I got back from WestWorld, and they said that it may be a week before it ships. .

Another week!?! That sucks! I ordered mine at Mac Station in Burnaby. No news yet. Of course, since we're north of the 49th, there may be delays with customs brokers, etc. ENOUGH ALREADY!! What's worse is that since I didn't order direct from Apple, I can't even track the shipment. Mac Station is no help. They claim Apple gives them NO information on what is coming or when on new products.

I've been trying to finish an iDVD project on my father-in-law's DP G4 15 km away. It's really frustrating! I feel like my life is in a holding pattern until it arrives. The anticipation is killing me. Especially after seeing pictures from other posts.

Hoping will come soon: iMac G5 20" / 250GB HD / 1Gig Ram / BT

Nooooo!!!! just got an e-mail form apple saying that my imac is delayed until oct 29. ordered mine at aug 31st their going to make me wait 2 months to get a computer...

Oh man. That sucks horrendously. Have you called and yelled at them?

Please tell me its not true!

My iMac is in INDIANAPOLIS with a Shipment exception. The details state: Regulatory agency clearance delay. I just got off the phone with a FedEx rep who told me its because the customs department has a problem with the declared value of the computer. He said that it may take a week to get this straightened out because of the holliday. Can this be possible? I have been waiting since August 31st for this thing. Now its in the US and I still can't get it.

When will this saga end!

I have 2 day shipping but I appear to have been Shanghai-ed. Received an e-mail on the 9/28 that it had shipped so 9/30 I am looking for a package from the FED X guy. Check tracking it's still in Shanghai. So I call an apple rep and get them to check since I have "2 day Shipping". She says very non-confidently that I should get it tomorrow. If I do not then I can ask for a refund of my 2 day shipping. By the way I ordered on 8/31/04 6am CDT a 20" 250 with 1G BT KB & M

Apple Predicted shipping date of my 20" BTO (ordered 8/31): 9/30
Once shipped, Fed Ex prediction: 10/13
Actual shipping: 9/24
Arrival w/expedited shipping: 9/29

Pretty good initial estimate by Apple.

BTW: THIS THING IS AWESOME...beyond expectations.

I have the same problem... looks like our macs made the trip together. But a week because of the holiday... WHAT holiday? Did they happen to say?

Wow, that really bites. I hope for your sake they're way off on that new date. I suppose the Chinese national holidays could account for a week of that time, but a whole month? That's rediculous.

I can't believe I was upset that mine didn't ship ahead of the 9/30 date they gave me. Now I feel like I'm one of the lucky ones.

It's a National Holliday in China. The celebration lasts a week. I just called Apple and the guy there said that the FedEx Rep did not know what he was talking about. Customs can clear the issue by calling Apple in CA. Who to believe. Anyway, I was told to call FedEx International Direct at 800-455-4588. They are there 6 to 6 Central time. I hope when I wake up tomorrow the issue will be moot because the tracking system will say on truck for delivery.

:D :D I'm typing this from my new iMac. im soo happy its finally here and i wish the best to those of you that are still waiting :)

Considering that the things are in Indianapolis, I wouldn't think that a Chinese holiday would have anything to do with it... LOL.

Thanks for the info!

Now if we can just find someway to track packages thru customs....

I can't see any upgrades on that order. Are you anywhere near an Apple reseller?

To have that much of a delay on a stock model is unacceptable. Apple should offer you a hefty discount not to cancel your order.

Mine's also in Indianapolis, since 4am this morning, delayed by agency. From what I've seen, others posting the full shipping itinary showed the Indianapolis stop to last between 12-24 hours, so I'm hoping tomorrow it will be on the move again.

It also sounds like there's a some misinformation being spread around by different sources:

1. Customs holding it because they don't believe the stated value?
I find it hard to believe, with thousands of these things passing thru the same airfield in the last 2 weeks that they'd balk at a few of them.

2. Held up due to holiday?
This seems to be the excuse of the week. I can't imagine an economy as big as China coming to a complete halt for an entire week. And since the units are in the US now I don't think China enters into the picture anymore since they are Apple products, and Apple is US-based.

Speaking of China's national holiday, aren't they due to launch an astronaut (taikonaut) into orbit one of these days? Its been speculated that this would occur on China's national holiday.

In conclusion, I would say don't waste your time calling around if you're unit has shipped. So far I haven't seen anyone saying that it has taken more than a week or so from shipment to delivery. The key is to have patience, it will arrive soon.

Looks like all's well now... got an "Int'l shipment release" on the Fedex tracking page now...

Same here. Our computers must have shared a pallet from China. It looks like mine will be in California by tomorrow. I already took a vacation day to set it up and play around with it.

It's almost over :)

Also, I partitioned it so that instead of one massive partition, I have a root partition for Applications and Home and then a big old 100GB + storage partition.

note to others who may want to partition their drives. if you dont allocate enough room on the root partition (the one with the os on it), you'll hinder the performance of the machine. the drive or partition needs a certain amount of headroom (unused disk space) in order to function properly. my notebook was slowing down and i didnt really know why. once i backedup a bunch of files off line...freeing hard drive space my notebook was snappy again.

Or...

And yet, it's only just begun... I'm moving from a pc and still wondering how to move 9 years worth of email from outlook express...??? I think everything else will be okay. Still, I wonder.

having at least 10GB free on the root partition seems like a good minimum... that covers a lot of virtual memory use and a few other things and it probably protects from problems even when a lot of apps are running.

The tracking web site is

http://www.apecode.com/appletrack/

Edit: The number you need is the one that is at the end of the link, not the one shown on the page.

Thought the status of mine has been on hold/plane/truck failure since the 23rd, And I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks from tomorrow :(

Hopefully it will be here waiting for me when I get back. :)

Disney here I come :D

Don't worry, It may be my first Mac, and I'm excited about it, but Disney is something I really know about :D Nothings going to spoil that trip. Besides, if it arrived today, I would just be frustrated not being able to use it.
