Same here. Usually FedEx delivers these things in the morning, I wonder if ours can make a later flight and get here in the afternoon. I'm guessing, however, that it will get here tomorrow.

I'm starting to lose patience - I ordered TWO 17" 1.6 160 HD 512 RAM BT G5 iMacs the MINUTE the store came back online at 6:30 am EST on 8/31....it's driving me crazy to hear about all these shipping units while I STILL have "on or before 9/29" as my ship date. arrrrgh.

And that flight tracking page says FedEx has a 3:47 am flight from Indy to Orlando, I guess it didn't make it. It sure would be nice to see it today, but if I have to wait, well, I'm getting pretty good at that.

So.... who will be the first person to receive their iMac today?

Mine says much the same thing unfortunately.....

My 20 incher is on a truck for delivery!!!!!!! To those still waiting, don't get jealous, the longer you wait, the sweeter the news is when it's heading your way! I'll have a report if there are any problems.

yeah! My imac is on the truck for delivery! (20" BTO ordered 9/3) It was shipped on the 23rd and I live in NJ. It's a good thing I already called out sick today so that I can head to my parents house and pick it up!

Keep checking the FedEx site as they are way behind in terms of where your iMac is. They just updated my status 5 minutes go - it's here! had better be on the truck that makes the morning delivery because I don't want to work a full day today.

By the way, I have been waiting to get the G5 iMac since January when I almost bought the 20" G4. I was actually at the store when I decided to wait. 9 months of waiting - it was worse than when my wife was pregnant! Ooops, just remembered that I had better tell her that I bought an iMac . . .

Man, I got unlucky. The FedEx CSR confirmed that mine was on its way to Anchorage yesterday, but got pulled off in Japan because there was not space available on that leg. Meanwhile, a lot of yours on this board whose iMacs are out for delivery DID stay on that plane through Japan and onto Anchorage.

Now it's stuck in Japan, and they have no clue when space will become available. I'm totally bummed.

mine must be right there with yours because (as we both know) we are experiencing the same problems with being stuck in japan. i spoke to a fed rep this morning and was assured that it would be moving again by this evening and they are doing everything they can to get things back on track for delivery later this week.

i took that with a grain of salt but we'll see...

What the heck does this mean? Is the plane just flying around for the past 12 hours? Anyone else in this situation?

The tracking system for FedEx leaves a lot to be desired, but I have to admit that they have performed once it hit the States. Mine was in Alaska at midnight and is on the truck this morning.

The real battle is overseas backlogs. Apple has been moving everything in the iMac line via FedEx that goes to the US, which is a large percentage of the factory output. They would be having multiple semis backing up to the factory dock taking in a very large number of pallets and now they have to get them in our hands. The problem is compounded by limits to scheduled flights to China, which means that they are filling all flights to the US and Subic and Japan and resorting as they can. Probably doing a good job, but it's painful to wait.

Mine is delivered to the office so it looks like I'll have to go in for an hour or so . . .

Yours is in Osaka; ours in Tokyo. As I remember the schedule, you are looking to get on a plane from Osaka directly to Memphis. We have to pray that one of the 2 daily flights to Anchorage has "space available", and then it has to take another plane to get to a US hub.

Correct me if wrong, but I don't think there has been one new shipping notice since the end of last week. What gives ?

I know there are holidays coming up and there's also that mid-autumn festival this week, but it seems like there should have at least been some production on Monday.

I'm beginning to think that Apple has given everyone the week off.

Or maybe they used up their supply of parts and are waiting until there are enough on hand to restart the production line.

I'm afraid the next word from Apple will be that they won't meet the original shipping date.

Very Frustrated

I ordered my 20" with 1GB of RAM, BT WKB WM on the 1st. I received an email on the 27th saying that it finally shipped. But it hasn't moved since then and it says it will be delivered on the 13th of October. That can't be true can it? I too am looking forward to taking a day off to set up my machine. My daughter is looking forward to it as well. She gets my old iMac.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with FedEx's status system?

I can't wait to join the club of happy iMac G5 owners.

I think if you go through this thread, no one got shipping notices last week until the later part of the week.

I would find it very hard to believe Apple will miss expected shipping dates, esp. with so many of us who shipped early. The only way is if there was a shortage on some common part, but no one has been able to find a common cause.
