According to Apple.com Store, 17-inch iMacs now have a 5-7 day estimated ship time and and the 20-inchers have a 1-2 week ship time! Go there and check it out for yourself.

I'm stoked because I ordered myself a 20-incher with all the bells and whistles on Monday so hopefully I'll have mine in the next 10-14 days instead of 30+/- days.

That'll be the US store then. The UK store is still showing 2-3weeks. I wonder where the bottleneck is on the iMacs. We can be sure it's not the G5 as they can put two in a PM within 24hrs. Someone's mentioned a delay because of the internal BT module. If this is a supply problem maybe it's the reason it's not a standard item in this revision. Of course if it's not a supply problem but a problem actually getting it in to the enclosure (perhaps slowing the production line) maybe once the initial demand abates the'll be able to put it in as standard. ???

If the delay is with these BTO items the 5-7 days quoted in the US store could be for stock items only.

It probably is. I ordered my 20 inch on 27th Sept, original ship date was 26th Oct, and now it is 16th November. So if you ordered after 27th Sept you are definitely looking at a longer wait.

actually, i phoned apple today and asked them wether or not mine will be longer and i was told that a few with my configurations were arriving next week and so i would probably get one... i ordered directly from apple. (i don't know wether she meant a few computers or a few shipments by the way) either way i'm not going to count on it but i sure do hope she was right.

Well my replacement finally arrived and everything's perfect except for the scratch or crack or something through the screen :(

You ordered on the 27th of Sep? Ship date of the 26th of Oct? I ordered my 20" stock around the 2nd or 3rd of September, and I'm still bloody well waiting, with absolutely no word whatsoever.

If you get your 20" before I get mine, heads will roll. (And no, I don't mean your head -- I mean heads at Apple. :D)

That just isn't fair to have a replacement arrive damaged. Your damage sounds pretty serious. Have you contacted Apple? :(

Interesting fact.. shipping time

if u go to Apple US store and then click on imac 20 inch it says 1-2week shipping. if u go ahead and customize your order to add the wifi and the bluetooth then the shipping time estimate goes up to 2-3 weeks.

so i guess we bT module diggers need to wait a wee bit longer.

hopefully not too loong.

yo..

Ae_on :D

Just shipped!

Yeah!!! The latest poll on the Apple Store order status page bought me the happy news! My 17"/1.8/512MB/80GB/BTWKM just left the factory and is waiting for his flight to Luxemburg on 3 November! Still no shipping email from Apple...

Well, 5 days sitting in Shanghai is a lot of time... Did someone experience an early departure in spite of the K&N tracking date?

Ordered 28/9, Shipped 29/10. Ordered through Apple Store Italia.

it's shipped!!!..... a week ago!!!!

it'll be at my house on MONDAY at quarter to nine AM. The westworld guy is bringing it over and setting it up BEFORE he goes to work... how's that for customer service?? :D i'll have to cook him some egg-in-a-nest for breakfast; we bought him pizza two years ago when he came to set up my sisters G4 and the airport.

This sounds cheesy but this site really eased the wait, thanks a lot! Excuse my previous venting, but I was getting very anxious.

you mean to say !!!

this guy delivers imac's in exchange of some super "eggs in a nest" breakfast..

aha !!ok... can i order one too.. i mean the imac g5.. and you thought..!!!! :D

he said that he'd come to set it up for free if he got pizza like last time, but since it'll be too early to order pizza i just thought egg-in-a-nest would work.

you know, toast with a hole in the middle that you put an egg in and cook it in a pan.

edit: they cook better if you spread margarine on the bread before you put the hole in the middle (with a drinking glass).

geee..

hey.. therat..

thanks for the recipie.. didnt know.. will try this for breakfast tommorow.

all this.. while i wait my g5.

hehehe

cook until brown on one side then cook until brown on the other. the egg should be finished when both sides are brown, but it doesn't hurt to check.

When I went to summer sleep away camp (upstate NY) in the 70's, we called that Rocky Mountain toast. At least that's what the counselor who introduced it to us called it.

Great news, it's been a long wait for you!

Good to hear that Apple's finally shipping BTO units to Canadian resellers. It's been kind or ridiculous seeing them still trying to sell their iMac G4s, with not an iMac G5 in sight...

BT Module is the Delay

Someone mentioned that the 20" is now cut down to 1-2 weeks shipping time. So I went on Apple.com and just selected the base 20" (no add-on) and it says 1-2 weeks in the checkout page. Add on the BT module and it bumps it up to 2-3 weeks. I read a review about the imac BT module (strangely on the BT web-site) that indicated it wasn't all that it's cracked up to be. Something about the mouse moving sporadically, etc.

Interested in comments from everyone on this subject. Half tempted to place and order for an iMac without the BT module and then decide when I get the two what to do.

Time to go..

When TheRat gets his iMac, I guess I can safely leave this forum. I was waiting for a month myself before stumblng on stock in my local Apple store. Good luck to those of you still waiting. I know it doesn't help when someone says "it's worth the wait", but hang on in there.

Hopefully you will continue to post in this thread. You can be of encouragement to those that are waiting. Very happy that you now have your iMac.

Well since mine arrived some time ago I've been enjoying it non stop when I can in the evenings when I'm not working or playing with the kids.

The screen is still taking a lot of getting used too. I have a lot of real estate to play with compared to the 12" Powerbook I used to have.

The wife sure likes her new powerbook though :)

I've played a few games on it. Warcraft III, The Sims, and UT 2004 in single player mode. I finally got around to downloading the patch for UT so maybe I'll try some online fragging with the iMac.

Final Cut Express has me flabbergasted though, I've not been able to rip anything out of a camera and there are special steps to convert from iMovie to it that I've deemed 'not worth the effort' at this point. I've got one book and maybe when I'm on vacation and have lots of time to kill trying things out I'll figure it out. Definitely a few steps up from iMovie as far as useage.

All in all, very happy with my dead pixel free iMac 20" 250GB/1GB/BT/AEX system and I really feel for everyone that ordered theirs and haven't got it yet. Though I must say it is worth the wait.

Maybe I am not using mine as much as the person that reviewed it or something, but I have not had the problems with BT that he described.

I have never had the machine fail to recognize or pair with the mouse or keyboard.

I will say this though, when 'waking' the computer the keyboard responds quicker than the mouse. This is pretty much an always occurance. The mouse takes a second or two to come back to life after sleep. The keyboard is always right on it.

Other than that I have no complaints and even with that the benefits far out weigh waiting a second or two here and there.

But maybe since I am still an infant in the Mac world (first entered in April 04 and went completely Mac in Sept 04) I am still more forgiving than others as Windows is still far to fresh in my mind.

At long last got my shipping notice for BTO 20 inch. Actual config is IMAC20/1.8G5/1GB/250G/SD/APX/BTWLKB/X.

Should be here tomorrow!
