Ha! Doubt it...

Perhaps North Americans and Europeans might be interested to know that waiting a month or more for an Apple order for a new product isn't that unusual elsewhere.

I'm in New Zealand and ordered in early September and don't even have an ETA. This doesn't bother me because its par for the course down here.

So really, most of you are not really having to wait very long :)

Cheers

Jeremy

Today I have been told that it could ship in the next 2 days. Then obviously a week to get to me. That'll make it 2 months.

I wouldn't mind if it had been the original 4 weeks I had been quoted it is the lack of information and the weekly 'delay email' that is annoying me.

Surely Apple have a better idea of when stuff is going to ship. Tell me it will be an extra month don't keep telling me it is next week or tomorrow...

The TNT man came today...

And gve me an iMac. I'm a happy bunny. I'm not through downloading half the stuff I need, and I haven't installed any games (or work software) yet, so I won't natter on here too long. Just for the record, here's my order, beginning to end.:

•Ordered 6th October. OOB 3rd November
•1.6/17"/256/160/bluetooth bits.
•Order confirmed same day (whose doesn't) by the Apple education store UK (phone)
•Appletrack indicated flight departed 17th October
•"iMac shipped" email recieved 18th October
•20th October "Accept sccanne at EDC""Departed direct"
•21st October "truck arrived at final destination"
•22nd October truck passes through Arnhem
•23rd October arrived at Northampton Hub
•24th/25th October "Import recieved" in manchester
•26th October "out for delivery"

And it arrived around one

Good luck to all those still waiting. I hope this summary is of some use to someone. I think this is how they want it to happen all the time, and sometimes it just doesn't work out. No-one's perfect. Except my new iMac

mmm

I may well not post here for a while, but I'm thinking of all of you...

Good Luck!

Andy

I agree our wait is nothing and thanks to "free" shipping Apple probably waits until they have enough systems going to an area to get the best rates. I'll admit my wait has been very very short compared to most. I ordered on the 16th, Friday it went to Shanghai and Today, Tuesday, the IMAC is out for delivery to my house :( too bad noone is there to receive it :)

That's what has me wondering, why Apple doen't get a better handle on its shipping and delivery process. If Apple would tell the truth it would certainly make for a happier customer.

Flextronics Track & Trace

I don't know if this has been linked to before in this thread (I haven't read every page), but here's a link to Flextronics Logistics in the Netherlands, the place it seems where the European Apple equipment gets broken down and sent on it's way via TNT.

I was bored and started messing around and came up with the following:

go to https://www.iec-logistics.com/apps/tracktrace/trk_tracking.asp

Enter your region,

then your 10 digit tracking code starting 8xxxxxxxxx

and for the company name enter 'app' (without the quotes!)

It was a pure guess on my part but it worked and seemed to correspond to my order so I reckon it could be of use to others.

It's a bit more helpful as it gives times as well as dates.

Just another thing to occupy your time before your iMac arrives :)

Doesnt seem to work with my 80xxxxxxxx tracking number :(

And TNT still claim ignorance !

Aghhh.....

Oh well, my estimated ship date of October 25th has been and gone. Status is still open and not a word from Apple. :(

*Twiddles fingers a bit longer*

Hmm, how far has your status got to on the K+N tracking screen?

Mine is 'Truck arrived at final destination'

Me too.

T&K say: 'truck arrived at final destination' 25 okt 2004

And the 'Code Actual Status' is: 90 75 (whatever that means)

Since we are approaching the end of the 26th working day I had hoped for some further movement. The link from the AppleTrack page to TNT still throws up a 'Not Found' error message.

Oh well. Maybe the tracking system is batch updated overnight and tomorrow morning will throw up something new.

I think it must be batch updated as my status didn't change until this morning, yet if I look on the Flextronics page it shows that the delivery was made yesterday morning to them, yet nothing updated until today.

Patience, patience..............it's driving me mad.........

flypusher, my TNT tracking screen has now updated to show that it's en route to my home town.

The K+N screen has not been updated since 90 75 'truck arrived at ....'

Jesus, this is becoming rather anal, lets hope it's here quick and I can get on to posting about other things :D

good news at last!

like most other people in the uk, my imac had "arrived at final destination" on the 25th. but checking it's status for the 12th time today, the tnt link finally worked! it didnt say much but i rang tnt with my new tnt consignment number and they told me it would arrive thursday! great news at long last after 2 put backs in shipment!

ordered a 20inch bto with bluetooth, airport and 512 memory on the 8th of spetember and now with nealy 2 months gone, its 1 day away! will post pics as soon as i get it.

Yes indeed. It does seem as if we are rather degenerating into a couple of right saddo's.

Especially as I just stopped by to pass on the news that my TNT tracking page has just sprung into life too.

No details as to where it actually is, but they do now seem to know that they have something for me.

While I suspect that we are taking a not entirely healthy interest in the details of Apple shipping practices, it does seem as if they are making the whole process amazingly complicated.

Well, fingers crossed ! :)

Congrats. Seems as if they are definitely shipping them out in batches.

Did you ever get Andys' Flextronics tracking link to work with your 80xxxxxxxx number ? Mine seems to have jumped that stage (which still doesnt work for me) and gone straight to TNT.

johnny_v, mine is the same spec as yours but with 1GB of memory and it was ordered on the same day, the 8th.

I'll expect it Thursday then, which is damn typical as I have had two weeks off work but have to go in Thursday for the morning

I was hoping that I would get it tomorrow as I would think it may come into the Stansted hub as I am only about 15 minutes from the airport, but knowing the way these people operate it will probably be on the Outer Hebrides flight.

I'll post pics too if I can manage to stop drooling over it.

no that site didnt work for me either, but doesnt really matter anymore. no more checking that bloody tracking page!
and now apple want me to spend another 400 quid on a color ipod, it's just not fair, wages dont even touch my bank! who wants a well looked after, still in-date, 3rd generation ipod? anyone? didnt think so.

Apple Store visit _ shipping priority

Ok... i was in an apple store last week out here in denver, CO USA and the rep told me that if i was to order a custom imac from their customised apple store website then apple would bump me up in shipping q as they give priority to people who come into the store to oder. but then i am also eligible to for student discount for 100 dollars and hence i am stuck with the october 20th order date and OOB of 19th november as i had to order thru the edu store.

its that cool. now now i get frustrated that why whould apple make bluetooth option stictly assembly line... hell yaaa... just as they sell airport cards as add on i think so should be the case for bluetooth modules. also i think with this practice they are also discouraging users from trying out bluetooth as us mac geeks would hate to see a eye sore USB key sticking out at the back.

Great combo pricing as u can buy the BT combo for 99 dollars which if brought seperatly cost more then 140 for the keyboard, mouse set and another 30 bucks for the module. Not to mention that apple ships regular keyboard and mouse too along with the BT combo ( can somboedy confirm this for me )

Still waiting and i guess i will be for a long time to come

i can almost hear the delivery truck pulling into the driveway and buzz on my aprt door.

but if.. alas !!!...

rock on !!!!!!
;)

The irony...you're all desperately waiting for your iMac's and I'm *begging* Apple to take mine back. I'm in customer service hell, trying to get my unit fixed and Apple's response is to "wait and see what Engineering comes up with." In the meantime I have a computer that I'm loathe to turn on; the noise drives me crazy.

I'll stop there as I feel a rant coming on.

I dunno... reading up your plight makes me re think my decision. on the same note i am hopeful that the imac which is on order will not have the terribl noise.

dunno.. what to think of th new imac's :(

Aussie update - have been told over the phone my order will now be delayed from ship date of 26th Oct to 17th Nov. Reason given: that Apple Oz purposely delayed shipping out units because in the US and Europe there were difficulties with the power cord connection on the CPu being too loose or something, and that Apple Oz are checking each unit before shipping out.

What frustrates me the most is that the web order page still shows a ship date of yesterday.

Ah, well. That gives me a bit more time before putting the $AU2.5k (roughly) on the credit card. :p Now I just have to pay off the existing $AU1.7k that's due ... and that's without taking into account all the toys I'd love to buy ...

Anybody have the numbers for this Saturday's Tattslotto draw? I could do with a share in $18 million. :D

its SOOOOOOOO close....

After over 8 week, imagine my excitement when I checked the TNT tracking site this morning.

The page only went live late last night but as of one hour ago its 'Out for Delivery'. :D :D

Now I just have to find some reason to spend my morning hovering round the loading dock (where they accept the deliveries).

I'll post an update when it actually arrives.

Good luck to everyone else waiting !
