+1 an iOS app maker may be likely. But appOmator already does this -
http://www.appomator.com/
and it's free to download, easy to use and looks to be having some early success.

iPaint gets my vote.

Thanks for the link- I had no idea something like that already existed! Think an Apple app creator that came free with every Mac and didn't charge a subscription would still be a winner though... That's my iLife wish anyway!:)

Come on Apple, lets finally see a split of the Store from iTunes.

iTunes now sells

Music
Video
Books
Apps
Games

It's Not i"Tunes" anymore.

They need an iStore in which all those things can be bought.
Get it out of iTunes and stop using iTunes as the connection
for their devices.

iTunes Extra/LP for AppleTV?

I hope that this new mystery app has something to do with creating "iTunes Extra" and/or "iTunes LP" ... would love to have that on my AppleTV for home-made vids

Bye Bye Tiger, you were a good friend

Since Safari 5 doesn't run on Tiger and iPhone 4 won't sync with it, I bet iLife 11 will be the third nail in Tiger's coffin.

As for the mystery app:

an image editor...since Preview and iPhoto has limited editing functionality, couldn't either of these be expanded a bit for editing. Still a stand alone app would be good. Although since I have CS5, I wouldn't likely use it.

iDevice app creator...would Apple even entertain such an idea?

iDVD could now be iBurn. :p

A resurected HyperCard :D please. Yeah when Hades freezes, and such an app might belong in the iWork suite anyway.

Maybe the mystery application could be a storyboarding pre-viz type of app? Apple did have a patent for Script-Integrated Storyboards: http://www.informationweek.com/news/hardware/mac/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=212903568&subSection=Macintosh+Platform

If they do get rid I hope they allow the previous version to be downloaded for free from apple.com. As they did with iMovie '06 when they changed that app to the new format.
"What is the bet it's Snow Leopard only?"
If it's 64-bit then definitely.

Why? Can't you run 64-bit stuff in Leopard? iStat Menus, for one, is 64-bit and running on my 10.5 machine.

Maybe iDVD is integrated into the apps (as part of iMovie)?

Maybe the mystery app is iMovie HD '06 (not that trash you call iMovie '08+) but probably not. Hmmmm....... Maybe some kind of animation software? Let's brainstorm: iAnimate, iGame, iConnect (social networking integrator), iBuild 3D.

the mystery app will be a Motion for consumers (its like After Effects). Most iDVD functionality will be put into it, and the rest spread into 'export' in iMovie and iPhoto.

The store doesn't deserve the "i" prefix. "i" means personal, and the store kinda controlls ME (with its changing licenses). Not to mention, it's not "my" store.

Apple's latest modification to the Mac Mini is a signal that Apple is getting the hint that many people love the Mini as part of a home theater system. The introduction of an HDMI port on the Mini as well as the ability to scale the screen size (to fix a very common resolution issue when using the Mini with an HDTV) are signs Apple is moving into home theater.

FrontRow needs a major fix. FrontRow is going to get an AppleTV menu structure makeover. I realize it hasn't been part of iLife but a new home theater hub would make sense as part of this package.

Maybe the new cloud based AppleTV released at the same time? Massive push to go mainstream with movie/tv sales. It's going to happen sometime this year.

Of course you can, but as this is Apple I suspect that a rewrite to 64-bit will also leverage some SL-only technologies in some way. More likely parts of the suite will run on Leopard, but for the full effect SL will be required.

Not to mention what would be the point of having 2 video chat programs anyhow ?

Why would they remove functionality ? Either it's completely dropped or iDVD is fully integrated into iMovie. Otherwise, what a rip off it would be.

Since iDVD isn't currently 64bit, they will probably just write some fresh code for iMovie '11 and make it more like the current Magic DVD option. Just a sidebar that pops out or a pop-up window with some basic options. Gone is the hierarchy map, submenu option and abundance of themes. Think of it like going from iPod Classic to iPod Shuffle. The Shuffle still provides the core functionality users expect, but leaves out features that the power user expects, like a screen and menus. The DVD export option will remain just to keep legacy users from complaining too much. Apple doesn't want to make iMovie bloated, so they will include the DVD option, just a stripped down version.

Maybe this means that the iMac upgrades will be very minimal in terms of hardware specs (maybe 10% speed difference at most, slightly better graphics, and that's about it).

My logic on that is that by combining software upgrades with some hardware upgrades the can create the "this is a great upgrade" mentality among consumers ("Look so much has changed, you got new iLife, more speed, etc.).

Kinda hope they would actually update iDVD so you could add themes...imo one of the biggest downfalls from iDVD is the lack of themes.

The mystery app is probably going to be something to read ebooks on, just like on the iPad and iPhone.

BluRay isn't coming if you'd ask me

I would LOVE to have a good "Paint" app, it's simple, it's basic but nog present on a mac :(

And please Apple get the PRICE DOWN, the apps are much cheaper for iOS than they are for OS X

I wonder if the mystery application is an app to make iTunes Extra bundles of Movie/Music content. This would give users the ability to include DVD extras with the film in a slick bundled placeholder. It would do the things iDVD does but make it available on Apple TV/iTunes rather than a DVD player.

That would be pretty nice! Its always irked me that you have to buy the whole studio bundle to get Motion. You can do so much in it on it's own, i don't want the rest of the suite at all. :(
