there is a limit on the number of requests per imei but i think its the number submitted in a time period and it resets.. maybe like 5 per week or two weeks for same ime because on one of my phones after requesting and unlock 5 or six times, honestly don't remember, i did get an automatic message along the lines of that too many unlock requests have been submitted for this imei.

5 per year per account

I had problems also getting unlocks done through a local 3rd party vendor. On the 5th day of waiting he returned my money. after reading previous post on here, i found sam from unlocksam and he seem to have a pretty good track record. i got my wifes phone unlocked within 3 hrs of submitting my order right before prices jumped up. Hes pretty reliable, i would give him a try onces his services are back up and running. I have an account with att as well but they would grant me the unlock since i had purchased the iphone from someone else and i didnt have the phone number associated with the phone. i spoke to different ppl and i also did their online tech chat everyone one gave me a different story.

Do you have any experience with www.cellcityunlockers.net ?
That website is - I'm sorry - but pretty much a cr*p. I registered to be able to place any order but users need credits for that. I contacted the guy Mr. Sudhir Ghai (who provides actually his Skype, whatsapp etc) and after emailing for a while, he said that "Yes.working smooth atnt 1-4 days", and that he could top up my balance, once I transfer money on PayPal.
Unfortunately he is kinda like my last hope, nobody else can work out any unlock for ATT iPhones.

not sure but lots of these sites are cropping up. I ordered from daxgsm.com. not sure if anyone has heard of him as well. I paid and after all the communication he is gone quiet. now i'm in the hope against hope.

My brother gave me his old iphone 4s bc he got the new one. I have t-mobile but att won't unluck because they said he hasn't had it long enough?? But he had the phone for over 2 years. The phone is sitting here, not being used and I'm using an old blackberry with missing buttons :( What did you say to get them to unlock, Belmont?? Thanks.
If your brother is on AT&T, he might be having the same problem I was. For whatever reason, the system was confusing my attempts to unlock my old outgoing 4s with me trying to unlock the 5s I had just gotten last month. Once the last chat tech processed my request the correct way, I got my approved email the following morning. Looks like all I need to do now is do the backup/log-in thing with it & I'm golden.

Unfortunately I'm not a customer of AT&T, I bought the Iphone from a private seller. Is unlockiphonevip.com considered reliable? I'm willing to pay 90$ but I'm afraid of being deceived, Has anyone used their services recently? Can they really unlock the 5s at this time?

Thanks!

Did you finally use their service? Are they legit? No option to use PayPal there...

All of these unlocking sites have strict refund policies. I would hate to lose $100. I give up trying to unlock my iPhone 5. I'm going to sell it and buy the Nexus 5. The Nexus 5 is priced reasonably ($349 no contract) and comes unlocked! Screw AT&T and Apple.

Amen to that ! Nexus here I come ! :)

These crazy prices are nothing more than regular folks using accounts to unlock people's phones

That wouldn't work as 5S is just out and the account won't work. I called AT&T and spoke to a supervisor and she plain blank refused. She even apologized and offered to add a month free of discounted international roaming. :)

In addition, AT&T will unlock any AT&T Mobile Device for an active and deployed member of the military who is a current AT&T customer in good standing and is able to provide AT&T with deployment verification.

So, I got my unlock approval from AT&T but I'm in a quandry now. I was told to just back up the device, then do a restore & it'll be unlocked. Only issue I'm running into now is the fact that when I go to click 'Restore iPhone', it gives me a 'Restore and Update' or a Cancel prompt. I want to keep iOS7 off of this thing since it's currently JB'd. What am I missing?

no problem you can go to settings and do a network reset and it will unlock the phone without you doing the iTunes restore.

Anyone with ATT account willing to help me unlock an old Iphone 3gs I got off Ebay? Traveling this weekend and that would help alot. thanks! (would be willing to pay a small fee for your time.)

let me know if this post is inappropriate and I'll delete it.

Ditto. Send me a PM if interested.

With the WiFi turned on I assume...

edit - So, does "Not Available" under Network mean it's unlocked now?

Other options:
- Register on imei.info and you will be able to check the lock status of your phone by entering your imei number.
- Borrow a friend's T-mobile sim and put it in your phone.

That's true. My maid has her son in the military and has AT&T. Wonder if he will help me. I miss the $2 unlocks. :(

Has anyone successfully unlocked their at&t 5s in the past week?

Not sure what the problem is there. The allowed unlock conditions are right on their website. If you meet the criteria it should be unlocked. Maybe I just got extremely lucky but the rep I spoke to was really nice, and we were on the phone a while. She even apologized about the wait time while she was typing up the 'cases'. I said no problem..just playing with the new phones we got and making sure all my settings are right. I almost always use the Apple EarPods on calls like this so I can play with the phone instead of speaker or holding it to my ear the entire time.

I also think its 5 unlocks per year. I don't think its a limit on requests.

Are they unlocking in-contract iPhone 5s (not iPhone 5) over the phone?
I know that some AT&T reps are so full of $#1+ and yesterday, I was informed that they do not accept unlock requests over the phone anymore and the only option is the AT&T website. The website states 'Currently, this device cannot be unlocked'. I don't mind calling AT&T again, but I'd like to know if someone has recently gotten an in-contract iPhone 5s unlocked by AT&T over the phone.
