Anyone know what is the maximum phones we are allowed to reserve? I reserved 3 and I'm afraid they'll limit it to one because of their store "policy".

Here's the scoop I got from an Apple Store team lead here in Calgary.

He said that by far, the most reservations they have for tomorrow are between 8-10 AM. There will be two lines. One for walk-ins and one for reservations. Apple Store employees will be directing traffic and those in the reservation line will be "checked in" using an iPad. He did say that if someone arrives early for their reservation that they will be served, but not to the detriment of a person with an earlier appointment.

One thing he did say what that they'd be splitting the reservation line between those needing activations with their provider, and those buying an unlocked phone saying that unlocked phones will be dealt with much quicker.

He did say it would be madness but they handled it fine last year during the "6" launch.

Compare his explanation versus the clerk on the floor. She told me that tomorrow they would not be honouring appointments and it would be first come, first served. Needless to say, that got my hackles up. Her boss was quick to correct her assessment.

Point being, a lot of Apple folks on the floor (and presumably the floor) aren't really sure how to handle things. Let's just hope the "Team Leads" (and similar) do!

Did he mention how the iPhone Upgrade Program and the credit check would work? It seems like that would take a long time to approve.

I don't think they would know. Since this is in Calgary, the AUP hasn't been implemented there yet..

I had spoken yesterday to the Apple Store employee and they customers will have to do a full credit check as its done via Citizens Bank. Its a hard pull.

Makes you wonder how many people:
  1. quickly ran over to annualcreditreport.com to check their credit report, and
  2. quickly went to Capital One or another processor to apply for a secured credit card.

I highly doubt they know whether or not it's a hard or soft pull. A soft pull provides enough information for them to know if you're trustworthy.

Probably too many because they don't know any better.

Agreed. It would also be interesting to know how much stock a given Apple store would have because a customer didn't qualify for the AUP because of said credit check.

I spoke to manager yesterday at store, its a check but not a hard pull. Hmmm. I don't know if they really know until tonight.

Just curious what I a secured credit card would do?

That's a good question. I hadn't considered that possibility.

A manager would know. A team lead would know. Anyone else on the floor, though, don't need to know.

Got me. I don't know the difference. Update: Ah, so a secured credit card is based on what you've funded as the credit limit. It's a tool for people with low or no credit.

Even if they applied, they won't be buying them tomorrow.

It's also the quickest way to get a credit card, even if you have the funds but never applied for a credit card to begin with.

My guess it's equivalent to a instant store credit check. It's only for $1000 and payment is secured by a credit card AND they are making you activate it on an existing carrier account so the risk is minimal to the lender.

Ours is 1 per person. But I'm at a carrier. Apple could be different. But when I worked there it was a limit of 2 per person.

If anyone is wondering, I went to my local Apple store this evening and they had a list on their iPads with the 6S reservations for tomorrow. I was reserved at 4:00 tomorrow just as my confirmation screen had said on pre-order night but I never did get an email (even after I checked spam/etc).

Congrats! Your all set then. Personally I can't wait for 1pm tomorrow :D
