Classic is automatically installed along with Panther. At least it did in my case. When you open a program that requires Classic, it will automatically startup. You can also have access to Classic by going to preferences and select it to show up in the top menu bar.

well, my imac 20" did also come WHITOUT classic on it... now i cant play install good old game and i dont have a idea of i can install OS 9 because it's would actually need classic to install... quite a problem there... anyway if anyone got an idea tell me...

Shipment Notification Question

Alright, for all you lucky buggers who already have your new iMacs, I have a question. Did I read on here somewhere that the Apple order status page might get updated before you recieve an email about it? I want to know if I need to just wait for an email update instead of compulsively checking the order status page twice (or more) a day. Thoughts?

Yep my order status was updated about a day before I got the email - so keep checking...

Quick question?

For all you tracking experts out there....
How long after the truck 'has reached final destination' does the tracking number start being recoginised by TNT?

My iMac is being merged with some other items so I guess I should allow another day (at least??!!)

Almost here... :)

Apple (iM)A(c)nonymous

My name is mpw. It’s been 34days since I last used an Apple Mac.

I’m going crazy waiting for my Mac and it’s so frustrating knowing that I’d get it about as quick had I order today than when I ordered it over a month ago. I’ve bought cars that took less time to arrive!

The US store has been showing a 1-3day despatch for a couple of weeks now.

Other than their iMac what else have people waited so long for from order to delivery?

The End Is Near

It's only 40 miles away now, I think the're waiting for the rest of my order to arrive (fingers crossed)

Lastest UK delivery news

TNT can't cope will the volume of consignments so there is a back log over in Luxemburg. If your order has been stuck 'at final destination' for a few days. (Mine has since Wednesday) give Apple a call and they'll arrange for yours to be released.

I'm looking at next Wednesday 'at the lastest'

ermm.. arent you ordering an ipod? theres a big size difference between ipod and imac ;) that may explain why yours left at the same time :p

Yeh, but Hannah said TNT couldnt handle the backlog of consignments... which, as mine was shipped with all the iMacs doesnt make much sense ;)

Hopefully someone can use that info - i know i spent days looking through what other people have said to estimate my delivery (which worked out to be right :p)

Mixed Memory

The store I'm ordering my ig5 from has suggested leaving the original 256 of memory in one bay (as a gift, they put it) while putting the 1 meg of memory I have ordered into the other slot. Sounds a bit iffy to me, any thoughts anyone?

Congrats Hydroman :) Hope you enjoy
2 Weeks and counting for moi, the time seems to be going so slowly.
What is the worst is that i have to use our family Dell pc with windoze for the next two weeks...it really is torture. I sold my old ibook and am thinking of getting a new one as well but that won't be for a month or so or even at the Apple store opening if i get the 10% discount in my lucky bag...which i will get! :p.
Anyways counting the days and suffering with XP.

2 months to the day.... its here...

Well.. my wait is over too...

I ordered on 14 September, and it arrived today (14 Nov) in New Zealand.

Was a bit of a wait, but at least I have bluetooth built in, etc.

Its a very nice machine, even if my old Pismo feels a bit left out now...

Oh well, it will still get to go travelling with me...

Cheers

Jeremy

Yeah good luck to you Fredstar, after all my gripes I really do love this machine, it's bad for my health though, I can't get off the bloody thing! and all the peripherals I'm thinking of getting, it's gonna cost me a fortune

It really is worth the wait

Congratulations.

If you need help configuring, PM me. But these things have no problem configuring *usually* !

Just as the saying don't quit your job until you get a new one applies here. I personally would have held on to my iBook until my new Mac arrived. Hope that you will be able to get that 10% discount at the Apple Store opening.
