Bah, they do put the fce disc in the box with the imac, then? I was hoping to get one of the retail boxes so that I could show if off.

Nice pics, could you post some of FCE in action?

I don't really know which papers they mean. I did call Apple and explain the situation to them, and the woman I spoke with put me on hold for a while before reporting that "all the documentation had been sent," it was a normal customs issue and the iMac should be "back on the road" at some point soon. "Maybe tomorrow, but you should receive it by Monday." I am so deflated right now, but I don't know what else to do.

MONDAY!!!!!!!!??????? That's horrible! Well, I'm right there deflated along with you. Please.....not another weekend without! I keep putting in OT so I can take the time off to be home when Fedex is scheduled to deliver, by the time it arrives I'll have a week off worth of comp time......oh my, just what will I do?

Thanks for the update!

Heh. I'll have to figure out how to put it into action before I can take pictures of it in action :D

Lot more complex than I thought I guess. but still worth the $99 deal, I hope to learn it soon. Got a lot of reading to do.

anchorage woohoo!!!

yay!

its already in anchorage!!!

I wonder how long it will be until it hits quebec!!!

here are my stats.... should I hope for a friday final door shipping?:p

i'm a little confused with date/time... the times where it says shanghai must be shanghai time right? and the final 2 in anchorage must be in alaska time is that it?

so if it left at 17:08 anchorage time it was at 21:08 eastern time.... hum I wonder how the work shift works for things like that... I do suppose they are planes making flights at night from anchorage to canada...? Or do you think it will have to go to the USA first??? I ordered from Apple Canada if that can help...

damn i'm going crazy!!!! i SO damn wish I'll have it by friday !!!!!:)

Yes, it's just the disc and the books. No retail box. Sorry. :(

mine shipped too :)

Yoshmaster - my iMac G5 also shipped and has the same info/dates as yours. Right now it's in Anchorage, AK says "departed location". I was hoping to have it this week but things aren't looking good... I'm on call for work next week too :(

why do you say things arent looking good? where do you live?
i may be too optimistic but from what I have seen, if there isnt any delays at the border it mostly took 1-2days from anchorage to the home of people as far as south regions of USA... quebec is like a 5h flight from alaska...

anyway rainman we'll life this together whatever happens!:p
at worse we'll have to wait for monday but hey... we've waited so long now! anyway happy to see we are sharing planes:p

ciao plane-buddy!

I still haven't located a 6pin to 6pin firewire cable locally. Has anyone else opted to not do a transfer? I have everything backed up and all I think I would have to do is deal with my cable modem. I don't mind losing my bookmarks but if there's something I'm not thinking of......please slap me in the forehead and remind me that I be foolish to not transfer. Since it looks like I have the time to order a firewire cable online and probably get it before Indy releases my imac.

Thanks,

Marlene

Marlene,

I started out without transferring and just bought the firewire from apple yesterday and should get it tomorrow. The cable ships much faster than the iMac :) . To get bookmarks and address and that kind of stuff over I signed up for the free .mac trail and trasnferred it that way. The only other thing I wanted to move over is my music. We will see how that goes tomorrow night I guess once I get the cable.

Now just waiting on the RAM, apple did debit my card for that today too, so hopefully it will ship tomorrow.

I just can't seem to get enough of this.

I hear you. Mine is sitting in Indy too. Keeping yours and everyone elses that are waiting to pass regulatory clearance.

I'm in AZ so I don't think I'm getting it tomorrow. I'm going to France on Saturday and with the way my luck has been it will be delayed until after I'm gone. I'll be very bummed if that happens. I won't get to test it out until the end of October... Boo, hoo!

Now I'm not really one to talk since I am typing on my new iMac right now, (i am really not gloating, i know your pain) but that is a tough one to give sympathy for, missing out on your iMac arrival to be in France for a month, not a bad trade off.

Just kidding though, hopefully yours was released with Marlene's today and will be there tomorrow.

BTO 17" iMac G5 ordered on Day One now arrived in Manchester UK!

It's now 5th Oct and there's still no sign of my iMac. :(

Just got THE PHONE CALL. The call everyone hopes for, but never thinks will come...

TNT's van driver called - my iMac G5 has arrived in Manchester! Unfortunately, I can't get out of work to receive it, but I've arranged to pick it up from the local depot tonight. Expect the usual "opening box porn" soon after.

Three quick questions for those lucky enough to have received theirs:
1. I've ordered the bluetooth+keyb+mouse wireless option. Do you still get the wired keyboard and mouse as a backup as well?
2. Are the speakers loud enough in a small/medium sized room?
3. My old Mac is the only iMac G3 without firewire, so I can't use the convenient setup assistant transfer thingy. Aside from manually transferring via ethernet, what other options are there?

it's in Indianapolis!

Well, I thought i wasn't going to receive my iMac G5 until Monday however Fedex seems to be moving it along at a decent pace. 48 hours ago their webpage said it was in Shanghai, since then it's hit Anchorage AK, and at 3:47AM this morning it's in Indianapolis, IN for a "clearance delay" regarding the regulatory agency. This seems to be pretty normal based on the shipping path of everyone else that's already received their iMac.

If this comes Friday I'm taking the day off! Gotta call Fedex today to get a new ETA since it still says 10/20/04 on their webpage.

So - I'm going to have to migrate all my stuff off my iMac G4. I plan on using 100MB ethernet. Is there an application built into the OS for x-ferring to a new computer? If so, whats the program and what settings/items does it x-fer? I can move all my files off manually via ftp but if there's some nice app to handle the move I'd give it a try.

Well, thankfully they were wrong. It's finally in New York, but it won't be delivered until tomorrow. I'm okay, though. I'll enjoy this one more day of feeling like a 10 year old on Christmas Eve.

I did...

did anyone order their imac from macmall. I ordered on 9/8/04 and my status is still backordered. called macmall and they had no info for me?

I ordered mine from Macmall on 9/13 and the status changed to shipped Monday so I am hopeful it will be here by Friday. I'm kicking myself for not paying the extra to overnight it. :(
Maybe it depends on how you had it configured?

Stop kicking yourself. Paying for expedited shipping doesn't get it to you any faster. Apple is shipping all iMacs the same way right now.

Oops, my bad, I just noticed you didn't order direct from Apple.

1. No, and you'll never use them. Wireless too cool. Be sure to dump 2.4MHZ phones -- interference, especially w/AE. 5.8Mhz or corded are options.
2. Yes. But get an AE and send iTunes to your stereo. WAY too cool.

Hey Marlene, they've left Indy sorting early this a.m. so maybe they'll be on a plane to Phoenix today. Yay!

I believe that there's a fedex plane that arrives in Phoenix after 4pm, our macs should be on that plane so we should see tomorrow!

Christmas is coming a day early in NYC! I just checked again and my iMac is on the FedEx truck for delivery this morning. I'm staying home and waiting. Work seems so unimportant right now.....

I've had no problems with my entire 2.4GHz phone system and my airport express network that I know of. I've got the KGA-T2000 or whatever it is, 2 line multihandset system. I have five handsets.
