WOOHOOO YES THANK GOODNESS!

Thank goodness!

I just "left FedEx sort facility" in Anchorage, AK at 17:02. It is funny to see the way that FedEx handles the time zone silliness, since it still thinks Shanghai is the most "recent" activity.

http://www.fedex.com/cgi-bin/tracki...y_code=us&initial=x&tracknumbers=671002535700

So here's to praying that it'll be in Indianapolis soon, and then checked through customs and on its way back to the "left" coast!

Sorry if this sounds drunk and out of control, I've never been so physically affected over a shipment!

Edit: To fix spelling.

Awesome! I have been using Cubase VST/32 since I bought it, gosh, four years ago now? I've been looking for an OS X replacement, I'm not a big fan of Cubase SX so I'm thinking about taking the plunge and moving to Logic. Do you like it?

Enjoy the new iMac!

Yeah, I have a fast heart rate. Breaking a sweat at the keyboard here. A bit jittery. This is a sickness!

My blood pressure is up probably because I'm pissed my system ordered on 8/31 has yet to ship, tomorrow is the 'by' date of 9/29.

Of course it's not like calling and yelling at anyone will do any good. Because where else am I going to get a system that runs Panther?

Sorry for your woes, Trekkie. :(

I would be pretty ticked if I ended up waiting right up till the line, especially considering when you ordered.

Well it is finally on its way to the lower 48! Should get it tomorrow, but still keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey, that's the same time mine was clocked out! I think we're on the same plane to Indianapolis, and then we'll get routed to our more local hubs after we pass customs.

Heh heh! I was just about to post that mine was on that plane in reply to your 'no movement yet' post! Then I decided to see if you had posted since then. Your post quoted above showed up while I was looking. :)

I tried to correlate the departure time from AK to flights to Indy or Memphis via flytecomm, but couldn't exactly. I *think* they're on one of two flights to Memphis, but no time matches exactly. But it probably doesn't matter. If all goes well, they should be able to get them on flights to Houston and NOLA and to the trucks for delivery tomorrow. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, though, just in case. Hard not to!

I hope you get yours too. Here's to taking and posting pics in the AM!

I had mine at the office and finally got home at 7pm. Took over an hour to transfer all files (close to 50 gigs) and while that was going on I figured that this was a computer that made you wait for the pleasures.

Waited since January for it to be introduced, then the wait since June knowing it would probably be released in Paris, then the wait for the order to ship, the joys of waiting for FedEx, waiting to get it home from the office and THEN the final wait for it to transfer data.

But ya know what? It's worth the wait(s)!

The 20" is awesome and the computer feels more overwhelming than the 23". Don't know if it is the white plastic surrounding it, the "chic" or what, but it is huge. I have a feeling that those with the 17" on order will be just as pleased as if they had a 20".

Too tired to get into it too much tonight, just wanted to reassure those still waiting that is WELL worth the wait.

What a joy!

Matthew,

Since you had posted your tracking number is was following yours too, it ends looking like all you missed out on was a tour of the orient and got the direct from Shanghai to Anchorage, where a lot of us got a tour of the Philippines and Japan.

Joe Mac,

Good to hear you are moving too! :D From the times posted I think we may go through Indy first then Memphis then Houston and New Orleans respectively for you and me. Should be no problem for delivery tomorrow as people who went through Indy last night received theirs today.

But like I said before, my fingers are crossed!

getting close

Here's to hoping there will be at least two happy Sacramento-area Mac enthusiasts tomorrow morning!

Hey, my iMac might not be as cultured, but at least it's coming home! :D

FedEx/Apple shipping

Well, after being told earlier today by FedEx that I could pick up my iMac at their depot tomorrow, I phoned them back, since I had seen posted by one MacRumors member that Apple did not allow them to hold or redirect shipments. Sure enough, when I talked with another FedEx rep, he told me that they could NOT hold the shipment, and would try to deliver it again tomorrow morning. When I told him that nobody would be at that address tomorrow morning, he said there was nothing he could do unless Apple called Fedex to approve the rerouting, and even if Apple did so, delivery would take an additional day. Now, FedEx policy is that after 2 attempts at delivery, they hold the package at their sort facility for 5 days, then send it back. Since they can't hold it at their sort facility due to Apple's shipping policy, what will happen with my iMac if nobody's home tomorrow morning?

I'm not sure why people have asked others to post pictures when they receive their iMacs. Don't they all look the same? If you really want to see my iMac, it's keeping me company in the photo of me in the MacRumors Members Photo Directory. I was pleased that my box arrived without too many smudges, since I like to save the pictures on the sides of Mac boxes to use as wall decorations.

Well, maybe I'm not going to receive my iMac today. My status hasn't changed since yesterday, maybe FedEx is having somebody walk my iMac from Indianapolis to Florida.

Sep 28, 2004 3:50 PM In transit INDIANAPOLIS, IN Departed location

Oh well, who need a new mac anyway :)

You have to had expected this. With the hurricane, planes and other shipments to Florida were delayed and backed up. I'm sure the need for additional supplies in the state are also taking precedence over normal commerce.

Pretty easy for me to say since mine was delivered yesterday. Hope your does arrive today.

I need to stop whining:

Sep 29, 2004 5:55 AM At dest sort facility TAMPA, FL

I guess FedEx tracking is just very not good. Thanks to everyone for their support on the thread!

I was hoping to be able to tell if I was going to get it today, but as of 5:45 AM CT, it says

Sep 29, 2004 1:31 AM Int'l shipment release INDIANAPOLIS

That would be 12:31 AM CT. It could've made a flight to Houston and to the local depot for delivery today, but that seems to be cutting it real close if the time is accurate. I woke up so excited. This darned FedEx tracking really messes with ya.

And trekkie, I would call Apple if I were you. You should have at least gotten a 'not gonna make it' e-mail by now. They'd probably just give you a shpiel <sp?> but maybe they won't or maybe it would help or maybe they'd say "we can't find your order. Oh, it slipped behind this desk. Here's one for free!"

I agree. Mine didn't update until just a few minutes ago, it seems like it takes forever to get a status update. Keep hitting refresh!

Has anyone in the UK who ordered a BTO iMac had anything delivered or shipped yet? That date 30/09/2004 (UK date format :) ) is getting pretty close now. :)

I agree, I also think that due to these circumstances it would have been possible to redirect AT LEAST one iMac to Australia for me =P :(
