Fedex just delivered at 10:28 AM. The journey has finally ended.

Congratulations! Now, will you provide us with pictures? My digital camera is ready to document my first "out-of-box experience" since my original PowerBook G4/500 in March of 2001. I will have them ready to go and up on the web as soon as I plug it in!

Whooo! It's here and boy it's sweet! I do hear the fan a bit but I don't find it to be a problem. For the record if you ordered BT w/ keyboard and mouse you DO NOT get an extra wired set. Also the wireless keyboard does not have a USB port. I'll post pics soon! I'm off to play now. :D

I ordered my 20" with 1GB of RAM, BT WKB WM on the 1st. I received an email on the 27th saying that it finally shipped.

Yours is the first shipping notice I've heard about this week.

Anyone else? Lets hear it.

Yours is in Osaka; ours in Tokyo. As I remember the schedule, you are looking to get on a plane from Osaka directly to Memphis. We have to pray that one of the 2 daily flights to Anchorage has "space available", and then it has to take another plane to get to a US hub.

domo arigato! ;) How do you know the difference between Osaka and Tokyo? I'm not familiar with the airport names nor where to find them.

If mine is getting on the Osaka-Memphis flight (FDX18), then it should be leaving Osaka in about two hours according to flytecomm.com. Then, it will arrive about 11:42 PM, which will hopefully be enough time for them to fly it to Houston and get it to me tomorrow. :) :fingers crossed:

Did anyone else get their iMac thru Osaka-Memphis, or have they all gone through Anchorage so far?

This whole thing has me going between "anchored down in Anchorage" and "long distance information, get me Memphis Tennessee"

2 flights listed out of tokyo to anchorage today (as of now anyway)...

9922 - 9:55 PM - ARRIVED
80 - 1:53 PM - PLANNED

no update on my fedex status page so i assume that the we weren't on the first one (9922) but i have keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for that second one

Finally, movement

This happened about 2 hours ago in Shanghai:

Sep 28, 2004
9:08 pm
Left FedEx Ramp*
SHANGHAI CN

A similar scan happened for the waybill container about an hour after that. I think this means I'm headed straight for Anchorage soon? After that, a hop from Anchorage to Indianapolis for a customs check-in tonight and I assume they can get this thing to me tomorrow morning.

Here's to hoping anyway... If they don't get it to me tomorrow I won't see it until next Monday. I leave for Las Vegas until Monday at noon on Thursday.

Pictures soon

I took some pictures and will post soon (assuming I can figure it out!). So far, it looks beautiful in my home studio. I hope everyone receives their's soon.

But it hasn't moved since then and it says it will be delivered on the 13th of October. That can't be true can it? I too am looking forward to taking a day off to set up my machine. My daughter is looking forward to it as well. She gets my old iMac.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with FedEx's status system?

I can't wait to join the club of happy iMac G5 owners.

I also have an expected delivery date of Oct 13 and according to Fedex, they've had several mechanical difficulties with planes in the last 2 days. Mine is still in the Phillipines, I assume that's where yours is too if it hasn't moved (Freeport PH)?
Check the status, if it says Freeport, as of this morning, it's going nowhere!

Just got my 20" imac with 256mb, blue tooth, airport card. Well actual I'm not home yet but just checked fedex and its waiting for me. I'm sure a lot of people are going there imac today too. The wait is over!

I purchased some 0CZ 2x 1gb dimms and there ready to go in, I will post how they work later in the day.

Mine sat there for two straight days as well. This morning it mysteriously appeared in Indianapolis. Nothing in between. Strange. I bet you'll see something similar tomorrow.

I'm about to open the box now, ran home for "lunch..!" and met the FedEx guy in my driveway!
I think I'll be preoccupied for the forseeable future!

How about you MacInDoc, any sign of yours??

It's on a FedEx truck in Calgary, AB, scheduled for delivery this morning! So, it arrived 2 days before Apple expected it would ship!   Unfortunately, I'm not in this morning, so I'll have to pick it up at the FedEx depot tonight.

I must say I'm glad I didn't pay extra for expedited shipping, because mine seemed to ship as fast as anyone else's. If I had paid for expedited shipping, I'd be asking for a refund.

Just spoke with FedEx. Due to a holiday in China all dates were marked 10/13/04 for some weird reason. Apple confirmed this and is refunding any express shipping cost.

My pkg showed shipped on 9/24 due 10/13. FedEx told me alot of packages in Indy had just cleared customs this morning (9/28) and missed the first outbound departures but would go out for delivery on Wed 9/29 instead. The person seemed very knowledgable about the problems.

Patiently waiting myself....

This is a little OT, but I wonder why Apple accepts expedited shipping fees for these kinds of orders. They nearly always get the international direct from the factory orders here as fast as they can, and when there are delays, they are usually on the end close to the factory and the expedited shipping doesn't cover that anyway.

If I'm sure it's coming straight from the factory overseas, I always choose free ground shipping from Apple. Then again, I usually do anyway! ;)

I hope the G5 is faster than the shipping!!

Is there anyone here who is waiting for their iMac G5 in the UK who has got the information that their computer was booked on to a flight on the 28th Chinese time? Also can anyone at all give me any idea of the timescale I'm looking at from being told that the iMac has a flight booked until it actually gets on the flight? Thanks! :)

KeareB and bluelemons,

Is this anything like what your tracking says?

The way I read mine, it's not in PH, but not in Japan, either. All these events took place yesterday our time (I hate that Date Line stuff...) and I've had no change since. It doesn't make sense to me.

I have to admit, I love FedEx, but their tracking leaves something to be desired. UPS tracking is much better. I'm always sure of where my package is sitting and waiting.

My iMac seems to be pretty much on the same path as yours. It looks like they broke down the pallet in Subic Bay, because it hasn't moved a bit, but the packages are moving.

I at least hope they do get on the flight today and not get moved over to Narita or some other Asian port. Just get here already

Here are the last 3 enntries on mine:

I must say, the FedEx tracking system is very confusing. I ordered a BTO 17" 1.8 with BT Kb/Mouse on the 20th and it shipped on the 24th, to Toronto, Canada, using apple.ca's educational web order page. Right now, FedEx says it arrived at Winnepeg at 1:18 today then departed at 7.

I am pretty sure this just means the paper works went through Winnepeg, and not the physical machine. Just like when they shipped my iPod, now it's probably going for a tour around the US (Alaska, and several other states), and finally arrive in Toronto after a few days from now.

Based on my experience with the iPod i ordered last time, which seems to be shipped from the exact same place, it should arrive by next Monday, which is exactly 6 business days from shipping date.

Well, I guess it makes sense, since NOLA and Houston are 'close' to each other, eh? ;)

I noticed that the tracking for my waybill# seems to have stopped in Subic Bay as well, while the individual iMac seems to have moved on. From what I've seen, it looks as though those that got their notices on Thursday got their iMacs today, so hopefully those who got their notices on Friday (is that when you got yours?) will get theirs tomorrow.

Just a little longer until FDX18 leaves Osaka for Memphis; hopefully our tracking will say ours are on the plane. (Though it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't see that stage until the iMacs are "on truck for delivery.")

sure is...anyone decipher WTF "held at sort facility" means? mine's in indy right now...

So is mine. From what I understand, ours didn't clear customs in time to make their respective planes this morning. The will be here tomorrow.

Of course, this is just what I gather from reading previous posts. I don't feel the need to call FedEx because I'm pretty sure we know more from reading this thread than most of the first-level call reps do at FedEx :)

Stuck in Shanghai

Damn, just checked Fedex, initially excited to see a new status today, quickly disolved into displeasure that it hasn't moved at all:

Sep 29, 2004 12:31 am
Package status
SHANGHAI CN
Package in FedEx location

Sep 27, 2004 2:58 pm
Left FedEx Origin Location
SHANGHAI CN

Sep 27, 2004 2:58 pm
Pickup status
SHANGHAI CN
Future pickup/delivery requested

It was picked up Monday, left Fedex origin locaiton on Monday, now 2 days later (China time) "in Fedex location", so it left and came back?

My status page had a couple other items on it when I checked it on Monday, implying that it was on the move, but those statuses were quickly removed from the page. I had assumed that "left Fedex origin location" meant that it was on the move- why would it go back?

So frustrating, maybe I ought to just buy a plane ticket, go out there and pick it up myself.

looks like flight 24 has been added to leave from tokyo at 2:06 PM. that makes 3 today...one arrived, one in flight, and one planned. please please please let mine make it onto one of these...
