When did you order it?

Originally 31/8 although I had to cancel that order and put a new one through on 7/9 as the credit card details were wrong! As nothing but one digit changed the order may be tied back to the 31/8 date.

And you?

AT LAST

Waaahoo! after first ordering BTO 20" on 3rd of August I reluctantly went through the ritual of checking my order status for the zillionth time and OMG it finally says it's shipped ,still can't beleive it's true ,still have'nt received order or shipping confirmation emails  BTW any Brits know how to track orders on TNT I've got a 16 and 20 digit # (20 digit takes you to Apples tracking page which shows the 16 digit # neither works on TNT's tracking page  any help will be appreciated ;)

the number you need begins with 80.... but just use the first 10 numbers.

goto http://www.apecode.com/appletrack/ and enter the number click track. there you can track it at the first stage. onced it arrives in the UK (take about 9-10 days) click on the 80... number from that tracking page, the link will then transfer you to TNT traking but, TNT traking will not work untill it is in the UK.

Longest wait yet?

Here's my entry for the longest delivery wait so far. Not sure if I'll "win" but it all seems worth it now looking at the iMac on my desk. Details follow:

1) August 31, 8 pm MDT ordered stock 20" iMac G5 through Apple Canada Edu store
2) September 30 received delay notice giving new OOB of November 2
3) October 19, received shipping notification
4) October 25, delivered to my father in-law's as he is home during the day
5) October 30, drove 300 km to father in-law's to pick up computer

Steps 4 and 5 are because of Apple Canada's stupid policy of not allowing one to pickup machines from the Fedex depot. Overall, that would be almost exactly a two month wait between ordering and finally using the iMac. Here's wishing no one else has the crummy experience of bettering this record.

So is there anyone here who ordered a dual 2.5 when they were first announced and still not received it yet?

anyone in australia

apple just advised there's been a chemical spill at the melbourne depot and all deliveries have been delayed... mine just shipped on 30/10/04 so i guess that means i'll wait just a little longer.

:(

Hi, After I received mine to the UK I set up a .mac page detailing the delivey stages its at http://homepage.mac.com/universallyaccepted/PhotoAlbum4.html hope it helps you.

Chris

Ordered around the 1st or 2nd of September (maybe the 3rd -- let's be generous here). It's now the 1st of November here in the Land of Oz.

I'm still waiting.

Time for me to call Apple and raise merry hell, I'm thinking. Two months is well and truly beyond what I'd consider fair and acceptable. Note that I'm blaming Apple Australia, not my reseller, who's at the mercy of A.A.

what is your config?

Stock twenty inch: 160 GB HDD, 256 MB RAM, no bluetooth module. Or in other words: go to the Apple store, select the iMac, select the 20" model, and you have the system I ordered right there in front of you.

Cancelled.

Rang the reseller. No 20" iMacs have hit Australia yet, and there's absolutely no word from Apple Australia about when they're likely to. Considering that I'm entering into a mortgage in less than a month; that it's been at least two months since I made the order; and since I'm unlikely to get any concessions out of Apple in return for the delay, I've cancelled my order.

There's two and a half grand off the mortgage right there. If they'd shipped 'em a little sooner, sure, but frankly, I have better things to do with my money than hang around and wait.

You should take some slow deep breaths prior to you call. Being pleasant but firm will get you a better result. Just clearly state your problem. If your not satisfied ask for a supervisor.

And fair enough too! I just wonder when Apple are ever going to ship something on time

OT: "something" did, I order a personalized iPod Photo about an hour after the Apple online store (us) went online. ship OOB Nov 9th. It shipped Oct 28th...to my HUGE surprise :p . Waiting for my 20" BT AE... ordered about 3 weeks earlier :(

I forgot to mention: I still have my PowerBook, and never had any intention of selling it, either. Just means that I'll be playing Railroad Tycoon on the laptop, rather than on the iMac. :D

The really fun part is, what with the mortgage and all, I'm unlikely to be buying new computer hardware for at least two or three years now. The lapdog will serve very nicely for the foreseeable future, and in terms of games, well, I have my GameCube to keep me happy (Pikmin 2 on Thursday! Yay!) Apple's managed to cheat themselves out of a good couple of big ones because of the delay.

Oh, well. It is Officially No Longer My Problem. :D

Said it before, I'll say it again. Love the hardware. Love the software. Loath the business execution.

melbourne 20" shipped

i ordered mine on the 07 oct '04 and i got a est ship date of 04 nov '04.
it shipped on 30 oct 04 and should be here on wednesday and i'm tracking it on the star track express website.

FYI
i ordered the 20" 1gb 160gb ae bt+wireless key board. the difference between sjl, nursers and i is that i ordered directly from apple by phone (didn't go to reseller). i'm in melbourne.

perhaps the reseller is giving you the runaround. cause apple have been clear and accurate telling me when mine would arrive, and if i receive mine this week, like they said, then the service will have been flawless (apart from the fact that it took 4 weeks to begin with.

I doubt it. I very much doubt it. This reseller has been nothing but exemplary when it comes to my dealings with him: he's bent over backwards to help me out with repairs under warranty, and to keep me informed about various hassles I've had.

Case in point: my PowerBook developed the well-known white spots problem. He took my system's serial number, ordered in the part from Apple, and only took my laptop in for repair when the part actually arrived. Total time the laptop was out of service was less than a day.

Apple is notorious for taking care of their direct customers first, and only when they've finished sorting out their direct orders do they start looking at their resellers (maybe not that bad, but it's pretty bloody close.) If my reseller had any sort of information about the arrival of the system, he would have told me; of that I'm certain. He didn't, hence I felt I had no alternative but to cancel the order. I won't be ordering directly from Apple, so Apple loses out; the reseller loses out; ...

The other thing is: you're receiving your iMac after about four weeks. I had reached eight, and I was still waiting. When Apple Australia was initially quoting around 4-6 weeks for shipping, 8 weeks with not a single peep from them to the reseller is UNACCEPTABLE.
