Agree.

I donno what is my ETF in this case, I got this 32GB phone for $549, not the full discount, so what is the EFT in this case? $200?

I will contact at&t tonight and find out.

EDIT: Just to answer my own question.

I got $200 discount because I am a year into the contract, so in my case, my smartphone termination fee is 325 - (10(per month) x13months) = $195.

It is expensive but at least I am out of contract and I can jump whenever Tmobile is good in my area.

I am sick of this locked-phone game.

swift unlocks

mine still says this on swift unlocks:

Product [WE ARE NOT TAKING NEW ORDERS NOW] AT&T IPHONE
IMEI xxxxxx00xxxxx

Status Processing

i believe they are part of unlock fusion so if the refunds from unlock fusion have started, these would start too.. i'm leaning more towards chronic and i device guys, sam is a lil cheaper at $95 and I found some sektchy unlocks on gsm forums charging $80 which i don't trust just because of the current situation now.. the last thing i want is more money being tied up

I would like to dispel some of the rumors and misinformation going around.

I talked to Att last night at 1 am and got 3 iPhone 5c unlocked within 8 hours.

It's not taking them 14 days by any means.

Can you give more details? I though they dont unlock the phone until 2years contract is over?

As it's been said many times. If your account is good standing you are nice with them it just depends on you talk to. In my case they filed a case told me it would be max by November 4th and it was done early this morning. On 2 of my 5 they need proof of purchase to fax before unlocking those.

At this point it looks like if you want an unlocked iPhone then it's best to just buy one from Apple that is already unlocked or get the Verizon model. If you're an AT&T customer then just request the unlock from them.

I guess my account is not that great... 5 years with at&t...

I will try to call them again tonight.

Will try again soon I guess. My accounts 4.5 months old, I've tried to unlock my iPhone about 6 times so far with only answer as "rejected" I'm a prepaid customer so online chat isn't an option and got my iPhone on a family members account that is less than 2 years old.

They did open a case for me multiple times saying they will have their "unlock department" process the request if it's approved. Waited 2-4 days the last 3 times and then the rejection email came in. The guys were very helpful tho so can't say I didn't get nice people.

AT&T is laying the smack down and closing all access to those 3rd party grey market IMEI unlockers.
It might still be possible later or maybe not. But the way it is now its very hard, takes a long time and its very expensive. Up to $100-120 per unlock.

Damn, so the only way at this point to have an AT&T unlocked device is either ponying up full retail or leaving the contract (after 2yrs or ETF).

Oh well, I'm not affected.

i have 8 iphone 4 witch is out of contart how i can unlock it now without accaunt at&t ? May be somebody can help me ?

Just called AT&T for 2 iPhone 5S'. I called 611 from my phone, and went to technical support. I explained to the lady we paid full price and she gave me her email address to send a picture of the receipt which showed the IMEI numbers, my name, ect. She put in a 'case' to their 'unlock team' for each phone, and said she put in the notes they are 100% eligible to be unlocked.

She did explain they have taken away all access to everyone for the most part, and all unlock requests that can't be completed through their 'unlock portal' have to be vetted then sent further up. They are basically going to review each case that can't be done through the portal. In my situation the unlock portal denied my IMEI as soon as I typed it in. I had to stay on the phone for about 45 minutes with her. If you get someone who says no, like we got when I got our first set of phones, just call back as long as you meet the eligibility requirements. Some people are just lazy, and won't take the time to help customers with legit unlock requests because they have to type out a case for each device and send it up.

Once the case is submitted it takes up to 3 days.

Hi Belmont31R,

If you paid in full price anyway, why didn't you request for the official unlock through at&t website?

Just a quick question; if I purchased my last phone as a subsidized one /4s, day of release), does it count now as a "paid in full"? I'm trying to get it unlocked thru AT&T and keep getting the message "We cannot complete your request for one of the following reasons: If you are under contract you must complete the contract period..., If you are a GoPhone customer... or If you paid full price for your AT&T device and are a post-paid customer you must have at least 60 days of service w/AT&T". I've been with AT&T since they went by PacBell Cellular. Think that counts as being a customer for more than 60 days. Any thoughts? Am I going to continue to get the run-around on this? I was supposed to get a call-back today with more info, but I am still waiting.

I see, I will try the chat-trick with my luck tonight...

GL everyone...

I have learned... next year, either buy the unlocked version and even jump ship to Tmobile...

As soon as I put in the IMEI red letters popped up saying this device cannot be unlocked.

We snagged two gold phones as soon as we could today. Carrier locked but looks like AT&T is taking care of it. I'd have preferred to buy device only from Apple but I've seen 2 gold phones since launch, and both were 3 1/2 hours away. I tried to buy Verizon versions, since the Best Buy had those, too, but they wouldn't sell them to me without an active Verizon account. Stupid. I'm sick of the whole carrier locking and BS.

Just got an email from unlock fusion that they're going to process a refund
This is the same company as swift unlocks

Big shame

r-sim

just as a side note.. r-sim is crap don't waste your time on it... got r sim 9 pro.. t mobile showed up for 5 sec with lte siganl and now its keeps on searching.. not reliable at all..

Exactly.
Some reps just want to get you off the phone and make up bs excuses why they cant help you.
If you find a rep like that who wont even try don't bother arguing. Just say thank you, hang up and call to talk to someone better hopefully.
