Sorry, in store it used to be a 1 year standard warranty and a hugely discounted uplift to about £50. But that's apparently 'changed' and it's only 30% discount on the AppleCare now, so it's about £190, I was fuming. I assume it's nationwide, but you never know.

Hardware discount remains at 15%, so a 15" 256GB came to £1724 with 3 year parts warranty & phone support in store.

I just ordered on the phone, came for £1520 ish with 3 year hardware and 90 day phone support. Huge difference. Although shipping estimate is 2nd to the 9th of JULY!!

I agree, it makes little sense money-wise to get Macbook hardware from brick and mortar stores if you are entitled to Edu discount. You can also get cash back via Quidco or TCB...
To confirm: Apple Online Store Education's Sales conditions still confirm that you get essentially "free" 3 year warranty on all computer hardware...

Apple Store Regent Street had SEVEN RMBP's and obviously sold out instantly. Apparently are getting more tomorrow.

This is RIDICULOUS. It's a ploy by marketing to raise some hype. Seriously Apple get a grip!

was it available upon store opening?

Heading out to the mall right now, about 45 minutes before opening. I'll post another when I get there.

Anyone else notice that the online store will no longer allow selecting the "pick up" option? i.e., yesterday, we could at least select the option and see that it was "not available" at any stores. Now, it won't let us select the radio button...

(or maybe this is just an educational discount issue?)

Is this only in the UK? In the US it makes no difference whether you buy online or in-store with educational pricing, the price is the same. Take the 13'' MBP for example. Base price is $1199, with educational discount it comes to $1099, add tax back in (approx %8) and that brings you to $1186.92. Buying online, you get the same price. I'm pretty sure you only get a year warranty and still have to purchase AppleCare at an additional premium. Do you know something I don't regarding free AppleCare?

hoping they have some of the 16gb models in stock!

to clarify my previous point - the online store is now saying "not eligible" for pickup, which is new as of the last hour

I noticed this too. I was hoping to pre-config my RMBP and then pick it up after I left the hospital. Now it seems Apple is making it a first come, first serve basis.

Was in line at the Apple store in Ottawa and they don't have any at all :(

One if the Humac stores in Oslo, Norway told me they will get the retina display ones in two-three weeks, and that it would be faster to order online directly from Apple for Norwegian customers.

Educational discount only applies online.

It seems like the availability is varying a lot. Some people are seeing it today, while others are seeing weeks from now... at least in other countries.
