I never realized there was an email that should have been sent out. I made a reservation for in store pickup for the apple upgrade program at midnight on the 11th. I got the confirmation screen, etc. and there were a ton of times available at my local apple store. I was just planning on showing up tomorrow at my time but I never got an email saying anything about my reservation.

Is there a way to log in and see the reservation to confirm or should I just show up tomorrow at 4:00?

Well, your reservation time is the time you selected. If you don't see the email, check your junk/spam folders. Unfortunately there's no way to check online at this point.

whether it's a new job or not, still learning or not, the way it was handled goes to show that she doesn't know how to think ahead. asking questions to become informed in one of the basics of customer service.

You're wrong. It's so much easier to be generous of spirit and impossible to judge another persons intelligence from a phone interaction. You weren't hearing what you wanted to hear and got unreasonably angry.

Apple wants to make sure I know my reservation time.

I just hope it didn't get messed up since everyone was scheduling/ordering at that time. I guess I will just show up and be disappointed if they don't let me in. I should have taken a screenshot.

I suspect they will try to find your reservation on their system before selling to you (to prevent walk-ins from creating a fake email print out).

Its entirely possible (depending on their back-end systems) your reservation got lost in the database due to crashes. The fact you didn't get the email that day and also today is strange..

I would call the local store today to have them check your apple id before waiting in line

If he didn't get the initial email then he doesn't have a reservation. It would still be prudent to call the store but I anticipate we know the answer. It's also possible that the store can setup a reservation today because it's a special case.

Are you going to keep finding ways to be miserable?

yes

the error with your comments are that youre assuming i wasnt "generous of spirit". i was throughout the duration of the entire call. but where do you draw the line?

Yeah, but without any knowledge that he actually did have a reservation how would they tell him apart from someone who is just trying to get a reservation tomorrow?

This ain't looking good in my book.

As a web developer, I can tell you this is not necessarily true. Any number of things could have happened to prevent him from getting the email, though it does seem unusual. It's possible the email went to his spam or junk folder, that his email provider rejected the email entirely, or that something goofed on Apple's end. If he got a confirmation screen (as suggested by "I should've taken a screenshot"), then he has a reservation. Either way, I'd call the store.

A front-end confirmation does not equal a back-end success. You should know this.

Which is why I said call the store. My point was that not receiving an email ("front-end confirmation") was not necessarily an indication that he didn't have a reservation ("back-end success"). Please don't school me on something I've been doing for years.

I could tell you the same but I'm not being arrogant.

So when pre-order went live I made two reservations tomorrow at 7:00 pm, I'm only getting one phone. My question is this could I bring along a friend to take my 2nd reservation (same time, same model phone)?

Got the emails too (2 reserved).

On another note, I just received an email from Apple titled "iPhone 6s. Get it at the Apple Store tomorrow.". I live in NH which is one of the states where there will be no walk-in sales at the store and boy are people going to be disappointed when they show up to try to buy one as such, because nowhere in this email or in the links does it state the 4-states exception.

I know I am going to one of those four states (Delaware). I went by last night to talk to a rep and I asked him how tomorrow is suppose to go since they are one of the four states with no walk-ins. He said that someone would be there if people started showing up around 5 am and that only people with reservations would be taken in line. I told him last year I waited in line for an hour before I knew there was a second line and I didn't have the time to be doing that crap again this year. He said I should be good since my reservation is at 8-8:30. What he stressed was as long as you had reservation you would be okay. Hope he's right!

Forget reserving for the new phone, has anyone checked their iCloud back up on their current phone after going to 9.0 or 9.1?

Just checked mine and it shows my last back up was in 9/16 at 3am, and shows 0kb in my back up for iCloud under my current 6 plus. And when I try and do a manual restore it fails and says it can't be done at this time.

Oh Apple why does eveyrhing have to be so hard.

Can't you check in your Apple Store app for upcoming reservations?

Here's the scoop I got from an Apple Store team lead here in Calgary.

He said that by far, the most reservations they have for tomorrow are between 8-10 AM. There will be two lines. One for walk-ins and one for reservations. Apple Store employees will be directing traffic and those in the reservation line will be "checked in" using an iPad. He did say that if someone arrives early for their reservation that they will be served, but not to the detriment of a person with an earlier appointment.

One thing he did say what that they'd be splitting the reservation line between those needing activations with their provider, and those buying an unlocked phone saying that unlocked phones will be dealt with much quicker.

He did say it would be madness but they handled it fine last year during the "6" launch.

Compare his explanation versus the clerk on the floor. She told me that tomorrow they would not be honouring appointments and it would be first come, first served. Needless to say, that got my hackles up. Her boss was quick to correct her assessment.

Point being, a lot of Apple folks on the floor (and presumably the floor) aren't really sure how to handle things. Let's just hope the "Team Leads" (and similar) do!
