Jim_ said:My iMac was in Memphis just a few hours ago, so I figured I'd get it on Monday, but it just touched down at TF Green just a few minutes ago. Depending on Fedex' schedule, I just may get it today. My luck I'll be out to lunch when he shows up![]()

criswell said:Trekkie, we are still in the same boat. Mine "shipped" the day before yours, and it is still sitting in China. I assume we are going to on the same pallet. If you check the waybill number, it seems to update a little more. Every night at around 10:30 it kindly restates that the pallet is still in China. How kind.
I'm hoping that FedEx runs during the holiday, that fewer businesses send packages during the holiday and as a result our iMacs get a spot on a plane soon.

Left FedEx Ramp/SHANGHAI CN 10/01/2004 21:31

Keep in mind that Apple stated they would take a profit hit on the first batches and ship them air mail. The clear implication was that at some point, they would revert to the more cost effective "slow boat from China."
Don't know if that has kicked in yet, but it will at some point.
jeffchapmanjc said:What does this series of events mean:
1. Ordered BTO iMac on 9/20
2. Received shipping notice on 9/29 and noticed my credit account has a hold on it for the amount of the iMac.
3. FedEx tracking number shows it's at the FedEx location in Shanghai since 9/30 (today is 10/1).
4. Checked my credit account balance and the hold is gone - the amount is now BACK in available credit (as if Apple "forgot" to charge me???).
5. This morning, FedEx reports estimated delivery on 10/18 (!!!).
Anyone seen this happen before? Thanks for chiming in. This will be my first Mac and I've already sold my home-made XP box (for about $900 - it was crammed with goodies) and am suffering with a Linux installation on a 5 year old Celery 500 in the interim! AAAAHHHH!!!![]()
besonmark said:Did you make a complaint or just live with it. Mine better be here after the money I paid, or fire balls
besonmark said:Question: Are waybill and tracking number the same thing, interested in checking what you state
besonmark said:...if I check through apple order status versus fedex.ca and fedex.com I see different things.

Why is is taking so long?
Order a 20", 256mb, 160GB, Airport Xtreme, BT mouse and Keyboard.
No delay email yet (Hope not to get one)
guy_davis said:Hi IBSNOWEDIN,
If it helps you're not the only one who just got another one month delay notice. I also ordered a stock IMAC G5 20/1.8/256/160/SD-USA on August 31 (8:19 PST) with an original ship date of OOB Sept. 30. I woke up to find a delay notice from Apple just like yours. Now our ship date is OOB November 1!
To clarify this was purchased on-line through the Apple Store as an Education customer. Did you place your order as a regular user or as an Education client?
I'll call around Calgary today to get see if anyone has any in stock but I'm guessing I'll be best off just continuing to wait in line. It's strange that everyone in the US and Europe seems to be getting their 20" orders. You and I seem to be the only customers getting official delay notices.
for this shipping service, ignore fedex's expected delivery dates. their computers are making those up.jeffchapmanjc said:What does this series of events mean:

we'll know exactly when that kicks in - the origination point of shipments should then be a local warehouse - instead of china. probably they're putting some machines on boats right now, as they increase production.gatorron said:Keep in mind that Apple stated they would take a profit hit on the first batches and ship them air mail.
