When are you lot going to learn to ignore the photos!!! This does not photograph well on your wrist!! It looks huge when its not. You can only judge this thing in person, trust me.

This.

You really need to try both sizes yourself. I thought that the 42mm would be too big for my small wrists, but when I tried both sizes in person I thought that the 42mm looked great and that the 38mm actually looked small.

It needs to be seen in person.

Yes, this. Ignore the trolls in this thread and listen to those who know what they're talking about.

Read the other posts. You're full of crap because you haven't tried it on. Keep spreading misinformation buddy. I don't see your try-on photos anywhere... you're just guessing.

The age comparison was mostly directed at body size and is not meant to offend anyone.

Again. Do you not think that watches have come in 38mm sizes before? There's plenty of wrist pictures of a 38mm being worn and they fit just fine.

I (and many others here, I'm sure) have used this http://www.mcelhearn.com/try-out-apple-watch-sizes-on-your-wrist/ to measure our sizes on the wrist — and guess what? We preferred the 38. It happens! People have different opinions and size preferences!

OP: Stop damage controlling and defending everyone who favors you and crying foul everyone who does not. People aren't as clueless as you'd like them to be.

Never mind the strap the watch body looks way too big for your wrist. I hope they do look smaller in person because in the photos that watch is clearly too big for you.

Have to stick up for the OP here, the 38mm is way smaller than I expected in person and no matter how I took a photo it came out looking bigger, it's because we are trying to take the pic ourselves, and too close as others have said. If you note in the side by side pic check out the comparison of the 38 against the guy holding the sports watch's hand...gives a closer indication. If I was deciding based on the OP's pics, I too would of agreed with most of you, but after seeing the watch for myself, I hold judgement.

I've been through my old watches and not one of them is over 38mm (in fact, most are 35mm). I know that big watches are popular, but I've never liked a watch that dominates my wrist (might be an age thing :))

I find it amazing that so many people jump all over the OP for the 38mm looking huge, when he specifically said that the photos make it falsely appear that way (which is due to perspective issues with cameras at that distance). They then ignore the OPs, and many others, real life experiance with the actual watch who all have said the 38mm is too small.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... alot of people are going to be dissapointed with their choice of the 38mm on the 24th. Not me though, and obviously not the OP.

I and many others have said the exact same thing on plenty of threads. The watches are very small in person and even when you try to photograph them on a wrist to prove that it does the opposite.

I would trust the judgment of the many people who have actually seen and tried them on in person than these armchair commentators.

This person on another thread has tried on the 38mm and thinks it looks better

Me with the 38mm Sport edition at Covent Garden (no appointment either).

So for me personally, it's fine and really comfy.

Saw quite a few people trying on the 42mm, then the 38 and they were more happier with the 38 in relation to their wrists.

Basically, it's all down to personal preference.

Just to clarify, there is no "boys" version, no "girls" version, just different sized watches.

I still don't know why you guys think people haven't tried watches on in the past. I've had numerous sports watches in the past and they have all been huge. I've kind of accepted that is how sports watches are. Based on that, I know 38mm is bigger than I'd like but I'll accept it. The activity tracker I wear now is 28mm and it feels like the perfect size to me. I'm not sure why you guys worry about wearing a 'girls' watch when there is no such thing.

As determined as I am that I want the 38, I have made an appointment for today to try the two sizes on.
I will post later my findings but I really hate you guys for making me doubt my decision.

Agreed.

Iconic Tag Heur Monaco (McQueen). Pretty sure it's 38mm

Some people like big watches, we can't criticize the OP's opinion.

What we can criticize is how he is trying to minimize the opinions of everyone else. I want the watch to be as small as possible and still functional. That's obviously the 38mm. I have a round 42mm (regular) watch that is a bit too big for me, and it's a bit thinner than the Apple Watch. The square edges will make the 42mm feel that much bigger (even though it'll be narrower than my round one). Judging from the picture I think my wrists are bigger than the OP's, though maybe not by much.

I don't want my wrist to scream, "Hey look! I got an Apple Watch!" Personal preference, I just don't want the attention or the attitude from people who think it's a waste or don't know what a smartwatch can do for them. That's why I pre-ordered the gray aluminum with a black band (ordered at 3:15AM EDT - 4-6 weeks). I figured it'll be the least obvious that it's anything special. Well and Apple is awful at picking colors for their non-leather accessories (goes for their cases as well). Hopefully I can get to an Apple store to try one on and cancel if I do think I made a mistake, but the closest Apple store is an hour away in an annoying traffic area, and I have kids I'd rather spend that time with.

So please, these opinion flogging threads serve no purpose. Maybe politely say why you bought what you did, but don't try to make everyone else feel stupid - we don't, because we're not.

I just posted on another thread how I'm bowled over as to how different (small) the exact same watch looks on my wrist:

I'd say that looks perfectly normal, not "small."

After seeing the other photo posted, I'm glad I've ordered a watch in both sizes. Space grey sport at 38mm in the first delivery wave (4/24-5/8) and silver sport at 42mm in second delivery wave (5/13-5/27).

I'm going to the Apple Store tomorrow with an appointment to try them on. I'll see which size I like better and cancel the other.

FYI - I'm a male, 6'2" tall. However, I have thin wrists (my wife calls them tiny); 55mm across and 155mm around.

I know people keep saying guys should go for the 42mm, but most of them also have wrists at least 60-65mm across. Don't forget those of us really with thin wrists.

Funny, the OP is the one who sounds 14. This thread is just as bad as the 'white iPhones are for women' threads.

I do appreciate all the pictures as they seem to argue against what the op is saying. I have an appointment at 11:45 to try one on in person, but with ship times slipping for several weeks, there's no way I'm canceling my order.

+1

I was worried the 42mm was to big, but it fitted perfect and the 38mm looked ridiculous! Glad I ordered the 42mm this morning!
