hey guys, how many of you have received an e-mail notification from apple shipping ,i mean i ordered on october 4th a 20" /BTWKM/airport card and i haven't received the note, the estimated shipping is on nov. 5th ,just 3 days away, :(

Mine shipped!

Hi all. Ordered a 20"/AE/1 gig/BT on 10/07/04 at 9:16AM PST. Got a shipping notice today at 4:23AM. (My OOB date was 11/05/2004) Due here on the 8th. Weird thing is that FedEX says it shipped from China but the billing statement says it shipped from Elk Grove, CA. Maybe they are sending me two since I'm such a nice guy.

Good luck and the next few days are going to drag... I can feel it.

iReilly

Soon to have an iMac :p

It's not looking good...

Anyone else in the UK with a OOB 2nd received shipping notification yet? :(

I've been having exactly the same story- 3 delay emails 18th Oct, 22nd Oct, and 2nd Nov. Today I was told by after sales that the shipping department had informed them that it was the bluetooth module (20"imac with AE and BT/Keyboard+Mouse) that was holding up the delivery but that it should ship by the end of the week. I'm not holding my breath and if I have heard nothing by Friday I'm going to ask to speak to a supervisor and give them some grief. The shipping dates seem to be pulled out of a hat!

great products :D - shame about the after sales support! :(

I sorry to hear about your three delays. In this case you should receive some compensation. Just try to be positive and respectful when you make your call. Just wonder why Apple hasn't learned its lesson yet.

edit: talked to my father and he told me it has arrived, so ill got pick it whit him fryday :) not bad for a BTO 20" ordered around the 28 of september :p sorry for all of you who ordered it in septemer and are still waiting

An update on the Aussie side - my credit card was billed overnight so i rang Apple (as my ship date wasn't meant to be until 16th November) and was told that my exact configuration had luckily arrived two days ago and that I should expect to receive mine by end of this week. That'll make it 10 days or so after original OOB date.

What's Apples status on charging cards?

I ordered mineyesterday, the OOB date is nov 23rd, but my card has already been charged - is this an indication of anything?

I think I better phone Apple today :D

Just phoned apple

Person I spoke to had no idea what was going on. Said they'd phone me back, yeah right...

I bet all the UK iMacs are going to stock the new London flagship store opening in 2 weeks. What do you think?

Hey Hannah,

I dont know what's up with yours - maybe you should kick up a fuss - ask to speakt o a supervisor or something..

I phoned Apple and the guy just told me that my iMac that I ordered yesterday (17", 1.8Ghz, BT mouse/keyb/module) is being assembled, and it will ship next week to reach me the week after.

Is yours a BTO? If not, maybe you could cancel your order and then go to a retail store and buy it?

Hope you get your iMac soon :)

hooooooorayyyy, i just ordered from my local apple store
1gig 20' i-mac, 250hd, the whole wireless stuff as well as for my old i-mac, new office and headset for skype - delivery frame 2-3 weeks.
i dont mind - but u know what ? the store was 20% cheaper than apple store via internet. goes to show a little wait can mean nice savings :)))

Yeah – IMAC20/1.8G5/1GB/160G/SD/APX/BTWLKB/B ordered on Sept 8th.
I tried making a fuss a couple of weeks back - I was just told I was in the same boat as 'lots of other people' - maybe that's why they pushed me down the queue ? :(

i ordered mine on oc. 4th and nothing yet ,has anyone gotten the email confirmation of a 20" BTOWKM/airport card?

If you haven't heard anything from Apple by Friday, you should give them a call. Hopefully you receive that golden message before then.

Dont call ever to modify your apple order

here is my sad story. As i told u .. Apple Store in Denver is doing the customised
20 inch Bluetooth airport express 512 ram combo for 2189.05 ( after student discount). So i called in to check and see if i could change my weborder placed on the 20th of October and add an extra 256 ram to the config. I tell the lady if she could check that if i could change the order whithout affecting the ship date.

guess what she does.. puts me on hold for like 15 minutes .. comes back on and says " i have cancelled your order" so that you can put a new order in the with the sales and let me put u thru sales"..

I asked her again which part of my request did she not understand and she said there was nothing that could be done about it now...

So much for trying to change the order...!!!

I was like ok.. thanks for screwing me.

i will just patiently wait till the stores order more of the 20inch BT combo..

thanks

Getting frustrated with the wait..like all of you guys

Yo all,
I am a newly converted Mac user, well just bought a 12" G3 700 mhz ibook, nothing too flash but i love it for what it does, its battery life and portability and of course i much prefer the Panther platform to XP.
But i do need something with more power and the new imac G5 20" looks very attractive and i do want to get it. But here in the Uk the delivery time is back upto 2-3 weeks and reading some of your guys frustration i am getting concerned it will be more like a month or more and i am not really willing to wait that long for my computer.
I do have some extra funds so getting a new Powermac 1.8 ghz (single) and a new 20" display (or old 23" display) would be possible. i could even stretch to a dual 1.8 ghz and settle for an old 20" screen. Where do you guys think i should go? Are the new screens much better than the old ones? And for not that intense applications will i notice that much increase in power to a dual 1.8 ghz?
OR should i wait and get the 20" imac G5?
choices, choices! For the moment i won't be using that many hungry app's - iphoto/word/excel/browsing a bit of film editing/garageband, but in the future i can see myself using logic 7/maybe idvd and some kind of graphics program.
Would appreciate your guys views

I had the same experience (Apple Store UK online) except I asked about the bluetooth option (I was a bit confused about why it said I had no bluetooth option when I'd ordered a wireless keyboard and mouse) not only did she cancel my BTO iMac she cancelled everything else as well (digital tv reciever,dvd/cd writer, analogue to digital converter etc...) my original OOB was 20/09/04 now its 18/10/04(I know ,its way past that date) its still in Shanghai but booked on a flight tomorrow 04/11/04
Good luck getting yours ,as I have had no luck with mine

Welcome to the Mac fold. There is no going back to the dark side now.

I have a new 20" iMac which I use at home and an old DP G4 that I use at work. Its true that the iMac is fast and should be more than enough for what you want to do. However, OS X runs much better and more smoothly on a DP machine. I would say that in terms of finder responsiveness my DP 533MHz G4 is probably the same as the 1.8GHz iMac. Maybe even slightly better when you have a dozen applications open and are switching back & forth.
Given the significantly higher price of a SP 1.8 Powermac+20"screen v. the 1.8GHz iMac I would go for the iMac. Its also neater and quieter and looks great. HOWEVER, if funds stretch to a DP machine then this is the way to go... DP is a wonderful thing and you become just that bit more future proof. With the impending proliferation of dual core processors it wont be an impossibly long time before software comes to expect two processors.

Either way you'll get a great computer.
