Can't figure out how to get rid of things once they're on the dock, though.
Just click down on them and hold it then drag the icon out of the dock. The icon will go poof and that's it.

Well, it's 30 min until the date of 9/29/04 ends on the east coast and my status still says 'ship on/before 9/29/04'. When I called this morning they told me it'd ship today.

On order now since 8/31/04.

Sorry to hear that, Trekkie. Since I'm in a similar situation, I was hoping they would come through for you. My ship date is still listed as 9/30.

I hope you have good news soon. :)

EMEA

rjcarnell said:
Hey, hope everyone is doing well. Can anyone tell me what fast ship EMEA means as reagards a time frame from getting from the Netherlands to the UK, and does it mean that the iMac will come by plane to the UK? Anyone who can answer this will be helping me loads, thanks! :)

It means 'Europe, Middle East and Africa'. It does come by plane, in my experience to Stansted, but someone else pointed out it could be to another airport, depending upon your location in the UK. For me, it took about 48 hours for TNT to deliver once it (that is, my previous iMac) had arrived at Stansted, but it could be longer if it arrives over the weekend, or shorter, depending upon whether it arrives in time for a normal daytime delivery.

i'm going down to westworld tomorrow to pick up an ipod case and ut2004. will check status again there.

ordered: 6 september
"shipped": 23 september

received: 29 september

20" BTO - 256MB RAM, 250GB HD, SuperDrive, Airport, no BT.

it looks great, runs great, goes fast. it passed all software and hardware tests and is smooth as silk with 2GB memory. (xbench says 155+.)

my official complaint is that the setup migration software says it works with any firewire-capable mac, but of course that would exclude just one kind of mac, B&W G3s, which is what we had. so after i made that complaint, i found out that 100baseT goes about 4x faster than firewire target disk mode... at least with this old mac on one end of the wire... so being forced to move 120GB over ethernet was a good thing.

(i can't believe this is the whole computer. goodbye wires!)

I can't believe my iMac is still sitting in pieces on the floor of some factory in shanghai while some guy eats his lunch using my lcd panel as a plate!

grrrr-ness. iMac MUST ship this week, right?

Congrats trekkie! Sorry you got shipped so late, though it was technically on time or so. It's a super Mac and you'll love it; I can't add to the praise you've seen heaped on it here and elsewhere.

I decided to generally not use the Setup Assistant, because I wanted to clean up a bit after collecting three years of stuff on my iBook. So, I move over things as I remember them, which can be a PITA, but it also tells me what I can delete from the iBook to free up space on the relatively small (40 GB) hard drive. I did end up using the assistant to move my wife's account to the iMac, because neither I nor she knows everything that's in her account!

LIke I said before, once you get it, you'll forget the wait. And you'll sit there, looking at the thing, thinking, "this computer is more than I know what to do with!" ;)

iMac Almost Here!

Well, the journey is almost over.

Order placed 9/16. Original promise date OOB 10/14. First sign of delivery was 9/25 pickup at Shanghai, CN. Even then, the expected delivery was 10/13.

As of 9/30, the iMac is within a few hours of my home. I may see iMac today, 9/30 or 10/1 latest. By the way, I guess I complained a lot with Apple and they ended up giving me a $100 break on an iPod--nice gesture.

Does anyone know when I can expect this? I have expeditied shipping to Canada

Link from Apple to FedEx says it's at its destination location(my school's mailroom) but if I track the number on it's own it still says it's at the FedEx location an hour away...what's this all about? It doesn't have the "signed by" that it usually does after delivery. I just hope it's here.

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!!!
shipped! :)
17" 1.8 ghZ, 1 gb ram, 160 gb hd, airport and bluetooth
ordered 1/9 with edu discount from norway.
it was shipped today! :) yeah!

I can't believe it!!!

Well, what do you know, I finally get to join the Fedex tracking party! :D

I found out my 20 inch beauty shipped at 5:03 AM eastern time.

Since I paid for the expedited shipping I wonder if I will receive it any quicker than those who went with standard shipping. It seems like a lot of people who chose standard got theirs pretty quickly any way.

What a great way to start the day! :p

Apple UK - Imac G5 shipping delays?

Looks like Apple UK have screwed up their logistics again (remember the 'Panther' release fiasco?)

Ordered my imac20/1.8G5/256/250G/SD/BTWLKB/B on 31st Aug and according to Kuehne & Nagel it hasn't moved from Shanghai since 25th! The status has been stuck on 'Flight booked' for the last few days.

Apple Store UK customers had an email a while back telling them that the stores delivery problems had been sorted out - well I'm begining to doubt it. I've been onto the store twice now and they keep promising to contact logistics and find out whats wrong, but no reply as yet.

By all accounts, it looks like FedEx have done a pretty good job for all you USA customers - I only wish Apple UK were using them.

The waiting continues.......

In Indianapolis...

Current status is "Regulatory Agency Clearance Delay." I assume this means it has yet to clear Customs. I would have thought this would have taken place in Anchorage.

Anyone have any idea how long this process usually takes?

Chinese holiday

For all of us who now have shipped status, are we dead in the water until next week, due to chinese holiday, or does Fedex, still continue on.

Nice! There's still hope then.

Oh Mama!

It's arrived! Fedex just dropped it off at my office. And it's a beaut. Now I gotta plow through a full work day before I get home to play. Will the waiting ever end!!!

Ordered on 8/31, Shipped 9/25, Delivered 9/30
20" BT 512MB 160GB

For those of you still waiting - have patience, it will come and it's so worth the wait. Everyone at the office was blown away by it!

Technically about 75 - 100 people that ordered BTOs AFTER I did already got their machines so Apple can take their technicallity and kiss my butt! :)

Hasn't moved from fedex yet, i think their system sucks as far as updating real time. Other things I've tracked look dead for a day or so then next day they've hopped halfway around the world with dates from the day before.
