Mine shipped last Thurs. and when I talked with FedEx this morning, they told me it had reached the US and was at customs.

I hope that's true. The lady I spoke to at Fedex International dept. seemed pretty sure in telling me that it hadn't left Subic yet. Maybe some did and some didn't.
I called Apple a few minutes ago to see what's up. They said the problem was due to this Chinese holiday and the warehouse couldn't handle the heavy amount of shipments. I asked what the Chinese holiday had to do with shipments that had already left China and were sitting in Subic Bay. The guy paused and basically said 'that's what I'm told to say'. He went on to suggest that if it doesn't arrive by the Fedex date in October to call back. Thank you for choosing Apple. :(

My standard shipment order has now left Subic Bay- hopefully heading to Alaska. Left 5AM this morning Subic time so the plane should be in Anchorage by now, if it didn't go to Japan.

The word I got from the guy at FedEx was that this was part of a 40 package shipment so it is moving in bulk. Customs will advise FedEx while the plane is in the air on which shipments they want to check. If our shipment is not one of them then it should be broken up in Anchorage and sent out today. If it is on the list for customs then it is held until released. My guess is that Customs has a program that randomly selects shipments to check - otherwise shipments from reputable companies like Apple would pretty well be cleared automatically.

I also get the feeling that it will be tonight before FedEx updates their web site again, but I'll keep checking!

Do we have any idea how many machines are/were sitting in Subic Bay? More than 40?

mine left subic bay at 4:57 am on sept. 27th and then arrived in narita-shi japan at 8:57 pm. i hope for your sake that it is indeed on it's way to alaska but if it was on the same place as mine...it is currently still sitting in japan :(

My shipment was one of 40 - which probably means a pallet of 40 iMacs. No telling how many pallets Apple shipped, but it was more than one.

bluelemons, my tracking does not show Japan so I might be in luck. It also doesn't show Memphis ( :( ) so I'm not THAT lucky.

It probably won't show Memphis until it reaches Alaska then you will see the Alaska Memphis scan.

No I did not pay extra for 2day shipping. I just got the standard shipping.

My tracking has said the same exact thing since last Thursday which is it left Subic bay. That's why I called FedEx today because I wanted to know what was happening. I talked to an International CSR and that is who told me it reached customs. My estimated arrival date according to FedEx is Oct. 11. I hope it shows before that date, because the week of the 11th I'm moving and won't be at this address anymore. I had no idea things would be so wonky and that no one can get a straight answer from anyone. :(

FedEx did not add "clear out our warehouse by September 24th, so we can count all those as shipped and invoiced in the fiscal quarter ending September 24th."

I don't blame Apple at all for doing this; it's actually makes sound business sense. It just means that FedEx delivery times for these machines is going to be longer than normal, because FedEx picked them up earlier than they would have on a normal schedule.

I don’t know what standard Apple uses for booking revenue, but I would guess that it is once the product ships, not when the customer receives it. Also, on the same note they wouldn’t want to rush too much through to book as much revenue as possible if they are meeting their projected numbers. To beat the street numbers by too much can also be a bad thing. So I guess what I am saying is the booking revenue may not be a great way to predict when our iMacs will get over to us.

Aloha Means Goodbye

Ordered (3) 17" w/BT on 8/31, they shipped 9/23, all arrived at destination in LA today 9/27 in the AM. Definitely worth the wait. Thanks everybody, enjoy!

Still waiting for shipping on my open order for a IMG5 20/1.8/512MB/160GB/SD/BT/AP/B placed on the 31st too. Says on or before 28/09/2004, guess I'll know tomorrow if I get a delay email.

Has anyone had a delay email on an iMac G5 yet?

Me too. Still waiting for almost the same computer as you. Ordered on the 31st and predicted on or before 10/5.

Its a little chirlish to complain as they havent missed their estimate yet, but galling none the less when one reads of others who ordered later and get to play earlier.

Ho hummm....

So you have your new iMacs currently at home with you then? Hopefully mine will be arriving tomorrow then as mine also shipped on the 23rd. *fingers crossed* This is so frustrating because I have no idea what's going on with FedEx.

My tracking number page says "Left FedEx Sort Facility SUBIC BAY FREEPORT PH" and my WayBill tracking number page says, "In transit SUBIC BAY FREEPORT PH". It has said the exact same thing since last Thursday. But the FedEx lady told me today, it reached customs. So I have no idea what is really going on.

I say no way they miss the outside ship dates on early orders. They are cuttin it a little close though.

I ordered September 1st (ship on or before Sept. 30th). Seeing as so many people who ordered after that date already have their G5s in hand, I'm gonna be hugely annoyed with Apple if I get a delay email on October 1st.

same problem

I have been refreshing all morning in the hopes that this thing may have moved *somewhere* but I'm still in FedEx location in Shanghai. I shipped after the cut-off on 9/24. Is my iMac in this same container I keep hearing about?

http://www.fedex.com/cgi-bin/tracki...y_code=us&initial=x&tracknumbers=671002535700

mine is coming to rancho murieta, and i think we're in the same pallet...my tracking shows it "left fedex ramp", whatever that means...

like andiepandie's order, mine supposedly shipped on the 23rd. it's been listed as being in or just leaving Subic Bay for a couple of days now.

Sep 26, 2004 2:29 am Left FedEx Sort Facility*
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT PH*

i'd be very surprised if it showed up today or tomorrow, but i wouldn't complain.

Well AndiePandie, looks like we are travelling together, I get the same exact info for waybill and package as you.

Time is not on my side this week as I leave town on Wednesday. Does anyone know if FedEx is open on Saturdays for picking up packages that delivery was already attempted?

IMG5 20/1.8/512MB/160GB/SD/BT/WL KBD/MSL

It shipped out of Shanghai Friday night.
The FedEx site has shown it being in Memphis since yesterday, but they haven't updated since 7:00am this am.
In their info about shipping they say orders shipped on Friday may not have their status updated until Monday evening so I'm hoping it at least made it to Montreal today and then to me tomorrow!

I really don't understand why FedEx can't get their stuff in order. Is it really hard to maintain a web tracking service and if so then why bother to even have one? And how is it that their CSR don't know anything? Isn't that part of their job? Ooooo my crabby side is starting to show a bit.

Just got off the phone with Fedex myself. I got the same story as others who were stuck in Subic Bay since last Thursday. Apple requested 'space available' shipment and the entire load is currently sitting in Subic where it will stay until Fedex gets around to them. All their other business takes priority.

I'm not happy with Apple, being that I ordered, sight unseen, first thing on the 31st. People who ordered MUCH later and even just went to CompUSA have their system before I do.

I'm confident that you will forget all about the wait once your new iMac arrives. Sounds like the holdup now if the fault of Fed-Ex.

*hifive* Misery loves company. :D It's nice to know I'm not alone in my frustration.
