So I've been calling the two Apple stores that are close to my house all day asking if they've received the MacBook Pro Retina. No luck all day!

But then I decided to call an Apple Store that is pretty far from my house, and is also pretty tiny. Thinking they would say they didn't have any in stock, I was shocked to hear that they had a few!!!:eek:

So I went and picked it up.

The MacBook Pro Retina is phenomenal, the screen is truly gorgeous.

If you're still looking for one, I recommend calling as many Apple stores in the area.
I had given up for the day but your post made me call again.....and they still don't have any stock....damn

NYC Fifth Avenue has the Retina MBP on display. The employee I spoke to on the phone implied, but did not state explicitly, that they had received a shipment though, she just didn't know when they were putting them out for sale. She said "maybe later, maybe tomorrow." Very helpful.

NYC Upper West Side did not tell me if the model was on display, but the employee did tell me to try in the morning because they were "probably going to be available in the morning."

Nice. Would you say the screen is a huge improvement? Worth spending another £300 on top for the screen alone? I tried to see for myself but my local Apple store didn't even have a display model..

I have to order online anyway, free 3 year warranty for UK students is just too great to sacrifice for the sake of 2-3 week waiting times. How long do you think it could be until it settles down to either 24 hours of 2-3 days? Anybody got any hunches? :D

The extra money is completely worth it in my opinion. It's actually pretty hard to believe you're looking at a screen when you look at it. Haha. The Retina is just amazing.

Sorry man. Hopefully they'll have some tomorrow. Good luck. It's worth the wait.

They said the same in San Francisco.

Okay, so if we're lucky these things will go on sale first thing tomorrow morning. What kind of stock is likely going to be available? My Apple Store has a variety of non-Retina '12 MacBook Pros. I'd like to get a 2.7 GHz MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Do you think they'll have it or just the bare bones stock options?

We will be lucky if they have any model...

If Apple would turn in-store pickup back on I could check stock without calling

Spoke to a friend at my local Apple store and he said they received around 20 units and 2 displays. They unpacked them around 5pm and decided to wait till tomorrow to put them on display and sell them.....that last part pissed me off:mad:

Im assuming most stores will be carrying them by the end of this week. Good thing i didn't order online.

This would match information given to me by an Apple Store employee. They claimed that the shipment contained two display units and an unknown number of sellable units.

I had a feeling....now I really hope the same thing is happening in Canada so I can pick one up tomorrow morning...!

I hope that is what happened here too. I was there this morning and they said they had none. Called them after noon and they said they had one of each. Hoping he was talking about the display model. I would love to be able to go in tomorrow morning and get one. But I don't know if it is worth it. It is 30-45 minutes away. Any guess on when best buy will get them?

Best way to get informed, call the Apple store in the morning or even now and make sure you mention that your a business and looking to purchase. They'll put you on their list and inform you when it arrives. I gave them a fake name and business. They said they would call me when It's available for sale.

Ah! Arden is like 15 minutes from me. Did they say they "might" have some in? I work up in Roseville and was going to check the Galleria although I doubt I'll get lucky

I called Arden a bit after noon and they didn't have any yet. They suggested ordering online. If you find some in stock around here be sure to post!

The only problem with that is they will look up your account when you go to pickup as a business customer. You may get lucky and they may let it go, but you won't get your discount.

Your not getting the point. All you want is the call to let you know they're in. They obviously cater to business customers first. Evidenced by the various times i called today. When i said it's for personal they just blew me off. When i said it's for business they actually gave me some details on units arrived and when they expect to have them on sale.

Went to the Mac Store in Albuquerque New Mexico yesterday and they told me to come back today before 10 AM and they should have some.

I got there before 10 (9:30) and told an employee named "Matt" that I wanted the new MBP Retina. He told me there weren't any and he'd let me know if any came in.

I had a genius bar appointment at 11:15 so I sat to wait for that.

At about 10:30, I overheard an employee tell a customer they had sold 3 MBP Retinas earlier that day. I asked that employee what had happened and he said that he would check in the back for me if there were any more. I then saw Matt selling 2 MBP Retinas to a customer right behind me. I asked him about it and he told me that that guy had just come in and asked for them. I told Matt that I was sitting right there and he knew I wanted one. Based on body language it looked like Matt was very chummy with this customer. I told Matt I didn't appreciate that he was selling to someone that had just walked in (it was about 11 AM) when I had been waiting to see if I could get one since 9:30. He told me that things just happen and I didn't have to shop in the store. I told him he didn't have to work there if he can't help a customer out on a first come first served basis. I later talked to another employee who told me the other customer had "reserved" the MBPRs, and I pointed out to him they weren't available online for in store pickup so the only way he could have reserved them was with some sort of preferential treatment. He told me they don't have preferential treatment. I told him that whatever he wants to call it, that is what had happened.

So long story short I didn't get one even though I was there yesterday and the first one there today looking for one. I guess its just the way they do things in the ABQ store you have to know someone even though they won't admit it.

I'll be talking to the store manager but based on who I have talked to already they just will stone wall me anyways.

Worst experience I've ever had in an Apple Store. I should have just ordered online the moment they became available. Live and learn I guess.

Guess what showed up on eBay? If you guessed guy with 3 RMBPs, you are correct!

It's clear certain employees are hiding the MacBooks until their buddies can come in and buy them and split the profit.
