Went to both of these as well. Called Short Hills, they didn't have any in their shipment.
Sorta annoys me because I called them last night and they said they will have the retinas available first thing in the morning.
Thats why I didnt order online when it was 5-7 days. Now its 2-3 weeks =/
ALWAYS order online first, THEN check retail stores. I ordered mine yesterday when it was 5-7 days (stock so I can return it if I decide it doesn't replace my 17") and then another today with 2-3 weeks (with all the upgrades) in case I decide that the new retina DOES replace my 17".
My EXACT situation. I called GSP and they're the ones that told me they would DEFINITELY have them in the morning. I got there at 9:45AM and the dreaded "sorry, no"... If they were just straightforward (maybe say they don't know), I may have just ordered it online. I was literally repeat-F5-ing until the Apple store came up and could have had it shipped within the week.
It will still be faster to get it in store. I would be surprised if they don't have some stock before friday
I just called Willowbrook and asked if they got their new shipment of RMBPs. The lady asks, "Wait, is this for business or personal use?" even though I already answered this through their automated response system. I don't know what that has to do with Retinas being in stock, but I told her it's for personal use. Then she told me they don't have any... 
During the keynote Schiller said they were shipping as of yesterday. I interpret that to mean the earliest they could appear would be sometime today -- as stores get their regular UPS and FedEx deliveries. That assumes Apple had inventory warehoused stateside or bothered to ship next day from China. I doubt the latter scenario, as that would cost more than normal contract pricing which allows FedEx/UPS 4 biz days to deliver.
Well, with MBP that's usually the case. When ever they update it, Apple Store always has them the next day. And they pretty much all do have the updated MBP and MBA, just not the retina MBP. Let's face it, it's the first MBP that's gotten so much attention and they probably just don't have enough to meet supply yet. I would assume they'll have them by the end of this week or monday of next week.

I called there too and she asked me that as well. Didn't understand why either.
Maybe someone should call and represent a business to see what their response is...
I've been calling my local store as a business, and have received the same crappy answers. They claim to have put me on a notification list though when some arrive. Who knows whether that's true or not.
I have a feeling that if they're available today, it won't be until stores are open in every (contiguous US) timezone. (1 PM EDT, 10 AM PDT)
From being an old employee, we really cant say ANYTHING besides what we can sell at the present time. There were times when we had stocks in the back but we couldnt break the tape.
No stores in the Greensboro, NC or Raleigh, Durham area have anything. Most said to call back later this afternoon to see if they received any shipments. Maybe...

THey are suppose to have them today. THey got 7. Sold out instantly. Suppose to have them tomorrow morning. Now when I phone them they say they won't have them until friday.
USELESS. A computer and software company has a VERY clear outlook of it's logistics and inventory.
It's really annoying. I've been waiting for this computer a very long time, yesterday they said it would be shipped tomorrow! I need this for a big job next week!
