I think the reason people here are psyched about the Lumia 900 is that deep down, many iPhone users are like myself and really want the smoothness and stability of iOS but with a screen over 4 inches in size and with a unibody design that other than Apple, only Nokia can design. I think it will become iPhone's biggest competitor when it comes out.

If Apple doesn't make a phone with a bigger screen this year, I'll be looking at the Nokia line of Windows Phones very closely when Apollo comes out around the same time.

My only big issue next to interface tweaks is app availability, but Windows 8 and Nokia's phone line may be what convinces app makers to finally port to a 3rd OS.

Windows phone. Specifically, the Nokia Lumia.

I don't like the look of Android. In fact, I think Windows Mobile 7 looks better than iOS 5!

You know how many phones that matched the iPhone's qualities this closely in the US have been given a shot? Zero.

Actually I could think of alot of them...

... but I love the Lumia 900 and want to see it succeed where others have failed :)

WinPho7 smoothness, nokia hardware elegance, nokia drive, big battery, and no fragmentation due to hardware requirements by Microsoft making updates MUCH easier for everyone.

For me WinPho 7 just needs higher screen resolution + ability to use a bluetooth keyboard with it the same way WinPho 6.5 used to be able to...

Yup... just like I thought. No sources...

Glad you personally like WP7 though, it's a nice 2nd/3rd option to have and will only get better over time :)

When you say sources what are you asking? Like Tony Soprano Because your questions makes no sense at all.

No it is the best os. it doesn't have every app but operating system it is the best. It runs better on less resources, has the best battery life and is smoother than IOS.

Apple needs to get out of this stupid spec war they are having with android and just be apple. For me the best thing about IOS was the battery, simplicity, and support. They lost battery and simplicity.

Evidence says otherwise.

All WP phones have less battery life compared to iphone.

And about smoother than iOS: How do you test the smoothness? Do you have any subjective or quantitative method to measure this? or is it just the same age old answer "i know and i feel"

Dude, what are you talking about? Look at the first graph on that first link you shared.

When it comes to talk time, the Lumia 800 beat the 4S.

The problem is that AMOLED screens suck up more battery than the iPhone's screen, as stated in the article, not that WP is any worse than iOS for battery life.

I own both the lumia and iPhone 4s. The nokia gets better battery life my iPhone would get me to about 4:00 pm and my nokia lasts till the next morning. Some 800's had bad software which made affected a large majority of phones. A update fixed that. Lets be honest the iPhone is and always will be a great phone but it does have flaws. The screen is a tad small, as the updates have rolled in it has lost lots of battery life(When I first got my iPhone 4 on launch day the battery lasted 2 days now hours), and now the settings its a bit complicated.

That's a no-brainer for me. Being a Linux advocate and hating anything that has to do with Microsoft, I have no choice but to go with Android.

I said BlackBerry, because I've always kind of wanted one. Not enough to give up my iPhone for, but just to see what all the hype is about. So if the iPhone wasn't available, I'd likely wind up with a Bold.

That said, I really like WebOS, so if it survives, that would probably be my choice. :)

Blackberry

I've Owned the Curve 9300 (Terrible), but i currently have the Bold 9790 thats my back up phone just incase anything happens to my precious iPhone. BBM is a great feature and it has a good physical keyboard

If this poll was asked exactly a year ago, I think Android would have been winning and a little bit more decisively. WP was still very new and immature. It still shows in a way right now even with Mango out. Now Android is losing by less than 5% in this poll when it took the early lead.

One thing I like about Android is the toggle switches. I know SBSetting exist for iPhone via JB, but I like how that is stock with Android. Just put the power control widget and you can turn off the Wi-Fi without always going into the settings.

With Windows Phone, I love the transition effects. I like how you can pinch your photos even smaller and just roll it left or right like a carousel. I show pix alot to my friends and family which makes it easy to have the rolling effect.

Neither Android and WP are really that great with battery vs iPhone 4/4s. It depends on the model sometimes and what specific task. Both can consume alot in the background if those switches are turned on.

But when it comes to multi-tasking and how to close apps, I think webOS was easily the best even if battery life on the devices was usually awful too.

BlackBerry phones probably had the best battery life for years but they didn't do a whole lot either. But RIM is in trouble and I don't see them being in the hardware business very long with BBX being delayed. But they always had a solid platform if you want basic messaging and email. I still envy the look and build quality of the 9900 though.

My favorite UI comes from WP and webOS. But the better platform/ecosystem is iOS from top to bottom, hardware + software. Total package.

Not to be a jerk, but if you're a Linux advocate, why do you use Apple products? Every Linux user I know hates Microsoft and Apple equally and carries an Android phone.

Your argument means that Galaxy Note has the best battery life.

Obviously, since it needs a massive battery to power the giant screen. It has a factor that the other phones don't when the screens are turned off for making calls on all the phones.

You would be extremely disappointed.

Definitely Windows + Nokia device. I left Android for iOS and am perfectly content so far, but I love the simplicity and connectedness of the WP7 operating system. I ran a WP7 launcher on my Droid for close to 6 months and almost didn't want to give it up. Windows easily has the best setup for notifications. I spent FAR less time messing with my phone to get to the info I needed than I do with the 4S, and WAY less time than with Android.

I'm past the point of constantly "messing" with my phone and a really sour experience with Android is enough to make me look past it for awhile.

That's not even a question. Android is the only real alternative that has developer support. Android is most of the way to where iPhone is, and some stuff is actually launching on Android now. WP7 has very little developer support, even though the Nokia hardware looks sick. If there were no app markets on any of the platforms, and I had to use what came with it, it would be tough. Nokia hardware or native Google stuff. Google would probably win.

I've already used a BlackBerry and I thought it was a complete P.O.S but I put up with it until my contract ended. I have always been curious to try out Android, but I haven't read much about the Windows mobile OS. If I couldnt have my iPhone anymore I would probably start out with Android and then cycle through and try out all the mobile OS's then decide which one I like.

That's what I notice about Android users. They love changing their phone as much they love using their phone. Maybe more so.

I voted BB because I'm familiar w/ their OS and was previously a Blackberry user and liked their devices. But, if I were to switch from the iPhone, I'd also consider and look at Android devices (I believe at one point Android devices didn't have Exchange support or something along those lines so they were automatic writeoffs for me at the time, whereas they do now).

I would think you'd vote for Android then.
