I wasn't aware that iChat could use Facetime with an iPhone 4.

I wasn't aware having 2 chat apps, one being paid for, was a good idea.

Seriously, a seperate app for Facetime makes about as much sense as Apple using MeeGo for the next iPhone.

If Facetime is coming to Mac, it's coming through iChat.

iLife is useless to me, as many others. It's too basic and minimal, and I'd happily delete it from my computer. It's incredibly featureless if you ask me, but it is pretty and incredibly easy to use.

I would love for a bundled Studio package from Apple, as I currently use Logic Studio, Final Cut Studio and Aperture. Is $1000 for everything asking too much?

My biggest wish is for Apple to release a pro version of iWeb, and their own version of Photoshop. It's needed.

Either that or iBooks.

Hadn't thought about that. It would certainly be the way for Apple to go if they are serious about competing with Amazon Kindle. They still need far more content though...

Too bad. You could have bought the $29 Snow Leopard disk and gone directly from Tiger to Snow Leopard. No need for the pack.

I realise that, but given I was stuck on iPhoto and iLife 06, I thought that I might as well go for the box set. Now I may have to buy iLife '11 too, typical :D

For an iDVD replacement, I would love to see an "iContent" app that is more inclined to interface with the iDevices as well as AppleTV. I think I've burned maybe two DVDs in two years, and they were do basic it could be functionality built into iMovie.

iWeb needs to have html5 capability, as well as the ability to interface with major blogging and content management sites, like Wordpress, Blogger, Typepad, and Joomla. That would be cool.

I am looking forward to it, because iPhoto is too simple for me, so they might have improved it a bit. And HTML5 iWeb is a good idea s well. Inbuilding iDVD into iMovie is a logical step and if this app will enable users to transfer files (whole folders) from different formats/containers to .mov i just could not be happier. (I use Handbrake, its ok, but...)

All i use is iPhoto. So the 64-bit will be very nice.. Now all we need is iTunes to go 64-bit (Mac).. Then 10.7, then i will be happy for about a year!

iDVD said to become downloadable

If iDVD won't be included in iLife, then I'm guessing the new mystery application will be an iDVD replacement. At least, I hope so, because I need it when I edit my movies in iMovie.

The source, Mac4ever, now says:
disparition de iDVD qui restera téléchargeable (comme iMovie HD)
which means "disappearance of iDVD, which will remain downloadable (like iMovie HD)".

iMovie HD became downloadable because they radically redesigned the application. I imagine iDVD would become a free download only if they incorporated its functionality into iMovie (as many have suggested here).

Two thoughts on what the new application will be:

- A very easy iPhone app maker

I'm giving this my vote. Will be called iApp.
Sure, it will churn out countless useless apps, but it will also allow a lot of creative people get into app building without all the coding. It's the main reason that Apple wants nothing to do with Flash. They allow in flash, and they kill their own app creation tool before it's out of the gate.

Oh, and coincidentally will be announced at the same time or just before the release of the new iPod Touch.

It's not needed because there already is Photoshop.

Gee, I guess Aperture is not needed since there already is Lightroom. Nor is Apple needed since Microsoft already exists! That's your logic; silly huh?

Why?
How will it be better than Adobe's Photoshop?

Aesthetically and functionally. Better usability, customizable editing tools, I dunno, stuff like that. Just look at Aperture; it makes a good replacement for Lightroom in many ways.

I just bought a mac mini yesterday, will i eligible for a free ilife upgrade if the new version comes out on aug. 7th?

I wasn't aware that iChat could use Facetime with an iPhone 4.

So what we're asking for is the ability of iChat to interface with Facetime. That's hardly an iApp, since Facetime is included with iPhone 4 and iChat is included with OS X. This is at best a .update to 10.6

The rumored 'photo leaked' trackpad/tablet must have some purpose other than to have a wireless pinch/zoom device for desktops.

I'm guessing they release iTV with updates to download/purchase iApps and run them on your TV. The controller will be the trackpad we've seen leaked.

The mystery application could NOT be an iApp development environment. Apple already has one and its free if you sign up for their development program (the basic program). They don't need/want a ton of me too apps, or simply slideshow apps cluttering their app store.

It would be cool to see Apple come out with a Photoshop Elements style app that is powerful enough for editing. It would likely lack the CMYK and advanced support needed for high-end printing or some compositing applications (smoke?) which most consumers wouldn't want or need. Maybe a re-released Smoke with their new photo editing app called "Mirrors"? They could bundle it as the "Smoke & Mirrors" pack.

For iLife '09 they had a program where you could upgrade for $9.99 if you bought your Mac after a certain date.

Do you remember what the timeframe was?

I ordered a new MBP last Monday and it just came in today. If iLife '11 comes out in 2 weeks you think I'd be eligible?
