just buy what works for you. If someone wants a say in what phone I buy, they better be prepared to pay for it themselves. Rant over!

I was so excited to get the 11 pro. I was upgrading from an XR and really wanted the extra camera lens, the amazingly reviewed OLED and the 25g less weight.

however, once receiving the phone I just didn’t get on with the display. It seems muddy and yellowish to me. The fade in and fade out time for bright and low light seemed slow. I was underwhelmed.

now I have the 11 I can’t be happier. The screen seems sharper and more white. Perhaps its a taste thing but I like it so much better. I do miss the telephoto lens but will just learn to stand back and digital zoom like I did with the XR. The less weight I don’t feel much, the size seems largely the same (the screen is bigger on the 11), the alu vs steel sides are not an issue as I use a case and the battery seems largely the same. The fast 20w charger provided with the 11 pro is worth having, but I have many 10w iPad chargers around the house and they are almost as fast.

I say if you don’t mind the extra money and love the oled, the 11 pro is worth it, but for me I like the 11 better and its cheaper ....

I just woke up this morning and looked at my new 11 Pro in dim light and the display seems very very yellowish. True Tone on, but it almost seems like night shift was turned on, very yellow. My wife’s XS is noticeably whiter. Also when comparing the two displays from the side, the Pro is much bluer, greener than the XS. Looking not very nice.

I still have my 8 non Plus. A big reason I still have it is because of pocketability. I wear work pants to work with a cell phone pocket and the pocket fits the 8 non plus perfect with a Magpul case. When I tried the 11 non Pro and the 11 Pro with a case it sticks out of my cell phone pocket, the 11 non Pro a little more. I don’t prefer big devices with big screens. I like the size of the 8 non Plus screen.

Yeah on paper it doesn’t seem like a huge difference. Like what’s 0.3 inches going to do for anyone. I didn’t think much of it until I started texting and trying to reach for the upper apps.

So? have you make the change?

Yup. Back to the pro and lost $50 due to different purchases in different counties (tax difference) haha

The 11 is better and cheaper and is just 7mm tall...

Is a joke of course; enjoy the pro! Do you feel the size difference?

Yeah I do because I use a case on both phones so the size difference was noticeable in my commute, which is when I use my phone the most during the day.

A lot of people prefer a cool (more blue display); however, warm (yellow) is the more accurate display :D

how is it "more accurate" ? it looks clearly yellowish, the bluer ones look more accurate to me. How do we scale these being "more accurate" ?

I’ve just done the same thing. Had the 11 Pro and returned for an 11.
The biggest annoyance for me was portrait mode on the Pro. It’s awful.

“move further away” is all I ever got whenever I tried to take a picture of anything. Spent more time trying to get it to focus and had the same scenario on my X.
The 11’s software portrait is much easier to point and shoot with.

I also don’t think the Pro is worth that much more money. It’s an amazing phone, but not £320 better. I also think the size of the 11 is the sweet spot. Goldilocks indeed!

There are so many misinformed people in this thread. “Worse battery and camera”. Both not true. Cameras are exactly the same minus the telephoto lens. Which I think most people would rather lose over ultra wide. I know I would.

yes quiet a downgrade, worse battery life, camera, etc...
It is not “quite a downgrade.” Overall performance of the phones are the same, they have the same guts.

Camera- I don’t take tons of photos and don’t miss the optical zoom lens on my Pro.

Screen- I can’t stand OLED, there’s too much variance, off axis shift, black crush / smear occasionally, and low brightness issues. I much prefer the LCD of the 11. White is white and True Tone actually works as intended.

So for me the only difference between the Pro and 11 is battery. That’s it. It is perfectly adequate on the 11. No way is the Pro Max worth $500 more to me (I opted for the 256gb Pro Max and 128gb 11).

Hmmm I should look at the color differences, honestly, haven't really noticed, for me battery is huge... I just can't imagine the screen for most, 11 being better if it is anything like my sons XR, which to be seems honestly, sub par -

Then if rumors are true, you're gonna like that 2020 "SE"

I am glad the original poster purchased the best device for them.
Needless to say, I have returned MANY a smartphone. Seriously, LOADS of them...! :)

Yes, it is very subjective. I’m very happy so far with the 11 LCD screen quality, and I’m insanely picky when it comes to screens.

I wouldn’t want a smaller screen than my 8 non plus though.

It's rumored to be that size. I know lots of people that want that size.

I did so many returns/exchanges this past week that I lost money due to different sales tax rates haha

Because you used the telephoto to make the portrait.

You can swich to the 1x (wide) and it behaves like the 11

Nope. Switching between both lenses and it was painful. Watched an interesting YT video who compared the two cameras and he even confirmed the 11 had a better portrait mode, as the XR did (on human subjects) over the XS last year.

Your eyes will adjust to the more yellowish color. It is the same way with TVs. How is it more accurate? Based on real tangible measurements.

Like I said though, a lot of people prefer the cooler color temps (blue). Most TVs the color profile Warm 2 is the most accurate.

Many people prefer an inaccurate display. It is what they are used to.
If the white point on the 11 pro is 'accurate' then the ipad pro, imac pro, macbook pro, and lg 5k monitor are garbage... I don't think that's the case.

I can't wait to hear the defense as to why apple's $5,000 XDR monitor looks different than this 'accurate' display on the 11 pro.

I just chock up these threads as, "I was going to get the LCD iPhone all along, just wanted to use my return window to test the expensive device", then run to post how they didn't like it or it wasn't worth it.
Now they can tell anyone who listens, "Yea, I had the Pro, it just wasn't worth it."

I chock them up to seeking approval from people they don’t know on the internet. It’s weird to me. I read these threads because they are funny. Up and down and left and right the 11 Pro is better than the 11. To each his own, but I don’t understand the need for public approval.
