Thanks to GrahamWho for confirming my exact scenario. I had hoped that's what would happen. I'll continue to maintain the master iTunes ID and the separate @me ID for 'everything else.'
The migration process for MobileMe users will move Mail and Calendars to iCloud, and MobileMe users will continue to be able to use Gallery, iDisk and iWeb publishing through June 30, 2012 even though those services are not making the transition to iCloud. A number of syncing services that had been available for MobileMe, including Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items, Keychain, Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, Signatures, and Smart Mailboxes, and Mac OS X Preferences, will become unavailable immediately upon moving to iCloud.
Your link took me to a non-working page
I guess I am going to have to export my 68Gb iPhoto Library into my Windows 7 computer because Apple wont support Photo Stream on Snow Leopard?
That sucks man, they can build an iCloud client for Windows 7, but not for Snow Leopard...
As far as adding your gmail email to iCloud as a secondary, i don't know seems like that could make things real confusing real quick. I wouldn't do that yet until you get familiar with how everything works you may not find it neccesary.
But your right about logging in to iCloud with your mobile me and logging in to your gmail for apps.
The thing is you hardly ever have to login to your iCloud acct and enter your password. the only time i do it. is when I'm restoring and have a blank phone and have to enter it in at the very beginning to start the restore from iCloud. Or if i was logging in to iCloud.com. Thats it, it never asks for it besides that.
The only time you enter in your iTunes pw is when you are buying apps or music, and when you do it then the login part is already filled in, you just enter your password in. So really, in practice the only time you'll ever be logging into anything is when you first setup your device, and a Password when you buy apps/music.
Looks like I'll be doing the "not recommended" thing and using my existing MobileMe account as my iCloud account, and my Apple ID used for iTunes, etc. (a gmail acct) for purchases...
im on leopard. this sucks!!!!
Looks like all the support pages are temporarily down. Very bad timing. That link should work eventually though.
Can anyone answer me this:
I use Apple TV to view photos from my brother-in-law's MobileMe gallery. If that gallery isn't making the transition to iCloud, will I know longer be able to see those photos after June 2012?
"Well, digidesign hasn't updated their software to work with Lion yet". Sucks for you. Should have been using Logic.

The hell they didn't- it is called iDisk, and it's going away. Who really cares if Pages syncs to the cloud? Over 75% of the planet uses Word so that kills that tool.
Oh, and Gallery- some people actually like(d) that.
BTW, what have they added to iCloud (iTunes aside) that was not there in a better form with MM?

So I just read apple's FAQ on this, and in a word, yes. You can keep using the gmail address as your iTunes buying login and the cloud address for other syncing. Or you could just start making purchases with the mobile me address. I might do that so it's all under one - at least going forward.
Right - but that mobile me account id will not be associated with your old purchases only new purchases going forward- so how will that work?
For those of you who have the following setup:
1. @me.com for Sync services (i.e. Mobile Me acct)
2. @domain.com for iTunes acct/Apple ID (i.e. Gmail)
If you do not use your @me.com as your primary email but do use Mobile Me for sync services I would suggest to use your @domain.com to setup iCloud and keep your Mobile Me acct separate for now.
Later on we will find out weather we will be able to merge our @me.com email addresses into iCloud or if we close our Mobile Me acct we can reaquire our @me.com email address through activating the mail portion of the iCloud control panel.
That is the best case scenario at the moment. However, please note, this only applies if you do not use your @me.com email address as a primary email.
As per Apple FAQ the ideal situation is to have one email address for Apple ID/iCloud.
has anyone upgraded to iCloud and tried using a snow leopard computer with these services yet?
Bitch about third-party vendors not updating their apps for Lion all you want but I have no pity. They had a long beta period and it's been out now for three months. They should have already updated their software.
So is this a lie?

True, but why does that matter? Just leave your computer authorized on the old account and make sure you've synced the media to your idevices. I guess you wouldn't be able to use iTunes in the cloud to access your old purchases, but that's it (I'll never donthat anyway).
Still, they should really just allow account merging. This is silly.
