flextronics tracking

no that site didnt work for me either, but doesnt really matter anymore. no more checking that bloody tracking page!
and now apple want me to spend another 400 quid on a color ipod, it's just not fair, wages dont even touch my bank! who wants a well looked after, still in-date, 3rd generation ipod? anyone? didnt think so.

I found that the site doesn't display anything under Firefox but works well in IE.

That said, I didn't find the page to be particularly useful...

nnnnoooooooooooo....

johnny_v, mine is the same spec as yours but with 1GB of memory and it was ordered on the same day, the 8th.

I'll expect it Thursday then, which is damn typical as I have had two weeks off work but have to go in Thursday for the morning

I was hoping that I would get it tomorrow as I would think it may come into the Stansted hub as I am only about 15 minutes from the airport, but knowing the way these people operate it will probably be on the Outer Hebrides flight.

I'll post pics too if I can manage to stop drooling over it.

No I don't believe it. Andy mine is exactely the same spec as yours and ordered on the same day. Yesterday I phoned up and was told it would ship today or tomorrow. But this morning I wake up to my 4th delay email - 2nd of November...

I go away on 21st November for 6 weeks if it doesn't ship on the 2nd I am really going to have to cancel... So pissed off...

A 4th delay is bad. Sorry to hear that. Are you in the UK? You have to definately allow another 10 days after the status changes to 'Shipped' to get to your door, especially for Britain.

I guess it's difficult for a company to release an item that they keep secret and be able to judge initial demand, you can't blame them, but I was watching some programme on TV and Robbie Williams was singing his new single and in the background were 8, yes 8 20" iMacs as part of his stage act! Funny how they managed to get them and this was about a month ago....

Maybe I should change my name to Robbie Williams next time.

Yep, you're right it only seems to work under IE.

It's not particularly useful, but bridges the gap between it arriving at Flextronics and you can see that it's definately hanging around to go onto the TNT system.

Yep I'm in the UK - London.
Maybe I'll just have to cheer myself up with a new U2 iPod instead...

Hmmpf... My iMac also reached final destination at Kuehne + Nagel at 25 okt 04. But it hasn't showed up at TNT yet. Flextronics tracking page says "Pallet closed" yesterday at 13.20. Could it be the merging with AE and 40 gig iPod orders that are delaying me?

My order is:
IMAC20/1.8G5/1GB(2 dimm)/250G/SD/APX/BTWLKB/OS-H
AIRPORT EXPRESS
IPOD 40G

ordered on 09.09

Seems like you're ahead of me! Mine got its "Pallet closed" at 16:02. Mine also includes an AE unit.

This waiting is unbearable. Especially since it's very hard to understand the reasons to why it should take so long!

Yes, it is the not knowing that is so hard. Just hang in there, your patience will be rewarded.

:(

Just picked my 20" up(2x 512 MHz RAM) up from our local reseller in Sarasota, Fl.

Transferred all my stuff from my PB over (Target mode, so easy I still can't believe it quite, even after years as a Mac user), plugged in the Soundsticks and sub and then started watching "Eloise" with the kids. Ahhh, 1.8 GHz of Maccy goodness. No problems so far. None. Zero. Can't last......can it?

The two Sony Vaios are now, offficially, relegated to the kids room. Thank Gawd :D

By now you probably have better things to do than hang out here.

But mine turned up yesterday....

OOOOOhhh... very nice indeed.

The pictures do not do it justice. Elegant, silent, fast and surprisingly heavy.

Setting up my 12" iBook next to it makes the laptop seem tiny.

You are all in for a real treat. Hang in there !

Any Australians received their 20"imac

i read on the apple website posts that someone at apple said the australian ship date had been moved to nov 17... i'm hoping this isn't true... i'm 7 days away from my ship date.

macridah,

I ordered my BTO 20" at 6 AM on the morning they were announced, and have not received my e-mail either, but I do check it every 5 minutes . . .

I think that a lot of orders were placed by people who stayed up late in order to be first in line AND because the show was in Paris customers in the UK and Europe had a 5 - 8 hour head start on the business day.

I'm just afraid that Apple will fill orders for the standard models for a brief time (just to make sure production is going OK) before throwing the BTOs into the line.

My m8 ordered his 17" on sept 6th received it on oct 1st. the fact they never took the money out of my account for it, is another matter... (was ordered on my card for him)

SIGH.

I just got off the phone with a FedEx agent. The last update for my delivery was that it had gone through "Int'l shipment release" (customs, I think) in Memphis two days ago... then no updates. The estimated delivery on the FedEx site was for today at 12PM.

The woman on the phone basically said that my iMac is still in transit to come into Canada, and that once that happens, it still has to go through Canadian customs. Her quote? "The latest it could arrive is next Friday."

Now I know I should have paid for express shipping. :(

Well, you're right!

It arrived today, has the biggest box for a computer that is very thin and the box tells everyone in the street what's arriving in your home (handy if they want to steal it!).

As you said the thing that amazed me was the sheer weight of it, even the bluetooth keyboard is heavy, but very nice too. Everything hooked up to my AE base station very quickly and painlessly.

Very quiet, fast, no dead pixels and I'm extremely pleased, in fact I'm ecstatic.

Now I've just got to get to grips with OS X which at the moment seems very intuitive.

Must buy a bluetooth mouse with a scroll wheel though, it's annoying the hell out of me already.

Well, i really dont want to complain, but I've ordered my iMac 20"/BT/Airport at a local reseller the 2nd of september and it still hasn't arrived yet. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow i think i'll go crazy

No need to be upset. It is not likely at all that the iMac would be updated any time soon. Usually six months between updates. Maybe some time next Spring.

Well I've now had the dreaded email... OOB date was missed on Octoer 25th and now they're saying November 5th. When I phoned Apple I was told the hold up was due to internal bluetooth... ho hum.

Andy.

It probably is. I ordered my 20 inch on 27th Sept, original ship date was 26th Oct, and now it is 16th November. So if you ordered after 27th Sept you are definitely looking at a longer wait.

According to Apple.com Store, 17-inch iMacs now have a 5-7 day estimated ship time and and the 20-inchers have a 1-2 week ship time! Go there and check it out for yourself.

I'm stoked because I ordered myself a 20-incher with all the bells and whistles on Monday so hopefully I'll have mine in the next 10-14 days instead of 30+/- days.
