I personally fond of the white sheep.. :p

My neighbor has one for years now and it is going strong!

It's use is for DJ purposes and he is a Pro DJ for living!

And accept it..it isn't that slow..mainly because it is combined with OSX

Actually, the white MB is pretty damn slow. And at this point it's body design is well outdated, so if Apple doesn't plan to significantly update it then it's time to ditch it.

Folks -

GPU's may be "discrete," and if they are shy and proper they perhaps may be "discreet." If they "discreate" that means they are probably made by nVidia and they've blown up.

A little mnemonic device - "discrete" separates the e's into two parts, much like "discrete graphics" separates the graphics onto a second chip. "Discreet" keeps the e's under wraps between the c and the t, which should remind one that this particular word relates to keeping things close to the vest. "Discreate" means, essentially, to "un-create" or destroy something; think dis-create.

Also do you think the 13 inched will be taken out of the Pro line or even out of the whole MacBook line up?

IMO no because it is the MacBook Pro that sells even more that the white MacBook..

I have nothing to back it up but I believe the white polycarb macbook is Apple's #1 selling mac so it will stay.

Again, if Apple's choice in product offerings reflected actual user demand then the 17" MBP should be the first to go in a crowded lineup. 13" seems to be the user "sweet spot".

I see the 17" MBP as more of a utility product - catering to a small niche of special class users.

That was one really well thought explanation!

What are you a teacher?!

Well actually the last few months there have been A TON of threads asking: MBP 13 Vs White MacBook..what should I take?

The answers given in most(and the laptop the thread writters actually bought)..was that the MBP 13 of course worth 150$ more for all the extra stuff that it offers..

So I think it is pretty possible that the past few months MBP 13 has overtaken the white MB on the sales..

Well by saying that the White MB is slow..you accept that the MBP 13 is slow too..

Which it isn't as far as all the reviews say..

All present Apple notebooks are slow. They aren't quad core! If that doesn't change soon, I'll cry. I really will!

And the 330M is still pathetic, and rapidly getting more pathetic with the introduction of new GPU generations.

So educational

Hey I love reading all of your posts guys and gals out there! I am itching to buy a new 13".... should I wait til Jan? It's all speculation isn't it....whether these updates are really worth the wait?

I'm sorry, did I just miss some big MBP event in the last 7 months? No? Didn't think so. Still using dual core processors, still using slow graphics, still no blade SSDs.

EDIT: You didn't mistake the MBA update for MBPs?

No I think he/she is referring to the BTO options that were added back in October....

Wait!

The update is a few months away. And it doesn't worth buying a C2D nowadays. It is old.

I want to buy the 13" MBP too and I am waiting!

I was in the same boat as you, wondering if I should wait or not for the 13", but as soon as I got the money I needed I went and got it anyway. I haven't regretted it one bit as it's fast enough for my daily tasks and the occasional gaming, but I still kinda wish I'd waited. If I was you, I'd just wait. If it's definitely coming in January or February then there's no reason you shouldn't. It'll be a newer machine and might last you longer than the current gen. The C2D is a bit outdated now.

It'd be really helpful if we knew for certain when it's coming out. :p

Unless you have a compelling need for it now, you would be verging on the ludicrous not to wait. All available data points towards a significant upgrade in the product line. And even if you think you can do without the improved specs, the newer model will mean a cheaper price point for the product you've got your eyes on now.

I am in the same boat, my 2007 MacBook was stolen last week and I think I am going to wait for the new 13' pro's. I don't care if it's going to have intel graphics as long as the run better then the previous nVidia. I don't think apple would make the mistake of choosing intel graphics again if they did not have a big benefit. I think they should be released in janurary or feburary latest because it been more then the average 8 months for an update.

I feel a bit lucky because no matter what I will be buying the new MBP 13" in June/July 2011 because I am really struggling with my exams at school in order to pass in the Unicersity..

A new Mac would just make me lose my focus from the studying..

So no matter what..I'll be waiting!

Haha, yeah, I did the same thing. Problem is my exams just finished, and I want a better MBP!

Hey, It's Tuesday! New MBPs tomorrow???

Do you think that a refreshed Macbook Pro will come before May of 2011 ?? Im waiting for buying a new 13.3" Pro and I can wait until that (I will go live to Germany !!).

I think they will clear the inventory and look to release sometime between February & April. Obviously the Pro's will be refreshed first with the MacBook to follow. I can't see the Air's getting a refresh until 2H 2011.

Hey, It's Tuesday! New MBPs tomorrow???

If I were as lucky as you are I'd try to have as much fun as possible till the new ones are here so it keeps my mind away from the MBP!

Sadly all I am doing this year is Latin,Ancient Greek,History and a whole bunch of other lessons..which I like but as a wise man said:

"Even God is bored of listening to prays all the time."

Catch Steve's words:

While introducing the new MBA:

"..and we think it is the next generation of MacBooks."

1.SuperDrive is out
2.iSight renamed to FaceTime
3.More battery life
4.Sandy Bridge!

Apple Store Down

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but is the store down for anyone else? I can't even see a holding page, it just doesn't respond

Yeah this is what I meant..

I am really hoping for a Macbook White/Pro 13" upgrade really soon because I can't wait past like March. I'm a little afraid that the BTO options postpone the updates for too long...

It'd be really helpful if we knew for certain when it's coming out. :p

No kidding...I love Apple products, but I dislike the company's marketing strategy. Too "closed lipped"

Interesting thought,, but I think Apple will keep them separate: one is an app and one is hardware.

But I'll agree, the line is indeed being blurred.

I disagree with the name "Facetime camera" because (call me stupid if you want) that name made me think the camera was only usable in Facetime...not in Photo Booth, etc... iSight is a name that is less specific-sounding and gives people the impression that it has a wider compatibility...

Except the Air has never had a superdrive.
So that can't be counted in the future but a design trade off that is defined by the difference between the Air and the rest of MacBook range.
