ya, here in japan, u just need to present ur student card and u get your discount. probably just like any other country i would assume.

Called a buch of stores in the northeast and no one has the retina version but almost all have the new non retina.

People waiting in line don't get your hopes up, seems like the employees are confusing the two.

Lexington store clueless

Just stopped by store in Lexington, Kentucky. I went by there last night and manager told me they'd have units for sale in the morning. This morning the lady I asked said they didn't have any. Actually was pretty rude about it. She said to "come back when the resale side was open at about 10 or 11".

I'm not sure that is the type of customer service that Tim Cook wants out of his retail people.

I'm rethinking my purchase now. I can find a better way to spend $3,000.

None in Tampa, guy said no apple store in the world has any.. Bold claim, but he had a beard so I feel should believe him.

Hate waking up for nothing :/

Said will be getting them in over next few days.. Sounds like a line the apple staff have been fed. Guess we'll see.

I agree, it makes little sense money-wise to get Macbook hardware from brick and mortar stores if you are entitled to Edu discount. You can also get cash back via Quidco or TCB...
To confirm: Apple Online Store Education's Sales conditions still confirm that you get essentially "free" 3 year warranty on all computer hardware...

Can you please elaborate on this? I'm not sure what you mean by it, but if I'm missing out on something, I'd love to know!

Well, for what it's worth, thanks for saving me the trip!

None in Brandon either. I get the feeling they were either shipped out yesterday or today, just depends where from. Wish things could be a bit more transparent, I'm not in the mood to drive to the mall every morning this week like a baboon. Why a baboon? I don't know

How dare she tell you to come back when they're actually open! You just have to realize that all of us that want one, are the kind of people that ask follow up questions and treat them like they don't know what they are talking about! Granted, most of the time we are right...

Same store that told me yesterday they would have it today just told me quote "If you want do buy in-store pickup we should have them ready late tonight or first thing in the morning"

Just got off the phone.

My local store says stock is unavailable for the MBP, MBA and Mac Pro for in store pick up

I just called both the Raleigh, NC and Durham, NC locations and received the same answer from both. "They don't have" retina models right now, but I should call back later in the day. I asked if it's because they might get a shipment, and was told no but they still have boxes to open in the back which might contain them.

This is really bizarre. Launch a product, stores can't be bothered to put them on the shelves? I wonder if there was a last minute patch or testing that prompted Apple to keep them under wraps longer?

Is the store open or not? There were people in there buying stuff. If it wasn't open, does it open at 10 or 11? Manager told me last night they'd have them "first thing in the morning". Basic questions.

None at my store either. They seriously need to train their staff better because I just wasted driving 30 minutes there, then 30 minutes back (plus toll and gas on my ridiculously inefficient car), only because the guy told me they would "DEFINITELY" have it when they open.

I called another one about an hour away and was told they received their shipment for the day and there were no RMBPs. Called one more and they said they haven't received any shipments yet, but are expecting the Retinas around noon. Highly doubt it now. I should have just ordered it online when the wait was 4-7 days or whatever.

None in Garden State Plaza and Willowbrook NJ. They had all models except the retina.

Bit the bullet and ordered online through Student Discount and Discover Cashback.

Base Model with 16gb.

My local store currently at this second has all other MacBook pro and Air models available for in-store pickup online just not the retina.

If you're re-thinking your purchase based off the perceived slight you got from a (likely) part time employee at the Apple Store, then you probably didn't need the laptop to begin with.
