A lot of posters really need to think a little bit before they post instead of writing the first negative comment that pops into their head. You give Mac users a bad name, and come across as eye-rolling, mouth frothing fanatics.

Next!

But really... what is with that taken out dent for the headphone jack??? Obviously I understand the purpose, but can we say HIDEOUS??? :p

These things are direct competitors with Apple products, and nobody competes like Microsoft. Being targeted by them is like being declared war on by the United States- you CAN'T ignore it.

I get the competition part but this isn't real yet! they should report on it when it comes out or it is confirms. If they are gona report on every small thing that ms does that somehow competes with apple, they should just change the name of the site

You morons, read the article. Microsoft didn't design it. They aren't manufacturing it. They're re branding an OEM product, loading on their software and apparently plan on marketing it to teens.

They haven't themselves copied Palm. And they're not aiming for a high-price phone like the iPhone.

Same thing happened with the first gen Zune: it was basically a rebranded Toshiba Gigabeat. My guess is while Microsoft is working on these products, it has others in R&D that will be more original designs.

And for the most part, companies copy from each other. To think that they wouldn't copy successful ideas is silly. It's not about doing a particular implementation first, but the best. And if it were really that important, it would be patented in some way (yay for the silly US Patent System!!!)

It seems like they have a very nice piece of hardware with the Zune HD, along with a unique looking interface and desktop software integration. Why not extend that to a Zune Phone, like the iPod Touch is to the iPhone? Open up the Zune Marketplace and boom. Seems really obvious. Could even be successful. So I wonder why they bother with these silly projects (but then, Apple DID try the Motorola ROKR iTunes thing).

I normally get upset when people hate on Microsoft just because we like Apple. This phone looks terrible. I just don't understand why companies bother to come out with crap...it seems like a good product always has one thing that holds it back from being great, but in this case they shouldn't have even bothered (just by the looks of it).

microsoft FAIL.

I don't know who's going to file more patent infringement claims: Palm or Apple.

And it looks exactly like a Palm Pre.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

yet ANOTHER post that has nothing to do with "mac rumors".

MacRumors is becoming another Record Town...RT stopped selling "records" in like 1987. MacRumors stopped posting rumors about Macs in 2007.

Complaining about iPhone related content on MacRumors is so 2008.

The turtle looks the best out of the two.

Form is one thing and function is another.

But, then again the form is terrible and if it is running Windows its bound to fail in function.

Way to go MS! :D

Development code names usually don't make it to the retail counter, except for intel.

Whether or not the iphone has 2 or 10 years on any phone, it means the talent pool is larger to pick from.
I would bet there are some key developers of the iphone itching to express their talents to any company that is willing to not be less restrictive on the user interface and experieince.

So what happened with all of Apple's patents on the iPhone interface? You know, from the original intro, "And boy have we patented it!"

At least it has a landscape keyboard, unlike the Pre.

I can still hear Steve Ballmer laughing about the cost of the iPhone. I wonder what this will retail for?

I like it<

I think we some more phone forms , they all look like iphones these days, or is that all form follows function.

Well... there is always this great Microsoft innovation:

Did anybody actually buy this? I know an MS employee that got one for free.

These new phones should be pretty sweet too.
