but apple was having problems with prox sensors and they issued a patch to fix it? I'm not a tech guy at all but it seems to me the software did affect the hardware in apples case so why wouldnt it be possible with other parts?

Here is the issue. He blamed it on the jailbreak not the software. Plus bgr.com reported the same issues with a assembly they got and it was determined to be the assembly at fault. Jailbreak could cause a software issue not a hardware one. If it was a issue with the jailbreak the black assembly would not have worked either.

I was going to get iresQ to do the swap, but I live in Canada and they dont due international shipping. From all the reviews I have read they do good work, and the parts look good there are a few vids on youtube of their conversion.

As far as my shipping situation goes, my kit (from ifixdirect) made it across the boarder today so I should get it monday and will post a review with pics. I have my fingers crossed that all the parts are fine.

ok..finally got the white front replacement, surprisingly works..and can finally say im fully converted to the white ip4 :D

I really hate the USPS tracking system. It has been like this since 1 AM this morning... I don't really feel like this is tracking per say...
screenshot20101118at103.png

And my hatred turns to so much more than hate. It STILL is on this step. CHECK THE PACKAGE IN EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE FOR GOD'S SAKE

That's crap. What's up with that? Almost seems it hasn't been checked in with the PO?

I called USPS today, and the lady said that if the package is dropped in a blue box instead of dropped off at the counter of the post office, then the process is completely different, and it SHOULD be checked in at the destination office.

The same thing happened when I sent it up there. I live in east Texas, and it didn't get scanned until it was in Bethpage, NY. USPS is stupid.

So I just can't take the pain anymore. Anyone know a good source for someone who can do a full conversion (including dock connector/headphone)? Only place I see is iFix, and the dock/headphone parts seem to be much harder to track down. Back and front are easy. :/

$220? Hmm.

I'm torn, because I can probably get the parts cheaper, but I really don't want to bother taking the phone apart and breaking it, even though I probably could DIY if I had to.

Moreover, if there's going to be a white iPhone 5, seems like money wasted for a couple months.

Choices, oh how hard you are.

anyone know a place in southern california that offers the kit and does the black to white conversion for you?

Having done the conversion without the headphone and dock connections myself I can tell you that part is actually not to bad. The other two parts though, I wouldn't touch with a ten foot poll, I paid iFixDirect to do it. Those ribbon cables are so easy to tear I just didn't want to risk it myself.

As for waiting, whats the point. You have a Black on now. Unless you're going to sell it and pay full retail for a white one there's no sense in waiting.

As for 5th iPhone, history says June timeframe for that, you'll have 6 months of uber-coolness coming your way if you swap now

that notice means that they have a shipping label it does not mean usps has the package at all...i would call the place who did your swap and get some answers...

I've spoken to both iFix and USPS. Michael at iFix assured me it's been sent out and I have no reason not to believe him. The only thing USPS can say is that since the package was dropped off in a blue box instead of checked in at the desk of the USPS office, that there was no origin scan, and it may not be scanned again until it reaches the destination USPS office. Which, to be fair, is what happened when I sent mine. So I'm optimistic.

ya just read your post before that....sorry.......do you remember how long it took the box to get from you to them?

Well, I dropped it off on Thursday (veteran's day), s it didnt go out until Friday morning (The thing said pick up was at 4:30 am.) USPS attempted delivery on Monday and Tuesday, but they didn't get it until Wednesday. So, it took three or four days to get there. I'm really hoping I'll wake up Monday morning and it'll be out for delivery....

I've bought a white iphone 4 kit from them 3 weeks ago. At first Michael was so helpful and replied my email very fast. but now, i emailed him more than 5 times yet no reply from him. they gave me excuses couple of times saying that they are out of stock, their stock are faulty and etc. still wondering when will i receive my kit. really dissapointed with the service they provide.

gonna file a dispute with paypal if the kit doesnt arrive in a few days.

really pathetic service!

Have you tried calling? He always picks up the phone almot immediately when I call. I'm sorry you're having so many issues, but I would call and request a refund before you file a dispute with PayPal.

I think Ifixdirects problem is they blew up way to fast and can't handle all the buisness they are getting, it's a good problem to have; but a problem none the less. its a shame that its affecting their customer service because I was really impressed when I first started to deal with them and now it is hard to get in touch with them... but sending them 5 emails a day will only make the situation worse have you tried calling them?

I completely agree. They are the cheapest option and do good work. Two ingredients for success.

Just called them up and they said item has been shipped.

Well, I dont really trust them this time as they told me it was shipped the last time i called them. But in fact the item was not.

@jpetticrew:

I've been lurking this thread for a few days, and it appears we are both in the same boat. ifixdirect received my phone this past tuesday (16th), and promised I would have it back on the 17th. However, I didn't actually receive tracking info until around 1 AM on the 18th (same as you), and to date I have not received the phone.

My tracking info says the same thing (electronic shipping info received), with no real updates. The people at ifixdirect have assured me the phone was mailed out on Thursday, but communication and customer service has been extremely poor overall. Its hard to believe that if it was shipped thursday via overnight, even if it was placed in a blue mailbox, that it wouldn't be here by today....

hi guys:

long time lurker on the thread so far. want to congrats everyone on the converts. they look fantastic! for the people who used ifixdirect.com, any issues with discoloration, especially the home button? I saw a complaint about it but the pictures seem fine and perfect.

Also how is the oleophobic screen? is it the same as the old iphone? could anyone take pictures of their white iphone with bumpers? soooo excited to get my phone converted. I cracked my screen and figured the 200 dollars i would've spent at apple could be better used at converting it to white. :)
