It is now exactly 2 months and 1 week since I placed the order. Apple say this morning that they now 'don't know' what is going on...

According to Apple it should have shipped but they keep saying, "It should be later today or tomorrow" over and over again. The Apple rep even suggested that it could be loaded and they just haven't transmitted the updates to the order mgmt system.
What has been everyone's experience with the timing of when it actually ships to when the web is updated or an email notification is sent.
Thoughts?

goto http://www.apecode.com/appletrack/ and enter the number click track. there you can track it at the first stage.

asif786 said:hey,
i understand your frustrations - but i cant see that apple would do this on purpose.. i think it could be the sheer *volume* of orders that's taking apple so long. i dont know how many pre-orders there were, but there's been a lot of talk about the imac g5 being in high demand.
in terms of cost, apple is actually air-freighting (sp?) these iMacs, at a cost of $50 per unit to them. i guess im correct in assuming that normally these would come by ship? i'm not too sure, but we know that it's costing them extra cash to get them out of shanghai - so the demand must be HUGE....
I'm not too angry - my estimated ship date was 23/11, and it shipped today - now its just a case of seeing how long it takes...
mpw said:When I've bought PC's and laptops in the past they've always been shipped from the factory in China etc. I'm sure that volume has played a part in the delays but I'm also sure that had TNT been offered $100 per unit for express delivery they would have obliged ,most purchasers would have coughed up I think.
asif786 said:but the thing is, TNT only take over from teh Netherlands - and getting the unit from NL to the UK generally doesn't seem to be the slow point - it's getting the units from Shanghai to NL that takes time, and it's Kuehne + Nagel that takes care of that.
This leads me to believe that its K + N that is the root of the delays - perhaps because they cant get these units loaded onto the planes fast enough, or maybe because air-freighting isn't their strong point, i dunno.

order date:6/11/04 (or 11/6 for you Americans)
Est. delivery date:29/11/04 (11/29)
So Apple will hopefully beat their estimated date, they say it will take 6-7 business days from today so i reckon we are looking at next thursday!
Can't wait!
Well done Apple
