So I bit the bullet and picked up the 12.9. First reaction, wow. Huge. But a lot of that comes from unfamiliarity. We are used to 9.7 and 7.9 sizes. So it's natural for it to be different, awkward, and so on. Once that's settled in, it's lovely.

If you're on the fence, I'd say buy it, take it home and take it for a test size. Hands on experience helps.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Congrats! I did the same thing. I have had my 12.9" for about a week now and I absolutely love it. It felt big the first day and now it feels perfect. I miss the screen real estate whenever I go back to my 9.7 now.

Each size lends itself to a specific type of usage. 12.9 users are generally looking for a laptop replacement, something that they can be as productive as possible with. 9.7 inch users seem to be looking for more of the classic iPad experience. Reading, some games, media consumption, etc. This is not to say that both sizes aren't able to perform all tasks mentioned, but I'd much rather have a 12.9 if I'm looking to be productive, but I'd want a 9.7 if I was needing to hold it and reference notes or slides while speaking to people.

This is why I found it puzzling that Apple came out with a 9.7 inch pro. Yes it has ASK and pencil support, but it's just an Air 2 with some upgrades. The experience that the 12.9 brings cannot be duplicated on a 9.7 inch device, it just can't. I used a 9.7 at work today since I left my 12.9 at home and it's tiny in comparison, which means more scrolling and zooming, and a cramped keyboard which all equals less productivity.

If you are looking for the classic iPad experience, get the 9.7, if you want the maximum productivity, get the 12.9.

For my usage, I need maximum productivity and screen real estate, so I would much more for a 12.9. Having it for the same price to me is an absolute steal. Others would disagree, that's why we have choices.

Also, I notice that most people who don't care for the 12.9 are using it the exact same way they've always used iPads. It's a completely different animal. Just like when the ip6 plus came out. People flipped out because they couldn't use it one handed the way they had always used iPhones. It's a different product. It's great for some and not good for others.

Can I just add to my previous comment. People these days like big TVs and big monitors right?

You don't have to be a 'pro' user to enjoy a decent size screen. I'm not. I use the pro for the same things as my mini in fact, both are mirrored for apps and app placement even in the drawers. :)

As I've said in other threads, it really depends on the person and their uses. For me, the 12.9 was too large and inconvenient and I'd reach for my iPhone 6S Plus instead. Now that it's gone, (good riddance) I go for my tablet.
If I need a bigger screen I'll buy a ultrabook.

9.7 here. I don't care about how long (ram) it'll last since I'll upgrade in couple years anyways. The form factor works best for me. Screen quality means a lot to me.

That's a good outlook. The 9.7 Pro seems more like the follow on to the Air 2 than it does an expansion of the 12.9 Pro line (if that makes any sense).

It weighs more than the original iPad LMAO

I suppose you and I different, I prefer the iPad to be lightweight and thinner for ease of handling and portability and don't think it should get heavier and heavier, but that's just me

Of course it weighs more... It is bigger! Ha. And it is only a little bit heavier than the original.

It is far from unweildy at least for me.

Agreed. Different strokes for different folks.

I have an iPad 4 and bought the iPP 12.9 when it went on sale after the 9.7 was announced. Like others, at first I thought it was too big, but I am totally used to it now. My old iPad 4 looks tiny in comparison nowadays. It's not that heavy, a couple pounds with a case. The screen and speakers are great if we want to watch TV or a movie in bed once in a while.
I don't use it for anything but consumption and other useless things, so I can't say if it could replace my laptop, because I haven't had a laptop for years. It don't think it could replace my Mac at this point, but who knows.
I was all set to get the 9.7 iPP (I was never really interested in the 12.9 when it was announced), but a 12.9 sale prompted me to go check it out, and I couldn't resist. I am glad I did, because I wouldn't have known what I was missing.
I had almost the exact same thing happen and for the same reason. Love mine.

thats an insane deal, too bad none of the random zip codes i put in had one within 250 miles

Yeah, I was able to buy online but they must have only had a few in stock. I saw this same deal for the Gold color last week and just kept checking the site daily.

how long ago did you order it? I'll keep an eye out,

I still find 12.9 to be overkill, but for $449, this might be a great companion to my Air2 :D

dang i hope another opportunity comes along,

been following these forums closely recently just for fun, and missed it :(

$449 might change my tune, dabbling into the pro line

I just bought a 12.9 after the price dropped with the 9.7. I'm really happy with it. Makes the 9.7' seem way too small. It's a totally different product basically, and a great complement to an iPhone 6 Plus.

Edit: damn. I paid 760 for my 128gb. I kind of feel ripped off now.

About 2 hours ago and Stevey69 must have bought right after that.

bought one the moment I saw the link by Golfer00ksu, I was initially looking to purchase 2 but cancelled one. Went back to buy another again and had no luck so must've sold it out quickly.

hopefully it gets replenished, i think i'd give it a shot :)

can't believe this exists, crazy deal. i just hope it doesn't get the inevitable deal effect and never return

I just purchased another 256gb iPad pro 9.7' for $1000, makes me wonder if its worth spending the extra cash on a smaller screen. Ah! decisions!!

No, you are not ripped off, since many of us 12.9" lovers actually bought it in last November, paid full price, and didn't know that price go down so much just in 3 months after new 9.7" Pro came out lol
Well, still no regret to me and I've been loving my 12.9" Pro experience though :)
