in case anyone cares my iMac still is not in Australia. I think they might actually be boating them to Australia. Once they're in Australia they will move fast with startrak express. but until then i have no information on their status.

bastards.

I definitely care being in same boat. Have you harangued Apple Aust at all?

Today's the day!

8:01 AM on Fedex vehicle for delivery. :)

These are the sweetest words my eyes have ever beheld. Okay, maybe that's a slight exageration.

Still, this day has been a long time coming. I'd dance a little jig if I wasn't afraid of throwing my back out. :p

only every monday morning for the last month. :p

they say next week. whatever. i think i'm over it. i'm too busy to be excited about a computer anymore. the buzz is gone. i'll get it, i'll get it set up and going, i'll be pleased at the extra real estate on my desk and on my screen and i'll keep working.

i could only keep up an intensity of anticipation for a limitied time.

what is kind of silly is they say i'm 7th in line, the same as i was last week. they also say, sillily that, they will send me a shipping notification next week - and i'll get the imac the next day. what's the point of a shipping notification then!? if i can't track it from china, i'd rather it just turn up on my doorstep randomly.

ah well, iMac on way. be happy with that.

btw. 20" stock + 1gb ram

Mine left on same plane from Anchorage to Indy along with some of yours, but mine is also stuck in Indy with "regulatory agency clearance delay". Why release some and not others? Hope you get yours today Trekkie, looks like tomorrow for me.

Maybe the authorities chose one pallet at random for closer scrutiny. Tough break.

Woo Hoo.

on an even better note my daughter's 3rd birthday is today and she is getting the old iMac to play her 'discs' on. Gotta love the jumpstart stuff that is mac compatible. Too bad it's mostly OS 9 stuff though

Location- Florida grade school classroom.

President Bush sits on a stool, a copy of My Pet Goat in his hand. He appears to struggle to keep up as a student reads aloud. A Secret Service Agent approaches. He leans over and wispers in Bushes ear " Mr. president, your new 20 inch iMac G5 was just dropped off at the White House".

Suddenly, the president jumps to his feet and says " Sorry kids, I can't stay. I've just been alerted to an issue of utmost urgency that requires my immediate attention" and sprints from the room, almost knocking the stunned teacher off her feet as he flies past.

This image just popped into my head as I was sitting here. Sorry in advance if I offended anyone. Its just that I've often wondered what it would take to get Bush off that stool.

That's too bad melchior, I hope that your iMac G5 will arrive in Australia soon. Now days it would seem that they would fly them over. Limbo is not fun. :(

It be here. Taking pictures, migrating data, as soon as stuff is over I'll start posting things.

Very, very cool.

3hrs and 39 mins remaining on the transfer form the old iMac. We'll see how it really goes, but I have to head in soon.

I spoke with FedEx, and they said my package was missing some necessary paperwork when it arrived in Indy. They said they had received the correct documentation, though, this morning, and it would be moving again. They said they expect it to be delivered tomorrow, but they could make no assurances.

Congratulations!! I guess tomorrow's ok for me, I still have to go in search of a 6pin to 6pin firewire cable. Circuit City and Best Buy are out. Or I could just choose to make a fresh start since I have everything backed up on my external drive I could opt to just loose all my personal settings. No big deal to reset up network stuff and my bookmarks are out of hand anyway. Hmmmm.....to transfer or not to transfer?

Now to return to my own 20" vigil..
And happy Birthday to the wee one.

BTO iMac G5 in the UK - anyone received theirs yet?

As soon as it was announced I jumped on the UK Apple Store and ordered my BTO 17" iMac G5 with the necessary 512Mb, Bluetooth keyb/mouse and airport card. The Apple Store gave a ship date of 28th Sept. It actually shipped earlier on 23rd Sept. Got excited at the prospect of it arriving soon after.

It's now 5th Oct and there's still no sign of my iMac. The online tracking has mentioned Shanghai (23rd and 24th Sept) and Luxembourg (1st Oct). The Apple Store staff on the end of the phone say it now has to travel to the Netherlands before coming to me in Manchester, UK. They predict Thursday, but can't explain what the hold up has been.

"You should have had it by now", is the very comforting response I get from them!

I want my iMac NOW!

As someone previously noted, we can't be expected to maintain our enthusiasm for a product this long! Any other UK iMac fans still waiting for their BTOs?

Well it's been stuck at 2hrs 41 minutes for some time now, and I have to go. So i'll not be able to post my pictures until this evening when I get back.

Looking forward to playing with Final Cut Express and everything. They keyboard and mouse are very nice wireless wise and I like that they came with the batteries, and not the cheapy ones but Energizer 2 ones.

Mine is here

My 20" Arrived today. Pretty speedy, especially considering my original ship date was 10/15. Now, if I can just get home any faster.

Still Waiting!!!

Went to my local Apple dealer today (Germany) to get info about my 20" BTO iMac. Ordered Sept. 1....Still Not Shipped!!!! What the f*%!. That I find wierd especially when people from other parts of the globe have already received theirs even when ordering well into September!

Clearance delay
WINNIPEG, MB

I guess we're pallet buddies :)
I think FedEx uses Cargojet (Canada 3000's old cargo service) so it should be tomorrow or Thursday, providing they clear customs.

if this is of any help my 1.33Ghz 12" powerbook (bto, 5400 80gb drive fitted) took ages to get to Manchester UK. at least 3 weeks longer than expected. i don't think the delay you get is anything specific to the imac g5. if that is of any comfort.

Regulatory Agency Clearance Delay in IN

To those who are stuck in IN, your iMac and mine are probably on the same pallet. How does one define "Delay"?

Funny thing is, my iMac landed in Alaska and then flew over my head (in Seattle) to land in Indianapolis to get delayed further.

There's still hope!
Within a minute of me posting the above reply I got a call from my reseller that it's on it's way and should be here before the weekend. Yeah!!! I'll keep you posted. :) It's a good Monday! a very good Monday.
That's good news! I've auctioned off my existing computer so it'll be gone tomorrow. It will be nice to get the new one set up with time to play over the weekend. :D

This thing is huge!

This is my first post on my new baby. This big screen is going to take some getting used to.

As for my first impressions, so far I love everything about it except for the feel of the keyboard. I feels a little mushy compared to my Ti-book. still, the freedom from wires is grest. I'm so glad I waited.

The data transfer from my 'book went smoothly. The iMac started out estimating about 2 1/2 hours to transfer all my stuff, but only took about 40-45 minutes.

I played a couple of iTunes tracks and though the built-in speakers sound good, they just don't play loud enough.

Oh, and did I mention the screen is huge!!? :)

That's all I have time for now.

My sympathies to those still waiting. Hang in there, it will be worth the wait.

Canada!!!!

Man oh man...THIS HAS BEEN HELD UP SINCE YESTERDAY.....ANYONE ELSE WITH SAME ISSUE

Best I can figure

That the hold up in Indy is just random. They pull some boxes out to make sure no illegal aliens are in there or anything. Like stillwater said this thing is huge so who knows what could be in the box. :D

My bet would be if you were held up in Indy last night it will be to your door by 10 tomorrow morning.

And you will love it! Quiet, fast and oh yeah, HUGE. And I'm coming from a 19" crt and was not expecting the 20" to be this much bigger.

and why is it that a 6 pin to 6 pin is so hard to find. I ended up breaking down and buying online. Oh and bought more ram, not that I thought I needed it, but why slight the machine's full potential and get that 128 bit speed. :D
