Shipping!!!! Arrrrrghhhh

Somebody tell me this is an error. My orginal delivery date from apple was October 13....Now Fedex says this.

Ship date Sep 30, 2004
Estimated delivery date Oct 22, 2004 by 6:00 pm

My iMac was in Memphis just a few hours ago, so I figured I'd get it on Monday, but it just touched down at TF Green just a few minutes ago. Depending on Fedex' schedule, I just may get it today. My luck I'll be out to lunch when he shows up

Update: Oct 1, 2004 7:34 am
On FedEx vehicle for delivery
WARWICK RI

Looks like I'll be getting it today.

Sorry there won't be any pictures, and I'll probably disappear from this thread after this. Good luck to all those still awaiting shipment, and to those who have shipped already, don't worry, it takes less than a week.

Ordered 8/31, shipped 9/27, delivery (pending) 10/1

Good luck! I was hoping for some type of update on the fedex site overnight but it still shows it being picked up at Shanghai over 36 hours ago with no movement :(

Yeah mine showed Shanghai as the location status for about 48 hours, but I don't think Fedex updates the status as frequently internationally as they do Stateside. It will probably be on the move all weekend so you might find it at least in one of the Fedex hubs by Monday, if not in your home city.

Another month-long delay on shipping to Canada

Hi IBSNOWEDIN,
If it helps you're not the only one who just got another one month delay notice. I also ordered a stock IMAC G5 20/1.8/256/160/SD-USA on August 31 (8:19 PST) with an original ship date of OOB Sept. 30. I woke up to find a delay notice from Apple just like yours. Now our ship date is OOB November 1!

To clarify this was purchased on-line through the Apple Store as an Education customer. Did you place your order as a regular user or as an Education client?

I'll call around Calgary today to get see if anyone has any in stock but I'm guessing I'll be best off just continuing to wait in line. It's strange that everyone in the US and Europe seems to be getting their 20" orders. You and I seem to be the only customers getting official delay notices.

WTF, Where is my Imac G5 :(

Order on 31-8. OOB 12-10 :( Still nothing. Order is still open. I cant believe this. All the ppl who order later are having it already.

Why is is taking so long?

Order a 20", 256mb, 160GB, Airport Xtreme, BT mouse and Keyboard.

No delay email yet (Hope not to get one :) )

Overwhelming

My Switch is now about 36 hours old. I have to tell you that this machine is not just exceeding my expectations, it is overwhelming them.

For those waiting, it will be well worth it. Hang in there: :D

Fan noise

I read someone complaining about fan noise. Here's the solution:

At an ambient room temperature of 75 F (24 C), the fans are off, or running so slowly I cannot hear them at all.

Between 75 F and 78 F, a low whisper. At about 82 F (28 C), all three fans are on and noticeable.

So crank up the a/c.

Left Fedex Ramp

Ok, can anyone tell me how long it took once the below occurred???

Left FedEx Ramp/SHANGHAI CN 10/01/2004 21:31

Trekkie, we are still in the same boat. Mine "shipped" the day before yours, and it is still sitting in China. I assume we are going to on the same pallet. If you check the waybill number, it seems to update a little more. Every night at around 10:30 it kindly restates that the pallet is still in China. How kind.

I'm hoping that FedEx runs during the holiday, that fewer businesses send packages during the holiday and as a result our iMacs get a spot on a plane soon.

Question: Are waybill and tracking number the same thing, interested in checking what you state

Mine took five days. Paid expedited shipping, but others did not and got same results.

Keep in mind that Apple stated they would take a profit hit on the first batches and ship them air mail. The clear implication was that at some point, they would revert to the more cost effective "slow boat from China."

Don't know if that has kicked in yet, but it will at some point.

Did you make a complaint or just live with it. Mine better be here after the money I paid, or fire balls

I'm CoNfUsEd!!

What does this series of events mean:

1. Ordered BTO iMac on 9/20
2. Received shipping notice on 9/29 and noticed my credit account has a hold on it for the amount of the iMac.
3. FedEx tracking number shows it's at the FedEx location in Shanghai since 9/30 (today is 10/1).
4. Checked my credit account balance and the hold is gone - the amount is now BACK in available credit (as if Apple "forgot" to charge me???).
5. This morning, FedEx reports estimated delivery on 10/18 (!!!).

Anyone seen this happen before? Thanks for chiming in. This will be my first Mac and I've already sold my home-made XP box (for about $900 - it was crammed with goodies) and am suffering with a Linux installation on a 5 year old Celery 500 in the interim! AAAAHHHH!!!

Similar to me. Mine now says left Fedex ramp, Shanghai, and est. delivery of Oct. 22. Originla from apple said October 14. I think Fedex doesn't update enough. Plus if I check through apple order status versus fedex.ca and fedex.com I see different things.

Flipside. This will be my 3rd mac. I switched from Pc at least 5 years ago. Its like Air conditioning in your car owning a mac. Once you drive something without air conditioning you hate it. Like right now I'm using a PC at work.

I'm too happy to complain, and since Apple beat the shipping date by six days, I have no basis to do so.

Tracking is linked to the specific box.

Waybill is linked to the pallet with several specific boxes.

I found the waybill number on the invoice sent by Apple after the shipping notification.

Apple's status simply says "Shipped" and isn't much help beyond that. What about the credit card hold/release issue? Did that happen to you too?

Ours must be sitting side by side.

1. Ordered BTO iMac on 8/31
2. Shipping notice on 9/30 at 5AM
3. Identical, 9/30 at 1:30pm it was 'picked up'
4. Identical, authorization charge was days before shipping notice time to buy something else! heh
5. I'm on 10/20....

Me too...

I ordered the following: IMG5 20/1.8/256MB/160GB/SD/AP/BT/WL KBDD

Exactly the same computer on the 31/8 and its still listed as 'open'. On or Before the 5th October. They have till Tuesday when I call them and do some serious venting.....

This is SO frustrating

What is going on !? What is particularly galling is that they are filling other orders. SO WHAY NOT OURS !

This will be my 5th mac since my first SE (1Mb RAM and a <GASP> 20Mb hard drive !)
But its certainly by far the most frustrating..

I got mine as an education customer on-line at apple.ca. and my local apple store has none in stock but have a 17" on display.

for this shipping service, ignore fedex's expected delivery dates. their computers are making those up.

we'll know exactly when that kicks in - the origination point of shipments should then be a local warehouse - instead of china. probably they're putting some machines on boats right now, as they increase production.

That certainly sounds like an error to me. I would give Fed-EX a call.

Still waiting on 20" BTO

Ordered my 20" BTO (250GB Drive, BT, WirelessKey/Mouse, AE) on Sept. 1 from local Apple dealer here in Germany...still no sign of the iMac...
