No, you are not ripped off, since many of us 12.9" lovers actually bought it in last November, paid full price, and didn't know that price go down so much just in 3 months after new 9.7" Pro came out lol
Well, still no regret to me and I've been loving my 12.9" Pro experience though :)

I, too, bought the 12.9 at full price, and no regrets. If I had waited unti prices came down, that would have been several months I didn't get to use and enjoy the iPP. For me, it's been worth every extra dollar to have it for those extra months.

I understand the whole "only you can decide what works best for you". Just wanted to see what people would choose if prices were the same since the 12.9 is technically $200 more (msrp)

I would still choose the 9.7. The 9.7 is the ideal size for my use and workflow. The 12.9 is just too big for me.

You can, but it feels cramped. I was using splitwindow in my Air 2. It was workable but not ideal. I was happy to have the capability than to not have it. But with the 12.9 Pro, split window really shines.

Yeah, splitscreen works on the 9.7 but is a bit cramped. In a pinch, it can get the job done.

But your comment raises a bigger question, namely, choosing the right device for the task. For handling routine emails for example, I can do that on my phone or iPad. Same with signing an official letter or form my secretary sends me. How about editing or annotating a draft of a document a colleague has sent to me? I would not even attempt that on my phone -- screen is way too small. I could do it on my IPP, especially now with the Microsoft apps and their capabilities, if I am travelling out of the office. Or I can wait until I get back and do it on my iMac. It just depends on the situation. But the point is not to use one device for all things -- use the right device for the task at hand. That's what will make you efficient.

My wife keeps the IPM4 in her purse and my daughter uses the IPP 12.9 for drawing. Considering iOS manages RAM impressively well and I'm not making use of USB 3 speed through the lightning port, the IPP 9.7 is the device I use, mainly because of the convenience of its size.

Exactly.

Because of the variety of things that I'm involved in, I found it necessary to have a smartphone, a tablet, a notebook, and a desktop computer... configured in such a way so that I can at a moment's notice take any of those devices and continue working on documents that I had previously edited or created on another device. Added to the mix, were different operating systems... iOS, Android, OSX, and Windows.

Over time, as different devices became available, I swapped out one for another. The focus was on merging and converging the notebook and tablet slots. I was so close... the Surface RT and 2 were very capable as notebooks but fell short on the tablet experience. Other Windows 2-in-1's that I tried failed as well.

It became clear to me that I'd have to "settle" on the iPad Air 2 + 11" Macbook Air as my mobile solutions and no merging/converging could happen at this time.

The 12.9" iPad Pro helped to change that. It took a significant price drop to get me to give it a try. Now having owned it for over a month I can say that it is about 90% of the way to where I need it to be. Just one or two more improvements/enhancements to iOS and I'll be set. It is doing an admirable job of replacing both the Air 2 and MBA.

That's great, I hope it continues to work out for you. I'm still exploring the IPP 9.7's capabilities, but if they pan out as I think they will, I will likely sell my 11 inch MacBook Air and use the IPP instead for travel work. I have to say, keeping all my devices (as well as my wife's) in good working order and up to date can be a chore. Care and feeding for 3 devices instead of 4 would be a big help.

Oh yeah my air 2 is no slouch and I still think 9.7 may be my preference anyways but the pro at 450 seems like a no brainer.

Especially if I luck out and get one on 9.1. Jailbeeak 4gb of ram and pencil support sounds awesome

Ya, well, I got mine a week ago.

back in stock!

just ordered one :) $449 is killer, cant wait should be here monday (maybe not this monday but next.. i can wait either way). I had to do a double take, i was casually refreshing for the past few,

this may just accompany my air2, could go back, or could replace it. for the money, I'm sure I wouldn't spend much out of pocket to upgrade.

Going to give a few days of test driving before making any hasty decisions,
Fingers crossed its on 9.1 but I'll be doubtful,

...returned early on in the past, because it was impossible (for me) to justify sticker price for a tablet, period.

Glad this deal has gone under the radar, otherwise there would be SD effect

Thanks for the update! I want to buy one for my mom but do you know if AppleCare+ can be purchased for refurbished units?

not sure, not even sure what 'geek squad recertified refurbished' means-- are these open box that have been looked at for half a second?

Can't imagine them tearing up the tons of adhesive and refurbishing them, themselves.

They're probably just used but in good condition, that were cleaned up by best buy and repackaged. Thanks btw I picked one up and am resisting the urge to post to slickdeals.

seems inevitable anyways nothing is kept secret, just posted it.

Want to give people the opportunity, SD'ers are good people too. Hopefully resellers won't buy it up, but I don't think you'll do too well anyways after all the craigslist hassle and tax, etc. and it being a more niche product.

Run the risk of having people wanting to resell who see it on macrumors too, so..

It was $640 on the front page two days ago! I'm sure somebody is going to buy up a bunch to resell.

I'm going to look at the condition of it and if it is Like New I'll sell/return my 128GB model I paid $760 for. This is a $270 savings!

Yeah there will always be that person, but I'm hoping the good outweigh the bad,

SD'ers are hunters too, they would've found this deal eventually,

I promise some people will scoff at being "Geek squad refurbished" too, good let them :)

It's a legit thing to be worried about. I've gotten great deals on used stuff from Best Buy before, but it is always missing accessories, and they are never helpful about giving additional discounts to make up for it.

Edit: looks like it is already dead. So much for the Karma :)

True, but for the price, I'm willing to give it a shot :)

Also, I think it's out of stock people are saying when going to check out. Got downvoted to hell, and told mods to delete thread-- let them be ungrateful.

Glad I secured one,

has anyone's shipped yet?

exactly! that's why im not worried about it, at all.

i have a feeling the deal will always get downvoted anyways, since the window of open stock is so narrow.
Maybe it is SD-effect immune

There was a similar deal for refurb iPhones at wal mart a couple weeks ago. They were constnatly out of stock but stock would be added every hour or so, it got upvoted a lot.

you would indeed be my hypothetical forum son by virtue of name, judging by the start date on the site :p

I'm excited to give this a whirl, i have a whole new set of eyeball lenses and approaching this device for the price paid. i have a feeling I'm going to be wow'd and perhaps for the first time ever, keep holding onto dual iPads. Awkward at times I'm sure it will be, but I'm at least going to give it a week test drive,

almost kept mini2 and air2, but handed mini2 down to a family member. could always do that with the air2, if i dont resell or keep it around,

and the pencil is almost certainly in the cards, too. but the smart keyboard, eh:

Mine is delivering Tuesday. I'll follow up with condition of it. I'm guessing this is the stuff they used to sell on cowboom.
