That's true. My maid has her son in the military and has AT&T. Wonder if he will help me. I miss the $2 unlocks. :(

Has anyone successfully unlocked their at&t 5s in the past week?

Isn't there a military exemption where they unlock in contract phones?

Are they unlocking in-contract iPhone 5s (not iPhone 5) over the phone?
I know that some AT&T reps are so full of $#1+ and yesterday, I was informed that they do not accept unlock requests over the phone anymore and the only option is the AT&T website. The website states 'Currently, this device cannot be unlocked'. I don't mind calling AT&T again, but I'd like to know if someone has recently gotten an in-contract iPhone 5s unlocked by AT&T over the phone.

I doubt they will unlock a subsidized phone. Mine were bought outright but not at an Apple store.

They told me they won't do it over the phone, but there have been posts on here indicating otherwise. Do we need to call a certain department, or just keep trying til we get someone who is reasonable?

I have an iPhone5 that is still on contract and the website seems to accept its IMEI for the unlock request. However, I already had the phone unlocked by unlock fusion about a year ago.

I would try calling again or try the website again in a few weeks.

Mine was done via their online chat system, but that was only after I was denied three times via their unlock portal. Oh, and thank you to a4cab03 & your recomendation on imei.info. Signed up, ran the number & I am golden.

They still review the unlock requests people submit through the portal. Just because it accepts the IMEI doesn't mean the request will be accepted.

Stay away from this seller" Irescueunlocks aka Marcus Hackney
They scammed my friend and stole $900 from them. My friend submitted 9 different imeis for their express service 1-60 min last tues for $95. He promised express service, after she made payment, ATT crashes according to him. So they will try again tomorrow. He told her there were issues with the IMEIS that he could either refund her or try again but you have to be quick to catch the "source" She agreed to try again. Thursday came and he said that the imeis were flagged, they were ran 8 times each. And there are no refunds!! He claimed his "boss"won't allow him to refund. That they get charged alot to unlock and since they ran the numbers 8 times, they will be the ones to pay the price? But he had a solution, he would offer a partial refund of whatever he made that week. Really?! Why pay for a service, not get it and agree to get some of your money back?!? He said they only give refunds if sources refund them. If sources don't refund we can't. Saying that they lost double of what she lost because "their source" charged them double the $900 for running all those numbers. She filed a paypal claim and lost because paypal does not protect against virtual goods/intangible items. This was a hard lesson for her, but I want to spread the word for her. Be weary of this seller, he got away with $900. And now he's spreading his lies that the IMEIS she had were from stolen phones. That is total BS. I'd be happy to share those imeis with anyone and show they are not stolen. THIS SELLER IRESCUEUNLOCKS aka Marcus Hackney is the SCAMMER. BUYERS BEWARE. If anybody has fallen victim to any of these unlock sites, please inform us. We need to take these scammers down!

I can verify that what this person wrote is complete crap. Chronic and Hackiphone are both attempting to undermine irescueunlock's business. I've used irescue for a ton of my unlocks in the previous weeks. What Chronic and @Hackiphone did was they submitted about 900 dollars worth of blacklisted imei's to irescue. Big surprise that it's a new user who's only post is throwing another unlocker under the bus. Don't believe me? Look at the conversation on twitter that took place between @hackiphone and @irescueunlocks. Chronic and hackiphone have the highest prices and are first to raise prices. There's plenty of others that are more reliable and just nicer guys. Both take more than they can handle and VERY often have delays. Besides that, they charge a lot more than anyone else for other unlocks. For instance, chronic charges 35 bucks for an lg unlock. Others? Less than 10. HTC? 45 dollars. Others charge 6-10.

Please shop around before doing an unlock through either of those guys. I can vouch for irescue. Also, I've used unlockwithsam plenty and he's a good guy and a VERY reliable unlocker.

Does it really matter that you can vouch for that irescue?
This is your only one post in MR , your vouch has no power here.

I'll vouch for irescueunlocks as well. Everything the guy above said is true. I did about 15 through irescue. I did an additional 4 that he couldn't get done. He refunded me same day without me asking. Check out the twitter convo if you don't believe what akoh said.

That's the thing, he did offer a refund the very same day. Irescueunlocks said " Server literally crashed in 20 minutes for the 3rd time today. I can either send the $900 back or I can keep the orders so as soon as it comes back online it'll still be done in express unlock. Let me know, att is falling apart. When it's online we have to catch it quick. Let me know" She agreed with him to try again. Thats when things changed. Wednesday comes around and he asks "Do you have sims ready to go" She asked why and he said to activate phones. Wed night came by and so far nothing. She messaged him asking the status and if they haven't been unlocked, to just cancel the order. He came back and said "submitted all" "can't cancel my guy will charge me" Later on the day he says " my guy said some problems with the IMEIs figuring it out now. His reasoning was that it could either be barred IMEI or att won't allow. That tighter security they're actually checking the amount of time the phone was on att now, like always i will keep you updated. So she waited, thurs night comes around and that's when he said att is flagging all your IMEIs for some reason, ran them 8 times, blah blah. And that his boss won't allow him to issue a full refund because of their policy.

She is not scheming with some other unlock sites to trash this guy. She is truly a victim. None of her phones are stolen, she got the ones she bought off ebay checked out. Those are clean, the other phones are from her att account which are also clean.
You had a great experience with that guy, but sadly she got scammed. She lost $900 for what?! The only reason hackiphone is mentioned is because she tried his services and if he couldn't get them unlocked, he immediately refunded her back. We have all the proof that shows these phones were not stolen, there was no service provided. Paypal is a lost cause, next step would be police. Somebody has to take down these guys that take advantage of innocent victims.

We never had an experience like this. Seeing as how this same story was told a week ago by hackiphone on twitter, we now know who "rainluver" really is. I have paypal receipts showing I bought from him.

Oh and try to find one other complaint about irescue. I'm not irescue, go on twitter for proof. Try finding complaints on these other guys....shouldn't be too hard.

I am glad my friend shared my story with you guys. I was in fact scammed by this irescueunlocks guy. The last thing he said to me was "We want to thank you for hackiphone tweets & people criticizing us because your IMEIs came up stolen. Enjoy your evening and good luck with the phones.

Below are 3 of the IMEIs that I submitted to him that he claimed were "stolen"
They came back clean. I know the other 6 I submitted to him are clean because they are on my att account. I already removed the lines from my account, will pay the etf fees in december. Figured I couldn't wait that long to unlock them so I went to this guy. BIG MISTAKE. Now I am out $900. And he's spreading lies that they are stolen.

If your brother is on AT&T, he might be having the same problem I was. For whatever reason, the system was confusing my attempts to unlock my old outgoing 4s with me trying to unlock the 5s I had just gotten last month. Once the last chat tech processed my request the correct way, I got my approved email the following morning. Looks like all I need to do now is do the backup/log-in thing with it & I'm golden.

Nahh, I thought that too and said to the reps a few times that "he is using his iphone 5 and I would like his old 4s unlocked please." I hate at&t.

I love how this guys goes from "my friend" in this and previous posts to "I'm out 900 dollars." Then a new account is out claiming to be the "real" hackiphone. These are the same guy and are trying to undermine someone's business. If you're gonna lie keep the perspective the same.
I'm not sure what posting pictures of imei's does. I can do that all day. Doesn't prove anything

Yes, you are right. The demand is too high so that the few suppliers that can still unlock it can raise the prices sky high. I am working on a solution, but it is not ready yet. $100 is definitely way too much and it is almost a crime :)

I see you offer an unlocking service for 89 right now. How long are you averaging?

Exactly.
First thing I did when I got a new iphone under contract or someone in my family got a new one was to pay the $2-3 and get it unlocked.
It was cheap, easy and fast.
Now, forget it:(

I used to buy at&t warranty phones on craigslist and then get them changed with apple and unlock for $1.50. That was fun. My inlaws all have iphone that way. Now its my dad who wanted an iPhone and this is going on.
