:) It arrived - it is lovely, massive and quiet.

Very very happy, only took 2 months...

Good luck to the rest of you.

BTW - Apple say that they will have iMacs in stock ready to take away from the new apple store opening in London this weekend if people are fed up with waiting....

Yay! Hope you enjoy your new iMac. I'm really sorry, but I would *have* to laugh if you got one of a noisy ones! hehe..lucky you didnt.

I'm guessing the ones at the store will just be standard models? I can get hold of those at micro anvika right ow, but I need the Bluetooth Ms/Kb.

I ordered the same config on Oct25 and my OOB date was Nov24. I got shipment notification yesterday too. I bet our 20-inchers are sitting next to each other on the plane ride over.

I would say that is good timing. Now you will have fours days of enjoyment with your new iMac's. Good luck to DCCardinal and MarkOUT. You will both have something big to give for which to give thanks. It will be a time to wow your family and friends.

Little bit concerned...
It says my imac has shipped and that it was dispatched on wednesday, it is being handled by TNT nederlands and i have a tracking number. But when i try the tnt tracking i get no recognition and when i click the tracking number on the Mac website it doesn't have any details.
Is this normal? is it common to wait a few days before tracking exists?
thnks

Apple gave me a really odd number when i got my shipping email, so I had to phone up and get a new one..maybe the same here..?

I don't think so mate, mine has been booked for tomorrow (19th).
I am so excited atm, not sure how i will sleep tonight!

oh well, close enough ;)

Now, If I was waiting for a Dual 2.5 G5 with a 30" display then I wouldnt be able to sleep. But looks like its just an imac for me.... :(

The imac will have to do for now!
I was actually going to get a dualie 1.8 with the 20" display, but that would have cleaned me out and i don't need that power for a year or so. Much better to get the imac with a load of nice accesories such as the wireless mouse/keyboard e.t.c
When i can afford to get the Powermac's hopefully they would have introduced pci-express and the dual 3ghz
p.s. it is not only the though of the imac, it is also the thought of going to the Regent Street store tomorrow, it will be fan-bloody-tastic

You my as well get some sleep pal. Mine was booked on a flight on the 12th and it is still not even with TNT in Europe. Apple say they hope I'll have it maybe late next week having shipped on the 6th.

For those waiting for their iMac - I ordered mine on Day One (Aug 31st) at 6 AM and went through the same agony. I gotta tell you it is worth the wait! Love my 20", especially since I bumped up the memory.

If you'll look through the original pages you will find the guy who started it made a guess after a few pages that the thread might actually reach 10 pages. Just a bit off!

Hang in there - you're going to love the iMac.

i am not getting my hopes up just yet.
Because i queued up from 4pm friday afternoon for the Apple store opening i could have bought the 20" imac there and since i got loads of stuff that i ordered with the imac in my lucky bag - wireless keyboard/mouse/.mac i could have got everything for less...:( damn

I decided I couldn't wait any longer. I went to Frys last night and bought a brand new iMac 20". It took me a little while to set up, the salesman didn't know that it did not come with a firewire cable to transfer information, so I had to go back for that.

I inquired about a larger Hard Drive, that would have cost $250. So I went with a 250GB external drive. Two 1 Gig sticks of Ram ran me close to $390 but they are installed and working just fine.

The Airport card was easy to put in. I was surprised at how easy it was to take the computer apart and put it back together again. I feel pretty confident about being able to upgrade parts in the future.

The only trouble I had was with transfering information and getting online. On my old iMac I had used FileVault for a while but stopped, however, this made transferring information difficult and I had to do it in reverse order which was not nearly as easy. The people at Apple had no idea what to do about that.

As far as the internet thing goes, after talking to the support people all I had to do with 'power cycle' the modem and after that it worked fine.

I actually prefer Frys warranty over Apples. They don't ask too many questions and will repair any hardware problems. I bought a 5 year warranty, so if anything goes wrong and they cannot repair it, I will get a brand new iMac (whichever model that may be at the time) that is the equivalent of this one. The warranty was $300 for 5 years, pretty good deal should anything go wrong.

I could not be more happy with the machine though, quiet and very fast. I did come from a G3 though, but still, very fast computer.
:

confused:
what do you mean by G3, is this a joke?

It's here!

Delivered to my home via FedEx first thing this morning. I indeed have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Sadly, I have to work today and haven't been able to open the box yet. I've got a pair of matched 1g RAM sticks that have been sitting idly by, waiting for their proper host to arrive.

Northampton's Lovely at this time of year

At least I assume it is as that's where my iMac has been the last 3days. TNT gave me the encouraging news that that they don't know why it's stopped there but to call back in 3days if it's not moved!

I see this thread has all but come to a halt. I guess the MR members who ordered iMacs in the early period after launch have all had theirs now.
