What's taking people so long to release different color conversion kits? I'm sure my girlfriend would dig a Pink iPhone and I'd love something in a deep maroonish red.

Its funny you said that I have heard that Apple is going to introduce a pink iPhone 4 instead of the white. The factories in China have been making pink glass for a little while now.

The images used to support iFix Direct merely show the final conversion. There are no images of the parts by themselves, let alone images that prove they are good quality parts. While people can vouch for them on the internet, none have been able to provide pictorial evidence. Hence, what you (can or can not) call them is negligible.

Since pictorial proof doesn't exist, I would rather wait until Spring 2011.

look at the provided link he shows pictures. here are some i took for a friend real quick. I should note that he adds, not only protective flim over the front glass, but also on the back side. which is a very nice touch, added protection is always good.

I'm not familiar with all of them, but people are questioning the company so I'm sharing all the info that i know and aware of.

I was not saying anything bad.....all glass comes with protective film over them . Usually the the back and front have them as well...

isn't it a little obvious that you'd cast shade on these guys since they are your competitors? especially since they seem to offer the conversion service cheaper. you make fair points - just saying.

No not at all......did you see me saying anything bad at all about them?.... I was a member here long before we opened.....well you look back now but when people where speaking bad of zeetron I am pretty sure ifixdirect and I made the same points about them.....Kind of resent your statement actually.

the problem is there are good repair shops and bad repair shops as well as part suppliers all over this country. zeetron just happens to lie about what type of parts they sell. if you know your getting a cheap aftermarket part going in then you will be happy but if you think you are getting an original apple replacement part then you will be

Didn't he say macrumor referrals get $10 off if you just mention macrumors? I think i remember him saying that before his posts got pulled down.

This isn't about zeetron this is about ifixdirect. If you want you can make a thread all about bashing zeetron. Stay on topic, thank you.

I find it funny 2 repair companies in this thread have something negative to say. How they're allowed here and ifixdirect is not I'll never know.

I've been wondering the same thing myself. Boot the new guy trying to defend himself in favor of older members who clearly have a business pushing similar services?

Double standard?

On topic, my over nighted package with my conversion kit seems to be stuck in the NYC post office for some reason? Grrrrr

I just ordered their service to swap te colors. I'm not entirely comfortable with me doing the repairs, and it's only $10 more.

Lol tell me about it. One guy advertised right in here so it's a trip.

That's the post office for you, is this the self kit? Good luck on the conversion. I hope it goes much smoother for you then it did for me.

That $10 will go along way. It's best to do it that way, Just to be safe. I learned my lesson the hard way.

Yea, and I figure if there's any broken or bad parts, they'll fix them there, so I don't have to deal with sending parts back. And with th macrumors coupon code, I got $10 off so it's like free shipping!

#1 I dont do the white conversion swap. I wont use the aftermarket parts because of all of the issues that you guys are reporting.

#2 I dont know anything about this iFixDirect guy good or bad. my point is I think they are related to ZeeTron in some way. either the same company and a different name, friends that worked together or something. to many similar points suggest this.

I sent iFixDirect an email yesterday but they havent gotten back to me yet. I was wondering if they can give an option of using a different shipping method other than USPS (for an extra cost of course). Because hearing stories for you guys, I don't think I would want to be without a phone for a long time.

Parts Came!!!

So for those of your waiting the time has finally come. My package from ifixdirect came today. I haven't started the install and probably won't at this late an hour. I want to video the process in case something goes wrong so I want time to set that up.

First impressions, the parts seem legit. I don't however have anything to base a comparison on. I did remove my back panel to compare and it looks better then the one I got off eBay. Flash diffuser looks a lot better also.

The front half of the phone does have Apple branding on the cables. Does that make it OEM? I'm not going to start that argument again. It is what it is.

Colors seem to be a pretty solid match all around, even the home button. I didn't order the dock or headphone jack kit.

Onto the pictures.

Good to know! I'm shipping my phone to New York on Friday to get the conversion done.

when you do the install make sure to just take it slow. Also when you unscrew keep them all lined up, then work backwards. Lastly when you take out the front and try to add the white front, when looking at it from the backside, im not sure if that's the lcd plug, but the second one behind the first make sure that goes in all the way; It has a habit of crunching up and you won't even tell. I noticed that the plug didn't come down because of this and i had to unscrew everything all over again.

before you even start make sure the home button fits well with the front. just insert it and make sure it doesn't get stuck, this happened to me which is why i needed a new front, but i'm sure you're fine.

For you DIYers...a little tip esp. on the part waltercln mentioned.. take a piece of scotch tape and tape from the loop on the digitizer to the lcd cable that way you will ensure that you do not crunch up that loop.....

Nice pictures. They're the only company that has a speaker mesh on the front.
The back is a little crooked though. But that's minor.

The video of you doing it will be invaluable for me if you can post it online .. :) good luck!
