I've been running Atomic Tabbed for a couple of weeks and aside from a couple of crashes I've not had a single tab reload or refresh.
There was a video going round that it did?

I have the beta2 on my ipad mini retina, and it still crashes.

Do u think apple will fix this problem?
But I don't see any other way to fix that, except, increasing the ram.
It's not a physical RAM issue, it's a software issue handling RAM or deliberately kicking pages out of RAM.
My 256 MB of RAM iPad 1 has no issues with multiple tabs and no reloads unless I close the app forcefully (iOS 5). If the 512 MB devices can run iOS 7, then there's plenty of space for some web pages.
It's just flawed programming, which will hopefully be addressed. Maybe Mr. Ive's thinks that reloading pages is the distillation of essential and unapologetic purity. Who knows.![]()
Does iOS 7.1 B2 fix the refreshing issue ?
As others have pointed out, if other 3rd party browsers can do it, so can apples, maybe they need to leave a 'scratch disk' or something where the websites are stored in the flash or something, kinda like the offline reading list, but whatever they do they need to sort it!
You're forgetting the difference in resolution. Four times the resolution uses up more memory in Safari.
There's more to it than that. Safari uses the webkit API. Does Opera or other browsers use it? I think Chrome does.
Roll your eyes all you like. The browser is built upon a well established framework. You act, with your rolling eyes, like this would be simple to fix. Sorry, but you can't just redo safari so simy. The entire foundation that safari is built upon has to be redone to NOT bust through this RAM issue. Apple knowing this could have delayed the release until the software was ready, put more RAM in, or said screw the peasants - let them eat cake, we need our margins. If an iPad or iPhone can run things like Infinity Blade, even some CAD software, music and image/video editing... Do you really believe some text web tabs should be too much?![]()

Which do you think they chose?
Apple is VERY similar to the NFL(american football). No matter how many stupid rules they put in, no matter how they screw up the game with zillions of commercials, charge a ton for parking/consessions, etc... It's the only game in town for those who like professional football. The same with apple - they can release a buggy product, and thy can still sell a ton. And folks like you and others who bend over backwards excusing the practice, cannot tell others that emperor has a wonder new set of clothes. We can tell the emperor has no clothes.
Not even remotely the issue. A full native resolution, high quality image is between 1 and 5 MB on the iPad Air (much less on an iPhone 5). Text is not an issue as the browser simply displays it. Also consider that the screen resolution hasn't changed at all, so it's pushing just as many pixels as it was on iOS 6.
We're talking about 1 GB of RAM (albeit, 64 bit which makes matters worse) running a mobile OS. One should be able to have a dozen Macrumors tabs open at once without having to reload them.

I can appreciate your dislike for my Apple:NFL comparison. But to that i will counter with Apple's continued high prices, and the numerous software instability that we are seeing with iOS 7 - BUT there is still very solid sales of iPads and iPhones.I do agree with your points on the NFL and I hate it now.....but it's not a realistic comparison with apple. There are other choices for tablets and many of them are starting to become valid choices. The nexus, the galaxy tabs, and a few others are pretty solid products. Sure they lack the App Store and number of apps but they are slowly catching up.
I don't believe apple can screw up too much without it costing them customers and ultimately money. IMO, their devices will have to come down in price as the competition heats up. So, they'll have to cheapen the a bit or work with smaller profit margins which is a swear word phrase in Cupertino.
The NFL though? They've made the game almost unwatchable as it is and have no intentions of stopping! Totally different than apple.
There were some memory tests done on Safari recently by another member and he outlined how just simply scrolling back and forth on 7.1b2 used much more memory than you would expect on a complex website causing a crash. This is definitely a problem with how Safari is coded.

So there IS some other component at play here.

This matches EXACTLY what i tell people to do who claim their Airs/rMini's do not crash. Goto a complex website with embedded video, the second the base page comes up, and before the embedded video image appears, scroll down the page - BOOM!!!
Link me one page like that and I will check.
I'm browsing several pages with embedded videos and I'm not experiencing all the crashes your are speaking of ....
Actually I had a couple of crashes since iPad air purchase and ZERO with my iPhone 5S.
What in an say is that Mercury Browser is much better, and it can load several, tabs without reloading, while Safari cannot.
Safari surely has memory leaks.
But I cannot see all these crashes you are speaking about, and I'm using my iDevices very very much.
If you have the ability to check between 7.0.4 and the latest beta, it would be an interesting test. After the page loads, try scrolling top to bottom.
Try nin.com.
This crashes on my rMini after two tabs on 7.0.4. Don't have access to the beta.
I don't have access to the beta either ...
Btw that site crashes Safari and mercury browser also on my iPad air ...
First time I see something like that.
