I gotta wonder if this is yet another reason some are only offering in house conversions?
I'll admit, there is little chance anyone has OEM Apple parts for this swap. So if we all in fact buying copies, even if they are very good copies, there is probably less QC then would normally come from an OEM product.
If there is a high failure rate of the parts, keeping it in house would allow the seller (who-ever that may be) to discover this before the parts leave the shop.
Okay, tin-foil hat off. It was fun seeing how the iPhone works inside and knowing I can possibly make repairs myself in the future so I was a good experience.
Because some companies choose not to sel parts. Why you may wonder. Well its because at no point is the business protected. The person who bought the parts could be trying to install the parts while trying to learn by watching a video on youtube and in the off chance they do something to cause the part to not work most people in the world would and have past the buck back to the company saying " you sold me a bad part now replace it ". Now I think judging by your pictures, explanations and your email to me you where fully capable of doing this swap. Had it not been for a bad display you have succeeded in doing it which is a great task if you have never worked on a iphone before. But simply relying on his word that is was a jailbreak and not his part was his way of not wanting to show that he may have got a bad batch of parts and jut wanted a way to get out of it without putting the blame on his self. Selling parts is a risk because the buyer has all the protection and the seller has none, thats why some choose not to get involved and would rather do the work in house.
And there should be QC on his part. He should test his parts(yes all of them ) before sending them out to people. At 3 for 3 in selling bad parts does not look like he is doing that and thats just here on the this forum.
