If anyone is wondering, I went to my local Apple store this evening and they had a list on their iPads with the 6S reservations for tomorrow. I was reserved at 4:00 tomorrow just as my confirmation screen had said on pre-order night but I never did get an email (even after I checked spam/etc).

Were there a lot of reservations for each time?

Not sure if this has been answered yet, but i have a 8am reservation. Lets say i get there at 7:45 and there is 100 people in line for reservations. Does that mean i still have to wait at the back of the line or do i get to wait at the Beginning of the line to be let in with the first batch of people? My first Instore launch day.

I wonder if I can use an AT&T shared upgrade and start AT&T next tomorrow at the Apple Store.

No you can not start a "Next" plan at Apple. YOu have to already be on Next to upgrade through Apple. i tried last year and had to do with ATT.

You will be last in the 8:00 - 8:30 group but ahead of anyone else with a reservation. There will probably be 2 lines, you will want to make sure you check in with your reservation.

This is not true. Last year, I upgraded my 5S to a 6Plus using Next. The 6Plus was my first Next device on my line. I preordered through Apple.com for launch day delivery.

Well i don't know how you did it. MY local ATT store told me i couldn't. I was coming off a 2 year agreement and switching to next and they made me do it through them...

Thanks man, i am hoping this way is better then waiting for tracking numbers and my delivery guy all day long. Getting a phone at 8am sounds perfect. I also made a 8:30 reservation as backup. Some lucky sole will be happy i made 2 and am only getting one phone....

At least at the local apple stores near me in Canada, if you made a reservation at anytime even later in the day, you can still come in at any time even earlier - form door opening to closing.

He's right, you can absolutely do NEXT either at an Apple Store or via the online store.

One thing he did say what that they'd be splitting the reservation line between those needing activations with their provider, and those buying an unlocked phone saying that unlocked phones will be dealt with much quicker.

This part confuses me.

I use AT&T's service. I am no longer under any sort of contract with them, but they are my carrier and I'm happy to continue with AT&T.

I'm getting an iPhone 6s on launch day via the Apple Upgrade Program.

I'm under the impression that all iPhones sold tomorrow need to be "activated."

I'm also under the impression that all iPhones being sold through the Apple Upgrade Program are unlocked.

So will I be in the "requires provider activation" line, or the "buying unlocked" line?

You will be in requires activation, because you have to activate in store for the program. Buying full price unlocked you can leave the store without doing anything. I doubt its different lines though.

I did the same thing 9-9:30 and 9.30-10. There will be a lucky guy waiting to take the empty spot.

I see. Thanks.

So, because I have to activate in-store when signing up for Apple Upgrade...and because I use AT&T, does that mean I'll definitely be getting the A133 model?

EDIT: Now I just read somewhere that if you enroll in the Apple Early Upgrade Program, you can just pop in the SIM card from your current phone and get going - no mention of activation.

I can't believe how confusing this is.

The two lines are for reservations, and not reservations. That's been made clear in a number of articles, etc on how the process will work. You can buy an unlocked phone and activate it...those two things are not mutually exclusive.

I think Apple is keeping some of those deliberately vague so that the store employees have some leeway to handle different circumstances that may come up.

Not sure how that is going to be. In my case, I'm doing the same thing, but upgrading from a 4S. So dropping in the SIM card from that phone will work.

BL.

Yes, thats your best bet, pop your sim in there, it turns on and you're good to go.

It's quite busy in Hamburg but thankfully reservations go fairly quickly. Was a bit tricky to find the right line as the security people didn't know much but in the end all went well. 45m wait roughly.

Ok I just finished picking up my reservation. I arrived about 40 minutes early. I approached one of the staff and asked which queue I needed to be in and he directed me to the one for reservations. There were about 4 people in front of me. Someone came and asked my name straight away and checked it off against the list. I waited for about 1 minute and then they said I know your appointment isn't for another 45 minutes but we can see you now. And that was it went into the store pulled out the phone, I paid and left. I was in there less than 10 minutes from checking in to paying and walking out. They didn't even ask to see my ID. It was super efficient.

Very easy process. Just get signed in and they dealt with those whose allocated times slot it was. If it was not your time then you had to wait basically unless no queues. There was one for in store reservation and one for waiting to buy in store. I was in and out of the store within 5 minutes once got seen. Queues were very small and a very smooth transaction.
